07.01.2022 Water births are not a new thing. For a long time the benefits of birthing in water have been known, but unfortunately many caregivers and birth facilities don’t allow water births. The majority of water birthing these days are seen in homebirths. Labouring and birthing in water can reduce the amount of pain felt, make it easier to find a comfortable position as the water creates buoyancy, eases the transition from womb to world for the baby, can reduce the chance of intervention and tearing, and often results in the mother feeling more in control on her birth experience.
