24.01.2022 Despite being somewhat delayed this year, terrific to see the rich diversity of artistic talent and portraits in this year's Archibald Prize. #archibaldprize #diversity

23.01.2022 I'm a huge fan of Indigenous fire practitioner Victor Steffensen. His knowledge of traditional fire management, and his ability to share it in a practical, common sense way, is enlightening. Recently, I read his book, 'Fire Country'. Told in a really simple and enjoyable yarn style, it dispels myths about cultural burns and speaks of the immense benefits they have, both environmentally and culturally. Not only do they have to be the right kinds of burns and conditions to suit... the various landscapes, the smoke needs to be white (not thick dark or black smoke) for life to flourish, while the ash needs to be black (not white like we see after an incinerator burn or a bushfire). This book really speaks to my heart. More importantly, it is invaluable reading for all. As Victor says, it's time to start "reading the land". #firecountry #culturalburns

22.01.2022 One of my favourite places on Earth - Mungo National Park. I had the good fortune to camp there in 2006 (over scorpions' nests!). The landscape is deeply striking, ever-changing and profoundly spiritual. An amazing place to witness some pretty speccy sunrises, sunsets, moonrises and moonsets. In fact, the fiery image on the banner of my website was taken at Mungo National Park on Anzac Day morning. It inspired the reds and earthy tones in the website's layout. That said, probably time to revamp my website in the not too distant future. :) #mungonationalpark #outbacknsw

16.01.2022 Womankind magazine's three-day 'Early Morning' challenge starts this Wednesday, 9 September. Who's up for diarising what they do with their early morning starts? #womankindmagazine #earlymorningchallenge

11.01.2022 The fabulous Kill Your Darlings is seeking a part-time (one day per week) deputy editor for 2021. Details below.

09.01.2022 I really admire Phillip Johnson Landscapes philosophy: creating sustainable native habitats that embrace a diverse range of Australian plants and some incredibly innovative natural water features (think waterfalls and billabongs). There is an overwhelming sense of connection with everything he does. Here's to Phillip's latest project, a free public native garden in the Dandenong Ranges, getting the support that it deserves. It's a 4 million dollar project and still needs 2.66... million to make it happen. Public donations can be made via the People and Parks Foundation. 09.01.2022 It's been really interesting to see how libraries, our social glue, have adapted this year, but how wonderful is Yarra Plenty Regional Library's Caring Calls project? #libraries #caringcalls

07.01.2022 A sneak peek of the artwork that is being created by the wonderfully talented outback_painter, Belinda Williams. These vivid images will form part of a book that I ghostwrote about a modern day Aussie explorer solving an almost century-old outback mystery. Stay tuned for the book's release in 2021. #australianexplorer #outbackmystery

07.01.2022 Some lovely words from Australian explorer Bill Decarli, whose book I recently completed. "The calibre of my second book . . . has exceeded anything that I could have ever dreamed of, and that is greatly to Kristin’s credit. Words alone fall short of my thanks to her for capturing my true feelings and emotions over the last four decades, especially with solving one of Australia’s greatest outback mysteries. Without her, this book would not have been possible. Thanks, Bill, ...it sure has been a journey! :) Stay tuned for the official title and release date in 2021. *Photos are my own. #outbackmystery #melbourneghostwriter
