23.01.2022 Fantastic day for our Bundaberg and Gin Gin students down at Kumiai Ryu Gympie for Tai Kai! Events like Tai Kai are an amazing opportunity for students to train with instructors and students from various dojo’s. Each senior instructor has spent a number of years training and developing their skills and often in a range of martial arts styles. We appreciate the time they give to help students increase their knowledge and skills! ... These events are not just reserved for higher ranks or for students with years of training- they are for all levels! Some students that attended today have only be training since January this year! We are so proud of you all and can’t wait for you to share what you’ve learnt in class! Massive thanks to the host dojo- instructors, staff and students for an amazing event!

11.01.2022 What a way to kick start Saturday! Sempai Kysen is on a mission to increase his fitness in preparation to grade across from the little ninjas to adult karate! Kysen has realised that not only is consistent training required to reach the level he is aiming for but he also needs to train outside of the dojo! Kysen not only works closely with a personal trainer each fortnight to increase his strength, form and cardio fitness but he also goes to the gym with his mum and dad as m...uch as he can! Today he went for an extended strength session- always mindful to ensure correct form each time, sufficient rest between sets and appropriate weights are selected! (Under close supervision at all times) When exercising- ensure your warmed up appropriately, maintain hydration, take your time, stretch and also fuel your body pre and post workout! What goals are you working on and what steps are you taking to reach these? Remember- everything takes hard work and dedication. Trying is the first step to reaching your goals and each time you feel like you’ve failed- step back and see how far you’ve come, celebrate your small wins! A white belt is just a black belt in training!

05.01.2022 Little ninjas and karate is underway in gin gin today! It might look like our team is having a nice relax on the floor but they are actually doing something very important! They are stretching before getting into training! Why do we stretch? ... Stretching can improve posture. Tight muscles can cause poor posture. Specifically, the muscles of the chest, back (both lower and upper), and hips can cause poor posture if they are tight. Many of us spend at least a portion of our day sitting at a computer or looking at a phone or tablet- resulting in poor posture. Stretching can improve range of motion and prevents loss of range of motion. Even if range of motion in some joints is limited, stretching can help to improve this. Stretching can decrease back pain. If we have poor posture in the upper back, the lower back compensates and can develop pain. Also, if we have tight hamstrings or hip flexors, the lower back compensates and can develop pain. Stretching the leg muscles and the muscles mentioned for posture will likely help to decrease back pain. Stretching can help prevent injury. If you stretch a muscle too far, it can become injured. If you stretch and increase the range in which a muscle can move, the likelihood of obtaining an injury reduces. Stretching before physical activity specifically helps prevent injury by bringing blood flow to the muscles, warming them up, and decreasing any tightness. Stretching can decrease muscle soreness. If you have soreness in a muscle or muscle group from a recent workout, stretching can help relieve some of this discomfort. We always incorporate a stretch before and after training for all students and encourage them to make this a regular part of their routine! OSU!

03.01.2022 Don’t forget: training is back tonight! Grading for all those that are eligible!

02.01.2022 Good afternoon Please be advised that training is CANCELED for this week due to the current contact tracing that has Gin Gin listed. Whilst we understand the risk is small- we are not willing to risk the health and safety of our students, their families and the staff. We thank everyone for your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Samantha via messenger or phone. We will again state- if you feel unwell or have been in a listed hot spot or contact tracing location- please seek testing and self isolate until you receive a negative result.
