24.01.2022 Ku-ring-gai Unit has received 7 requests for assistance due to the strong winds experienced this evening. The issues experienced by the Ku-ring-gai community were mainly due to trees and branches falling and damaging or blocking access to property. We were also called to Burns Road where a tree had fallen across two lanes. 21.01.2022 The Bureau of Meteorology has updated its Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and DAMAGING SURF Updated 4.26pm 5 November 2020. For people in parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter and Metropolitan Forecast Districts.... A surge of strong southerly winds are forecast to build on Thursday as a low pressure system deepens off the NSW coastline. This low is forecast to quickly move into the Tasman Sea with conditions easing by Friday. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible about parts of the coastline from late Thursday afternoon. Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds early Friday morning as the low pressure system moves further offshore. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Sydney, Forster, Seal Rocks, Bulahdelah, Wallsend, Toronto, Wyong, The Entrance and Woy Woy. VERY HEAVY SURF which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible for southerly facing beaches between Norah Head and Seal Rocks this evening easing by early Friday. Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Seal Rocks and Nelson Bay. Issued at 3:01 pm Friday, 13 November 2020.... SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRING, MAY PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Camden, Campbelltown, Cessnock and Kurri Kurri. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Budgewoi, Belmont, Charlestown and Swansea by 3:25 pm and Sutherland, Bundeena, Engadine and Holsworthy by 3:55 pm. Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely. 81km/hr gust observed south of Singleton at 2:23pm.. We currently have 5 crews, including a flood rescue team, assisting the public, all supported by our Incident Management Team at our Wahroonga Headquarters.
