22.01.2022 School shoes - its that time of the year! Kids feet spend A LOT of time growing in their school shoes and a good fit counts. A few tips on fitting.... ask in store if they can measure your childs foot length and width. One foot may be longer than the other - fit to the longer foot. there should be a thumbs width/1cm from the end of your childs longest toe to the end of the toe box of the shoe for growing room. check that it is not too tight or loose around the heel. the shoe should bend at the toes for support of normal foot movement and have some firmness to the heel counter with a padded heel collar. and importantly make sure they feel comfortable for your child. I have tried a few different brands over the years, and have found the New Balance leather look joggers last a tad bit longer with all the kicking sports they do at break time. DFO have an outlet, so we picked these up today for $60 a pair . Good luck and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

18.01.2022 I’m setting my alarm!!

17.01.2022 Last call for December appointments is the 14th of December 2020 :)

17.01.2022 Quick update about the provision of podiatry services at Carseldine Doctors and COVID-19. At this stage I will be in clinic this coming Monday 29th March 2020, but will be reducing my hours to 8-2.30pm temporarily. I strongly urge you to stay at home - it is the most effective way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and now more than ever is the time to do this.... It is reasonable to leave the house for some fresh air and exercise locally, for food supplies and necessary medical attention. So please, if your need is NON-ESSENTIAL podiatry services, reschedule your appointment. If you have an ESSENTIAL podiatry need that cannot be put off temporarily (such as an infected ingrown toenail, tissue breakdown or foot ulceration etc.), there are appointments available for now, IF YOU ARE WELL (no flu or cold symptoms) and have not recently been overseas or in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case. I will continue to exercise stringent cleaning practices of the clinic room, chair and contact surfaces, and exercise social distancing protocol with each client, and ask that you wash your hands on entry to the clinic room. If you have any questions, please reach out to me via Facebook or email me at [email protected]. You can also call the clinic to speak with reception staff on 3185 0000 for any appointment changes. We are all in this together and can save lives

17.01.2022 Thank you to all our wonderful nurses who do an amazing job every day.

17.01.2022 We value the health and wellness of all of the community. Given the current precautions around COVID-19 / Coronovirus, if have any flu/cold like symptoms, we strongly encourage you to stay home and contact us to reschedule your appointment to another time. Thank you for your understanding.

12.01.2022 I had my annual skin check today, something I do at the start of every year. Non-melanoma skin cancers can pop up anywhere on the skin where there has been high sun exposure, and are most likely to occur in your 60s - although can be earlier for some. Melanoma are much more complex and not always related to high sun exposed areas.... Sun cancers and melanoma can occur on your feet and lower legs, including in the nail or nail bed. Be aware of your spots and dots and keep an eye out for any newbies or changes in colour or size to existing ones. If you are concerned or worried, get an expert to check it out. And if you are interested, I learnt from my fantastic skin doctor today, that there is some great research coming out that vitamin B3 can help reduce non-melanoma skin cancers. Ive bought myself some today! Heres a link to some more info https://www.cancercouncil.com.au//the-role-of-vitamin-b3-/

09.01.2022 - IMPORTANT UPDATE ON COVID-19 VACCINES FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES - We have received confirmation from the Department of Health that all adults living with diabe...tes will be included in Phase 1b of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, which will begin on March 22. This is something we advocated for and we are glad the government has responded. Diabetes Australia, the Australian Diabetes Society and Australian Diabetes Educators Association are encouraging all adults with diabetes to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as the vaccine is available. The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective and have been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) rigorous testing process. Both vaccines currently approved by the TGA (Astra Zeneca and Pfizer) are suitable for use in adults living with diabetes. You can find more information about the vaccine roll-out here: https://www.health.gov.au//when-will-i-get-a-covid-19-vacc Each State/Territory government is responsible for administering vaccinations. For up-to-date information on vaccination locations please check with your State or Territory Department of Health.

06.01.2022 Beware of your slippers!!!

05.01.2022 Wonderful news and life-improving for our T1DM community!

05.01.2022 Did you know that core weakness can contribute to leg and foot pain? The core muscles include your stomach muscles as well as your hip abductors - yep the very important gluteus minimus and gluteus medius in our butt. If core muscles (particularly the gluteals) are weak, the pelvis will be unstable and this can increase lower extremity pronation. Its a chain reaction from the hips to the knees to the ankle, and the lower leg muscles can get stressed out.... So if your plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, or shin splints is not responding to usual treatment pathways, it may that be your core and glutes needs some work too. How? Think about adding PILATES into your week. If the above sounds like you and you are looking for a relaxed, small group reformer Pilates class (only 3 in a class so lots of individual help and modifications around your own ability), I can highly recommend Kathy at K Pilates Reformer Studio at Deagon. Let her help you find your core again ! www.kpilates.com.au

04.01.2022 Just in case you forgot about Valentines Day tomorrow.....

02.01.2022 For existing clients only not wanting or able to leave their home at the moment, I can come to you .

01.01.2022 Morning everyone . Speaking to some of my lovely clients this week, some who have limited support, do not drive, and have a range of chronic health issues, a lot were unaware that they can now have a consultation with their doctor and get a script organised via Telehealth. The doctors here at Carseldine Doctors are offering this service. Contact your GP to discuss access to this.... A range of allied health services have also been approved for Telehealth services, including Podiatry, for those that have chronic disease management plan in place and EPC referral. For podiatry, the scope of work we can practice via this method is limited, reach out to me if you have any questions about accessing this.

01.01.2022 Let there be cake! Thanks Carseldine Doctors for my cake day cake. It was delicious . #someoneishavingabirthdaythisweek
