23.01.2022 Ku-ring-gai Council has been awarded $398,000 from the NSW Governments Streets as Shared Spaces grant program for a separated cycleway in Gilroy Road Turramurra. The $15 million Streets as Shared Spaces grant program has been created as a result of the pandemic. According to the state government, it aims to transform streets across NSW into creative, vibrant and healthy public spaces. Projects winning funding include temporary street transformations, cycleways, pop up park...s and rejuvenated public spaces. Ku-ring-gai Council was awarded $398,000 in funding to create a cycleway in Gilroy Road Turramurra connecting Karuah Park with the Turramurra local centre. Safer crossings will also be installed at Brentwood Avenue and Gilroy Road for both pedestrians and cyclists to improve links with Karuah Park. Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the Gilroy Road cycleway could be completed by June next year. "This is a great step forward for our plan to create more cycleways and make selected streets in Ku-ring-gai more pedestrian-friendly," Mayor Anderson said.
23.01.2022 DRIVE IN CINEMA COMING TO ST IVES! In exciting local news, Sunset Cinema in partnership with Ku-ring-gai Council have announced that St Ives Showground will be the location for a new drive in cinema from October 1-31. After a long winter of isolation, this is the perfect entertainment option - remain socially distanced from other movie goers while in the comfort of your own car. Its great value for just $50 for up to 8 people in the car... plus dogs are welcome too! Theyll show a selection of nostalgic classics, family films and long-awaited blockbuster releases. For information visit @thesunsetcinema.
23.01.2022 What we know as the Roseville Cinemas was once a Town Hall building. It was built back in the early 1900s by @kuringgai_council to play host to local meetings and dances. When World War I broke out, the space was used to hold Australia's first recruitment drive for soldiers. Since 1919 it has served as one Sydney's few surviving independent cinemas. We're grateful for its place in our community. Photo courtesy @raywhite.uppernorthshore.
