25.01.2022 The way they rest their head on your shoulder. It’s the best right?!
25.01.2022 Kates maternity photo... Versus my maternity photo. Yep that’s right I didn’t get maternity photos. Mainly because I hated every second of being pregnant and did not feel good about myself. There are two reasons I wish I got a few maternity photos. ... 1. I’m not planning on being pregnant ever again. So I just won’t have a nice photo of me pregnant. Ever. 2. My kids (aged 4 and 5) ask about when they were in my tummy and it’s such a strange concept to them! I wish I had some photos to show them, I know they would love to see. If you are pregnant and haven’t wanted to get photos, I’m here to tell you that you should. Even if you just go to a pretty spot and hand your phone over to someone else to take some snaps. It’s far better than a selfie and once it’s done, you have the photos forever! Did you get maternity photos?

24.01.2022 I’m headed back to this glorious beach tonight for a golden hour shoot. I can’t wait! Tian and her baby boy
23.01.2022 Yayyyy it’s the weekend!! Which means I go from running around after my own kiddies to running after other people’s kiddies (with a camera!). Baby Evie - I can’t believe I haven’t shared this photo yet!
22.01.2022 Ahhh it’s good to be back! After nearly 4 months of only having my kids to photograph I’m pretty happy to be back at it - as are my kids! Catherine and Evie - the cutest baby I ever did see
19.01.2022 Yayyyy it’s the weekend!! Hope those of you whose kids started school this week have survived. I’m slowly adjusting to school mum life! It would seem I have to be a bit more organised! Tell me experienced school mums - HOW DO YOU REMEMBER ALL THE THINGS?!
18.01.2022 Welllll I had an absolute blast this morning hanging out in the rain with the ladies from @eatlovelive ! The work they do supporting their clients to improve their relationship with food is SO important. We are all impacted by diet culture from such a young age, I know it has impacted me. In fact, recently I almost put off my own family photos because I thought I had to lose some weight first.. Thankfully, I caught myself and am getting those photos next weekend! ... Go on and give these guys a follow and feel good about what you look at on Insta for a change!
17.01.2022 Soooo I have a confession to make... I’m not a beach girl. It’s hot, it’s sunny, it’s too bright and if it’s windy - forget it! If by some stroke of amazing luck it’s a nice beach day in Melbourne (very rare) every single Melbournian is there and it’s toooo busy! Give me the beach on the cold days, after the sun has started to set. I’ll take it then. ... Now the bush, that’s a different story. I love the bush. I love the filtered light, glancing through the trees. I love the little pockets beauty that can be found everywhere. I love the smell of the air. I love the birds. I mean, do you want to share your lunch with a rosella or a seagull? So here’s Amy, in the bush, looking radiant in that beautiful filtered light. Tell me, are a beach or bush?
15.01.2022 One month ago we moved into our new house. For me, it was coming home. Close to my parents and sister. Back where I grew up. I’ve wanted a childhood where my kids grew up not just appreciating our natural environment but really living in it. The kids are learning all sorts of new things. They are learning about plants, flowers and about all of the different birds. Hubby said to me, ‘the kids are never going to be able to live anywhere else after living here.’ Maybe that’s wh...y I had to get out of the city... That being said, We miss our friends in the inner west. We miss having our besties up the street bringing us cupcakes and leaving messages in chalk on the footpath. I miss running into people I know. I miss my coffee shop man who knew my order and always made me laugh! So today it was nice to come back to our old hood and see some of our friends! But it was just as nice to come home to this
15.01.2022 My baby is officially 4! I am acutely aware of how fast my kids are growing. Nothing like your eldest starting school to make you realise how fast it all goes! Like all mums, I want to bottle every moment. I want to store it in my memory forever. I wish it worked like that. ... Sometimes it feels like everything happens so fast that it’s a blur. I can’t remember their first words or when they first told me they loved me. I hope I’m not the only one!! But I remember the feelings. I remember the joy, the sadness, the overwhelming love, the boredom, the laughter... These small moments, they make up my life and they are all I get so I want to keep them. That’s why I take photos. That’s why I do what I do, to give you your memories keep.
15.01.2022 A lot of my clients tell me that they can’t stop looking at their photos after I have sent them their gallery. They don’t just look at them once and share them on their social media. They go back and look over and over, they make their favourite photo their phone wallpaper. Then in a few days they find another one and make that their wallpaper. They print their photos and hang them on the wall, and they smile when they walk past. ... I believe the reason beautiful family photos make such an impact is because they reflect the feelings you have inside back at you. Photos are a way of showing you how special that bond really is. Oana and Evelyn
15.01.2022 Aaaand that’s a wrap on shoots for 2020! I thought it would be fitting to share a photo of me with my two sidekicks since we have spent A LOT of time together this year. I just wanted to take a moment to thank my amazing clients. You have all been so kind and understanding with having to postpone your sessions or move your shoots outdoors. I feel so lucky to have you! So often I leave a shoot thinking ‘aw, they were so nice! I want to be their friend!’ ... When I get to see you down the track because your babies have grown or another baby has come along, it is such a huge compliment to see you booking me again. Thankyou so much for supporting my business and for supporting my dream. No doubt 2021 is going be better than 2020 (right?! )
13.01.2022 Outdoor photography is back!!! I’m committed to keeping your family safe, and mine too, as well as ensuring that 2021 will be better than 2020! You can find my Covidsafe plan on my website: www.kristennicolephotography.com.au
09.01.2022 I first photographed this lovely lot about 18 months ago. Back then there was only 3 of them and Elliott was a toddler! Now Adeline has joined the crew and I’m pretty sure Elliott is smarter than me! I had so much fun chatting to these guys during the shoot I got to my car and was worried I didn’t take enough photos! Don’t worry Leigh, there’s plenty!
08.01.2022 I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful woman last week! She found me through our lovely supportive network of women over at @clicklovegrow where my photography journey began!
06.01.2022 Bek + Roy + Isobel Due to COVID restrictions we book Isobel’s newborn shoot for outdoors at the Edinburgh Gardens, which was nice because that’s where Bek and Roy got married! It was my second shoot back after restrictions eased and I was soooo excited! Then I arrived the gardens and discovered everyone else in Melbourne decided it would be a nice night to go there too! ... So we had to improvise, and off we went to the Fitzroy laneways! I never thought I’d do a newborn shoot in a laneway but I think they turned out pretty well! Thanks for hanging in their Bek and Roy! It was nice to stroll the streets of Fitzroy with you!
06.01.2022 Dancing through golden hour with this BEAUTIFUL family Sometimes it’s totally worth keeping the kids up a bit later than normal! Pack their PJs and hopefully they full asleep in the car on the way home! Then it’s just a sneaky transfer to bed and you are home free. (Okay okay I know it’s not as easy as that... but still, it’s worth it don’t you think?!)
05.01.2022 First weekend back shooting and it’s rained out. I mean really Melbourne, really?! Photo of my daughter coz she’s cute
04.01.2022 Golden hour. The hour before sunset. The most beautiful time of day for photos, I mean look at that beautiful glow! If you can keep your kids up until about 7.30pm in summer it is totally worth it! I find most kids, particularly those aged over 2 are totally fine with being out having fun with their parents past their bedtime! But if your kids need to be in bed by 7pm (like mine did!) I’d recommend booking your golden hour shoot in April! April is still warm(ish) and daylig...ht savings has ended so sunset is a lot earlier! I’m now booking March and April shoots so if you have been thinking about getting family photos in 2021, now is the time to book! How gorgeous are these guys?!
03.01.2022 Hoorayyyy! I’m backkkk! Well.... in a few weeks anyway as soon as we get to the next stage in restrictions. I’ll be getting in touch with all of my clients to organise their sessions over the next few days!
02.01.2022 Abbey’s beautiful family enjoying the last of the sunshine for the day. This shot was taken at Jawbone Marine Sanctuary in Williamstown, which has a special spot in my heart. It was in our 5km zone in lockdown and it kept me (and the kids) sane! It’s also a beautiful spot of a family Photoshoot.
02.01.2022 Ant and his baby boy. His biggest baby boy! This moment was captured during a maternity shoot for Ant’s beautiful wife Caity. Maternity shoots are about celebrating the beauty of pregnancy as well as the connections between your family before everything changes.
