25.01.2022 Yes! I have even gotten one from the CDN (content delivery network) my website is routed through. It’s a tech company Anyone got any interesting ones?

24.01.2022 Does anyone here use Facebook in a web browser as opposed to the mobile app? There are a few disadvantages to using the app: It’s a battery hog It has more glitches than the desktop version... Privacy is not as good as the desktop version The one advantage of the app: it’s faster! I’m thinking of making the switch - check out the article for more info

24.01.2022 Since the iPhone was introduced there have been rumours kicking around that there will be a foldable version A patent filed recently could see that happen in years to come...although I'm not convinced https://www.cnet.com//apple-envisions-a-foldable-iphone-w/

24.01.2022 This is me every time!

23.01.2022 Today is ’Safer Internet Day’ I don’t believe in restricting and taking away access to technology all together. I do believe in empowering children and adults to learn and positively communicate in the online world. It’s up to everyone to make the Internet a great place

23.01.2022 I really do love the technologically- challenged #dontmesswiththesettings

23.01.2022 If your laptop isn’t closing properly it may be because the battery has swelled and there is a risk of it causing a chemical fire We buy all this great tech but rarely look after it property...conversation for another time Best advice is to...... Check your tech

22.01.2022 When I have a work (and personal) problem to solve I always consult my Supervisor She oversees everything at @kristywrightdigital and is always there to consult and talk through the process when I have a tricky issue to solve Anyone else talk to their fur colleagues? Or is it just me ... . . . . #staffygram #staffysofinstagram #snatchthestaffy #talktomydog #problemsolving #meandmydog #dogsarethebestpeople See more

22.01.2022 Do you protect your laptop too? You know I am all about protecting devices with good quality cases, but laptops are often forgotten in this area. My #macbookair has always had a hardcover from #kuzy since the day I got it. Here’s my new one I just put on today ... Apple products are so pretty, but if you want them to keep looking that way, you need to put a case on it. It’s doesn’t need to be boring You can get laptop covers and sleeves for many different brands to #protectyourtech A quick Google will give you answers, or message or comment and I’ll recommend one for you. #kristywrightdigital #prettymacbook #prettymacbookcover #kuzycover

22.01.2022 So, it turns out not everything is on the Internet I just listened to an episode of ‘Reply All’ and its’s all about tracking down a song from the 90’s one guy remembered and couldn’t get out of his head. You know, when you have a song stuck in your head but you just can’t remember the name and who it was by? The Reply All team go to extraordinary lengths - they get musicians to record the song based off memory, they go to Rolling Stone magazine, academics, radio producers... from the 90’s - basically everywhere because they can’t find it on the net Then, they try one last thing and it’s Facebook. Go on a journey of extraordinary length and listen to the episode ‘#158 The Case of the Missing Hit. https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/reply-all/id941907967

21.01.2022 This image says it all really If you aren’t using a password manager (Last Pass or even Apple Keychain) you are at a far greater risk of being compromised. It been proven time and time again that we are not good at setting secure passwords. And writing them down in a book Look, I get it! They take time to set up but with the holidays coming up you might want to add this one to your list

21.01.2022 For those that say they aren’t very tech savvy, scientists have taught spinach to send emails So, if spinach can’t do it - so can you https://www.euronews.com//scientists-have-taught-spinach-t

19.01.2022 ** Quickly deactivates TikTok** https://www.boredpanda.com/tik-tok-reverse-engineered-data/

19.01.2022 I was only just saying this morning as a joke for an ad for a client that you could offer FREE toilet paper And, then I checked my email... Good marketing and promotion can be great if there is an element of timing or being timely - but only if it’s consistent with your business and message. The email below works great - while also going with a sense of humour - even if it is toilet humour

19.01.2022 Anyone else working over the weekend This is what I’m currently listening to to keep me motivated - I listen to all types of music, I don’t have just one What do you listen to keep you motivated? https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DZ06evO2aNAaI

18.01.2022 I'm all about productivity I do use most of these recommendations in the article, but I also use the 'Notes' app on my iPhone and Mac My 'offline' systems include handwritten lists in one main notebook, a whiteboard/magnetic board, a month-view desk planner and a week-view planner I use to plan out content for clients I find the simple systems that fit in with my life and way of doing things are much more likely to stick to long term and be beneficial ... What works for you? https://www.techradar.com/au/best/best-productivity-apps

17.01.2022 I find this hilarious Everyone complains that we use our phones way too much so someone has taken this version ’back to the dark ages’ I think really we need to learn how to use them better and put boundaries in place. For instance, when I have a work deadline or I don’t want to be distracted I turn off notifications and use the ‘do not disturb’ function (it’s a swipe up on the iPhone for those wanting to quickly find it - just hit the moon icon) As a general rule, on ...installing new apps I always turn ‘push notifications’ off. You can always go back and change it later if you really want to get notifications And, Messenger notifications are always off. I find that ‘ding’ so passive aggressive and commands your instant attention - which is what it’s supposed to do. I just check when I am ready How do you handle notifications?

16.01.2022 Are you doomsurfing? You know, falling into deep rabbit holes overflowing with coronavirus stories, stats and conspiracies? The internet is a bit of a scary place at the moment, but there are ways to make it better Here are some ideas ... Log off altogether. Delete the apps from your phone and let those close to you know you are doing this. With so much going on, this can make others aware and be more mindful to check in on you through other forms of communication. If you are a business and need to be active on social media, I highly recommend a scheduling app like Hootsuite https://hootsuite.com to schedule and monitor the activity in your accounts without having to go via Facebook or Instagram and see your newsfeed. You can sign up for a free account, and it lets you have two accounts attached, i.e. a Facebook page and an Instagram account. I did this at the start of the year when the bushfires were in full force, and it helped me greatly. If there are particular people on your Facebook newsfeed sharing lots of unhelpful posts that raise your anxiety, you can delete them, or you can hit the three dots on their post and ‘snooze’ them for 30 days or ‘hide’ their posts. With the ‘hide’ function, this alerts the algorithm to filter out posts of similar nature. If you are working from home, or in self-isolation or quarantine, an app like Freedom https://freedom.to that blocks websites and apps on your devices may be worthwhile. They do offer a free trial, but their pricing is quite cheap whether you choose monthly, yearly or forever. Turn off push notifications. I do this for every app when I install it asks you every time, but most people skip past this You can do this on your device anytime through your settings. Want to connect with loved ones and friends? * Get a Skype account https://www.skype.com * Get a group together over Zoom the videoconferencing app https://zoom.us * Livestream has worked for art galleries, musicians etc. If you have a business, for the most part, there are ways to transition online. If you are looking to transition online or need help and advice on what tech to use, get in touch And remember regardless of what is happening we are all in this together, and we should respect others online too even though they may not share the same views. What we need right now is kindness and a self-care practice that helps us through. The internet is only as good or bad as we make it so make it great, especially now What has worked for you when you are in a doomsurfing spiral?

16.01.2022 What life was like before the #internet according to kids I love the responses

15.01.2022 Everyone has been sucked into the Netflix void of auto playing one show after another Now, you can turn it off. Here’s how https://www.google.com.au//netflix-now-lets-you-stop-auto/

13.01.2022 They have used DNA to convict people, now it’s your Google location data. Recently, in the USA the ATF got a warrant for Google location data in relation to a string of arson’s that’s caused $50,000 worth of damage. Google handed over location data for almost 1,500 users within a 9 hour period to comply with the warrant. Obviously, this raises concerns for the data security of people who had nothing to do with the crime - but also the fact that it could result in passive wr...ong convictions. Good news is you can opt out of Google tracking this data. Go to the My Activity page in you Google account and click on Activity Controls. From there, you can toggle the location history feature off. https://www.google.com.au//google-gives-feds-1500-lea/amp/

12.01.2022 Changes are on the the way for those registering and renewing .com.au domain names The changes will impact overseas businesses rather than Australian businesses. If you have an ABN and a registered business in Australia then the changes won't impact you. For those of you with an overseas business, you will now need a registered trade mark in Australia that is an exact match for the words in the domain name ... If that impacts you, you can find more details here: https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx

12.01.2022 #fridayfunny I think this kid is a genius

12.01.2022 I’m leaving this here in case anyone needs instructions

12.01.2022 Remember a decade ago when they started rolling out the NBN? Well that roll-out deadline ends in June And, I think we can all agree that we were sold a sub-par network - especially when we compare our speeds to many 3rd world countries and they come out on top. My favourite part of this article was the mention of how it can improve the service in the future. Wait...wasn’t the whole point of the NBN to improve what we already had

11.01.2022 I could watch this all day! They’re just so satisfying to watch

10.01.2022 When your tech person tells you this and you roll your eyes This somehow seems fitting at the moment

10.01.2022 Life is short, do that thing you want to do now. Don’t wait another year

09.01.2022 I don’t know about you, but I achieved very little over the COVID shutdown I wasn’t that person who had masses of time to reorganise my entire house, write a book and while I was at it, catch up on 10 years worth of filing Some people thrived, and if that’s you, I’m very happy for you - but it just wasn’t my reality. And, for many women taking on home learning as well as everything else we do already, there was not much getting done at all ... It’s true! I don’t like it if I’m not achieving - or if I don’t have a routine. So, I have started with small projects to get my ‘spark’ back This book was a recommendation from a podcast. I love audiobooks right now, so I listened to this one It has some great tips on how you can get out of your way, stop with the procrastinating and start doing. I’ve started using the technique myself, and I have had great success with productivity Mel Robbins also talks about using the technique for anxiety. If you are looking to regroup and get back to being productive, this book is a great read or listen https://www.audible.com.au/pd

08.01.2022 Sometimes - for whatever reason - it’s just not possible to delete someone as a friend on FB What you can do is restrict them seeing your posts by following the steps in this article

08.01.2022 With the latest iPhone to hit the market with no headphone or charger included in the box (I know, controversial), cords are really becoming a thing of the past The spider web of cords at the back of a computer is less common these days with wifi and Bluetooth devices, but I have sorted out a few of these disasters for clients - and I’m always surprised at how many cords are connected to nothing It seems most people have a collection of cords in their homes they don’t ...know what to do with. I’m here to tell you that you are never going to need that old Nokia 5110 charger ‘just in case’ No. You will never use it again! You can Google your closets tech recycling station and Officeworks have drop off bins too

07.01.2022 My favourite is Monopoly There were many childhood disagreements because of Monopoly

07.01.2022 I am changing things up over in my corner of the world It's become apparent that many small businesses that I have worked with over the years need help in the same areas of marketing and promoting their businesses' - content creation, social media management and email campaigns My background in writing, public relations, communications, marketing, promotions, web design - and as an overall tech nerd - are a complementary skillset for small businesses wanting to make an... impact in the digital world Watch this space for more information and tailored packages on how I can help you

07.01.2022 And to top off the day, an email from the Woolies CEO on toilet paper Two things: 1. I never thought I would get an email from a CEO about toilet paper; and 2. I never though I would be using the toilet paper emoji for anything! ... The country had really gone to s$&t! What emails/communications have you gotten from businesses about the toilet paper crisis?

06.01.2022 Lift your iPhone photography skills with these awesome tips

06.01.2022 Smart nappies...what will they think of next? I see a real need for them to be used in aged-care, but for the most part, we are a lot more attentive to babies so no real need anyway. What I would like to see is this technology implemented into sustainable products ... https://www.gadgetsnow.com//this-/articleshow/74148527.cms

06.01.2022 My quick review: pretty but problematic If you want longevity out of your tech, this is not your best option. When you implement hinges and ‘foldable glass’ things are bound to break

05.01.2022 This is good news As a side note, I highly recommend that you regularly check your settings, and in particular the privacy settings, as they change all the time - this goes for your social accounts too

04.01.2022 Come on! You know you want to laugh

03.01.2022 Have you ever seen one of these? Protect your keyboard from dirt and dust with a keyboard protector I’m always banging out when it comes to ‘protect your tech’. Growing up in a family where the emphasis was on fixing and looking after your things, I have been a strong believer that this applied to tech as well if you want longevity out of your devices! I get my colourful ones off eBay, but I’m sure a Google search will reveal you can find them anywhere done ... These are also great in terms of hygiene (particular important at the moment ) and can be wiped down or washed in detergent

02.01.2022 Technology is great...except when it doesn’t work My modem died yesterday so I bought a new one. Went to set it up and the ISP details I got yesterday are wrong so I have a 3 hour wait for a call back I am definitely one of those people that can’t live without a dedicated internet connection. ... Currently, this is me https://giphy.com/gifs/utmZFnsMhUHqU

01.01.2022 Possible study using AI to make critical decisions in the ER during the Coronavirus pandemic I don’t see it getting the funding it needs unfortunately, but this would be a great use of AI
