20.01.2022 Kuditj would like to welcome our New Apprentice Chef Tanika Warrell. Tanika is a Young Aboriginal Noongar woman who began her School Based Traineeship with Kuditj 2 years ago. Tanika has always had a keen interest in the Hospitality industry, especially in the kitchen! Every Friday, Tanika would show up for her shift through school based placement with great energy and enthusiasm. Tanika has shown a real commitment and drive to create a clear path for her future. After compl...eting her Traineeship Certificate 2 in hospitality through the SMYL programme, Tanika has recently undertaken a full Chef Apprenticeship at Kuditj. At just 17 years old, Tanika is excited to start her training under the guidance of Head Chef George Seal. On behalf of Sodexo, the team at Kuditj is extremely excited to offer Tanika a full chef apprenticeship. 10.01.2022 The Garma Festival attracts an exclusive gathering of 2,500 political and business leaders from across the globe. Impressive music performances, art, education, and cultural celebrations marked the event’s 20th anniversary this year, with Indigenous, corporate, government and community leaders coming together during the annual Key Forum to discuss the most pressing issues facing Australia. This year, 50 Sodexo employees from all sites and parts of the business across Austral...ia had the unique opportunity to work at Garma this year. Behind the scenes, the Sodexo team was busy ensuring the smooth operation of the event providing clean facilities, catering and hospitality services for all guests and attendees. Sodexo catered 19, 500 meals over 5 days as well as 2 VIP functions. Celia Maiho from Sodexo’s Kuditj was the Garma Project Manager this year, exclaiming our Garma staff were amazing, it was an absolute pleasure working with everyone involved. You all made this year such a success! She added: I would like to say a special thanks to the cleaning crews, as it is not an easy task keeping bush showers & toilets clean, they did an amazing job considering the ‘rustic’ facilities that sit idle through the year. I have had so many compliments on services and fantastic feedback on the food; The Sodexo team was also mentioned during the Q&A and on the main stage. Corporate and VIP clients were highly impressed with the standard of food and service we delivered in the beautiful remote bush setting. This was my second year at Garma every year is always a different experience. With different staff every year, it is wonderful to see all Sodexo staff immerse themselves in this cultural experience. This is an event that not many people have the pleasure to attend. Garma is important to Aboriginal culture being able to attend and learn about this beautiful culture is very much once in a lifetime opportunity. Some of our employees, including myself had the pleasure of being blessed by one of the elders, Djalu Gurruwiwi, this was truly an amazing experience for me.
