20.01.2022 Baby Juniper Brisbane - Australia

20.01.2022 YOUR GURL GOT A APARTMENT! What a ordeal! Firstly thank you to the very many of you who sent me tips on how to get one. I’ve never not got a apartment I’ve applied for, I’ve always had a great cover letter, offered a fraction more rent and sold myself as a human rather than another piece of paper. ... Difference in 2021 and the years before is we are having the knock on effect from covid of many people moving to Brisbane from the southern states which has created a huge rental crisis. So I’ve attempted to go to over a dozen inspections and never stepped foot in one due to them already being rented out, some hours after they were listed. So many have shared stories of living in friends spare rooms due to not being able to get a rental and people applying to dozens and no luck.. it’s just a absolute shit fight and I empathise with all the families and humans who are in this and also the property managers who are probably getting 100 texts/emails/calls a day demanding to hear our unique stories and pleas for help. I personally went to the building with a listing available and buzzed the property manager so I could personally introduce myself before the inspection, we had a 45 minute yarn and I filled the rental application a hour later with every detail covered and then some, plus a cover letter that painted us alive as a mum and a kid who want a home to be safe in and make memories together I requested a earlier inspection than was offered because time is your enemy, so if you have references, be it personal, business or rental agents, make sure you alert them as soon as you have applied because just one of them taking a extra day will cost you the rental. I got the text this morning to say our application was approved out of many others and I like to think it’s because of all this extra dancing I did... My next option if we didn’t get this place was to use @therentfairy_ , this is a service who acts as a full time PR, they call up the agents in the area you want and basically try to find you off market places or get you to the top of the list for ones already available. They have over a decade of being in the property management industry!

04.01.2022 #Repost @hellojoshwithers Holy shit, these words by Josh hit me hard because IT ME! #kristinawild ... They’ve shot that venue before I’ve sat in front of some of the nicest, most lovely, intelligent, smart people and heard them say the most random crap about how or why they’ve chosen a wedding photographer. Here’s a few thoughts on selecting, choosing, inviting a photographer into your wedding. Hire a photographer whose photos you could imagine yourself being in. Like if you did a little magazine cutout job and stuck your head on the bodies of some of the people in their photos, you think that’d be a nice photo. Hire a photographer who can show you great photos from the ceremony. They’ve got no lighting or positioning or timing control over the ceremony so it’s a real talent to pull awesome ceremony photos in poor lighting conditions. Hire a photographer who values couple and family photos like you do, and you can see that because they actually get photos them of themselves and their family by other photographers. Hire a photographer who charges too much ... because that’s how you know that they value you, your family, your wedding, and the art they’re delivering. Hire a photographer you could imagine yourself having a Sunday session with. Hire a photographer who’ll hug mum while making photos of you, like Kristina Wild. Hire a photographer who knows more about humans than they do about cameras. Hire a photographer who does know about cameras though, that’s probably fairly helpful. Hire a photographer who might not know the venue, it means they’ll see it in a completely new and creative light. And if you’re unsure if your photographer is that person, book in for a couple shoot with them to test the waters.

02.01.2022 I shared this on my stories and have had so many emotional conversations with parents so wanted to share this here so the conversations can continue and maybe we can all learn a little from each other From my own experience of growing up with no education why there were kids in my class that were segregated, to now meeting so many wonderful humans in my line of work on a daily basis that show me the world through their eyes and challenge what normal is When you have ...a neurotypical child (a child who functions in a ‘normal’ way), you feel reasonably assured that class participation and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close friends. They get invited to participate in social things like birthdays, play dates and weekend gatherings. They make the teams, auditions and are always busy doing something fun with their friends. But when you have a child with certain differences, this is often not the case. Learning may take longer, both academically and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, results are often a fraction of their peers and social acceptance is fleeting, setting them up for painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and fulfilling experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety, and homework a battle ground at home. It is exhausting for parents and child alike. This is the week of SPED (Special Education), Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness. For all the children who struggle every day to succeed in a world that does not recognise their gifts and talents, and for those who are walking beside them, please let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accepting of ALL people. Recognise that the "playing field" is not always a level surface. Children who learn differently are not weird. They are merely gifted in ways that our society does not value enough. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted. Please help me share awareness of this. Copy and paste (by touching and holding the text) onto your profile in honor of all children who are deemed "different". Our world would be far less beautiful without them. See more
