25.01.2022 Here's a record by another legend of our sport that will never be equalled. In 1969, Ern Barker and his chestnut gelding Sammy won the Open section of the Melb...ourne Three Day Event, and two days later won the Puissance at Melbourne Show against showjumping specialists. In this photo he's letting out a triumphant yell over the wall after he clinched the Puissance in a jumpoff against Neil Harvey and Rajah from NSW. Also placed were Jeff Evans and Cygnet Rambler of SA. The final wall, seen here, was 6 ft 10 1/2ins while the final spread was 5 ft 8in high and 5 ft 8in wide. Note Sammy's pricked ears and happy expression. In the 3DE Sammy and Ern had the only clear cross country round over the 29 obstacles in the heavy going and gained maximum bonus points in the steeplechase phase and a bonus of 31.6 points for his fast cross country round. It was raining heavily on the day. Back then, the faster you went the more bonus points you could pick up. The newspaper article says the Novice 3DE was won by 'Mrs James Russell' (Sue Russell) and Hot Shot and second was 'Mrs Ken McIver' (Margaret McIver) on Pyewacket. Rather sexist these days, but at least they got the media coverage! See more

21.01.2022 Finishing 2020 with grass in the paddocks, water in the dam, the best family (inc. all our animals) and friends and of course good health! Although 2020 has been such a tough year for so many, it has made us all slow down and enjoy the simple things in our lives. Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us this year. We are forever grateful for each and everyone of you. Cheers to a happy and healthy 2021! #bringon2021

20.01.2022 Why do you ride horses?

17.01.2022 During wars, animals have been used by armies because of their unique ability to undertake tasks that were difficult or impossible for humans. Over challenging ...terrain, they carried messages and transported equipment, people and supplies. They also helped to find people and save lives. Horses were more specifically used as transport to: -deliver mail -pull heavy military equipment and ambulance wagons -carry the wounded out of battle. Just like other countries, including the United Kingdom, people are encouraged to wear the purple poppy alongside the traditional red poppy as a reminder that both humans and animals have and continue to serve. More information on the animals that served can be found here https://anzacportal.dva.gov.au//milit/animals-in-military Every purple poppy bought supports the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation https://www.purplepoppies.com.au/

06.01.2022 Incredible teamwork! Show your children. Show them that they can still ‘compete’ without having to actually ride a horse. ... There are so many disciplines within the horse world.

05.01.2022 Never too young or too short to help out.
