24.01.2022 Shane Plowman brought in his VE Maloo for a quick retune. The LS3 (6.2litre) in the Maloo is being force fed by a 2300 Magnuson Supercharger. On PULP the Maloo made over 500kws at the wheels with plenty of power left on the table running relatively low boost (10psi) Shane is planning on upping the ante and switching the ute over to E85, adding a gilmer drive and more boost once he has installed his new turbo 400 transmission...... Shane’s Maloo will be a contender for KTMR Top 8 list once it is finished

24.01.2022 Matt Forte brought in his HQ 1 tonner for a retune.... Matt had done some further upgrades to his Holden 355 by adding a sniper efi injection system and new exhaust to the ute... Despite getting a bit of wheelspin on the dyno we were able to find another 20kws at the treads whilst improving the fuel economy... The crew at RSC Performance have done a sensational job on the paint and panel work and the ute goes as good as it looks

20.01.2022 One more shot to get the BANARO into the 11’s before SM Qld drag challenge on the 27th Have replaced the converter with a custom built higher stall unit replacing the good but mild CS unit Hopefully the 60’ will dramatically improve as this has been the combos Achilles heel up to this point struggling to run better than a 1.8xx second

18.01.2022 Darren sent me a video walk around of his CV8 Monaro to share. Very cool!

It was great to finally have the cars back on the racetrack after Covid19 delayed play. All of the cars performed well and ran between 10.0 and 11.1 Joe Capuano Kirk Purtill Mike Pullella

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Terry Blanchard taking out the open class of the NQ burnouts last night in Joyride.... Terry put the KTMR built LS engine through its paces and drove the wheels off the car to take the win! Well done mate, the smile and thumbs up from the young fella says it all

11.01.2022 We had Kate’s HQ Monaro Coupe in for some sorting out this week. The Coupe runs a mild Holden 308 V8 with Auto trans and 10 bolt diff which is perfect for the daily driving duties this classic regularly performs. The car has been in her family for many years and along with her husband and Dad they put it all back together and resprayed in a custom yellow finish that really comes alive under lights. The engine runs a Brawler double pumper with an msd ignition system and the ve...hicle has had a set of extractors and a free flowing exhaust system fitted. It’s great to see these vehicles used the way they were intended to be and not just left in storage. Thanks guys for letting KTMR be part of the journey that this beautiful old school cruiser has travelled!. Mike and team. See more

29.12.2021 Darren’s HQ Wagon We did some mods to the L98 that he was planning to fit the Harrop blower to like gapping the factory rings, fitting new bearings, Rod bolts and a Blower cam. We also prepped the heads and fitted stainless Valves, moly pushrods, LS7 lifters and cometic head gaskets. Darren supplied us a conversion sump and we fitted that over a new oil pump, pickup and windage tray. The deal is held tight with arp fasteners and we fitted a Powerbond blower balancer before b...agging and tagging ready for pickup. Darren fitted the engine and blower to the car along with a 4L80 trans and a blower spec’d high stall converter that we supplied for him. We dyno tuned on E85 with a conservative 10psi boost. Plenty to blow the tyres off at will during Powercruise! See more

10.12.2021 Start up and walk around Greg’s HQ Tonner with LSA fitted.

08.12.2021 Darren’s CV8 Monaro had some Lovin’ with one of our Crow cam packages; cylinder heads re-furbished; all engine gaskets and seals replaced and a few other select goodies installed before refitting the engine and dyno tuning. We also fitted a hi stall 3000 RDP converter to round out the package.. Darren drives his Monaro regularly so we delivered a torquey yet very street-able combination for him to enjoy!

29.11.2021 Jason in Karen’s VF Valiant coupe cruising in the late arvo Riverway traffic! The car has great manners now since fitting Holley efi to the engine.

14.11.2021 Something to watch out for on LS powered vehicles is thrust bearing failure.. This 403 stroker engine had been running in high performance mode for a few thousand kms with a failing thrust bearing.. The owner brought it in because it was breaking down around 4000 rpm and decided it was time for a service and a bit of love. We discovered metal in the oil and that it had very low oil pressure once warmed up 18-20 psi) at idle and only 25 - 30psi at 4000 rpm. It wasnt low enough... to set an alarm but we knew that the pump relief must be jammed open. Probably most likely started from a brief oil starvation episode and a small single swarf sliver became lodged in the pump relief when the engine was cold and oil pressure was high. The LS relief is placed in the perfect position for this to occur unfortunately! A stuck relief valve won’t allow the pump to maintain pressure once oil temp and engine clearances reach their operating range. So the thrust bearing had been overheating and wearing excessively ( see pic over 30 thousands on the gauge) as a result and the slivers of swarf were building up. All the while the owner had no clue as everything was running the way it had since built until the engine began to break down.. This wasn’t something new plugs and leads would fix!.. The break down at ~4000rpm was the crankshaft harmonic floating the crank forward and aft in the block; and the reluctor wheel moving to such an extent that cylinder firing was getting mixed up. The engine was pulled and we tore it down to reveal the failure.. Sadly it had gone on too long to salvage the forged steel crank and it needed to be replaced. The main and Rod bearings were not too bad considering but we replaced them as part of the repair and had it re-installed. We also fitted a pressure gauge with a low pressure telltale light built in to monitor the oil pressure. It’s cheap insurance for the engine and a couple hundred dollar setup would have saved thousands in repairs had one been fitted. If you have an LS and especially one with some money invested in the engine, do yourself a favour and have some sort of low pressure warning or gauge fitted if you dont already have one! Text me if you need this done and we can work out a time See more

09.11.2021 Random machining, fabrication and engineering pics. Just for general interest!

29.10.2021 Freshened Iron block 6litre engine rated for 800 - 1000 hp is nearly completed I’m after EOI for selling this engine preferably to one of my existing customers. This combo had its rotating assembly originally making boosted power in an alloy 6litre block.. I did the ‘ol switcharoo and used the alloy block for my BANARO 408 combo. The balanced rotating assembly has now found its place floating on a set of Calico coated bearings inside this LQ4 iron block. The iron truck bloc...k 6 litre has been decked, bored and honed and fitted with Calico cam bearings and ARP main studs before fitting the built for boost rotating assembly that features inverted dome SRP forged pistons with upgraded wrist pins and steel top rings, Scat H beam rods with new ARP2000 rod bolts and new Calico HX bearings. Crank is factory LS standard stroke that has been nitrided and balanced. It has a 58x reluctor wheel fitted and pinned to the crank. Heads are rect port 5364 castings that have new stainless steel one piece intake and exhaust valves fitted with new PAC racing dual springs, steel retainers, machined locks and Viton seals. They will be secured to the block with a set of Cometic LS head gaskets using ARP head studs. A new Milodon windage tray finds its way under a new LS3 VF sump and pickup. Still awaiting arrival and fitting are a set of new LS7 lifters and new lifter guides; A custom spec Crow boost camshaft and rollmaster adjustable timing set with new IWIS chain and a new Melling M295 oil pump will be hiding under a Aeroflow 2piece billet timing cover. An ICT billet valley plate ; Trend pushrods and new GM factory offset rockers finishing off the top end. The engine will be for sale as a complete ready to drop in combo with factory LS rect port intake manifold, rocker covers and aftermarket balancer to suit a VE or VF but I can also retrofit sump, balancer and supply the 58 to 24 conversion module for fitment to VT-VZ commodore if required.. Price is 12k neg. More pics and detail coming soon! Genuine enquirer please Text me on my mobile with any specific requirements and we can go from there. Fitting and tuning also available if required. Mike See more

23.10.2021 Warm start up to idle with a couple of throttle blips Bear in mind the car has only got a 2.5 twin system on it as I don’t want to attract the wrong kind of admirers lol Also I have since replaced the blown licence plate bulb

16.10.2021 Terry has been on the limiter with JOYRIDE for quite a few events now. The little KTMR Racing built donk seems to love destroying tyres as it whips all around the pad! It also helps that Terry is an awesome pilot buzzing the little beast through the Smokey clouds on his way to the winners circle on more than one occasion! Well done TB! Here’s to some more in ‘22

10.10.2021 I wasn’t going to post this originally as I didn’t feel the finished result was worthy Fabrication of the first high capacity 8.5L sumps to suit VT-VZ Commodore These ones are on my BANARO and on Angelos HUSTLER CV8 Monaros. The process started on scraps of cardboard, sheets of alloy and using the original oil pan.. and ends with the final product ready to go onto the engine. While not a cheap exercise, the lack of an affordable aftermarket solution and lack of local fabrica...tors that could do the job in a reasonable time frame necessitated this approach... I know my tig welding on these is not the prettiest but it has proven to be strong Also bear in mind that I self taught myself only a couple of weeks before attempting to build these.. so please don’t judge too harshly So almost a year on my current welds look quite a bit better.. and these prototype high capacity sumps are still holding on the engines! While not really commercially viable to produce for sale; this post is really more about how a solution can be found by KTMR Racing. See more

28.09.2021 Big cammed turbo 6litre walk around after first fire up. Despite having a camshaft suited more for a naturally aspirated engine; Justin’s combo works very effectively and sounds tough as while doing its thang!
