24.01.2022 Just a quick post to remind everyone that there is no Training today. Enjoy you public holiday and see you all again tomorrow.

23.01.2022 Our new look sparring kit. Nearly makes us look like we know what we are doing. Chayce and Douglas have been working really hard for the Kingaroy open on the 9th.

16.01.2022 A good shade tree (or be a great martial artist) takes about 5 years to grow. The best time to plant (or start martial arts training) is right now.

16.01.2022 Just finished our first parent and youngling grappling session. What a great turnout and I thank and appreciate the enthusiasm of everyone who joined in. Wrestl...ing the kids will never be the same again and I hope it becomes something that continues to happen at home. I’ve got a heap of cool games and drills if anyone is interested. My aim is to get these out into the community so that more young parents can be exposed to the positive benefits of making martial arts part of our daily lives - for example Mum and Dad will form a tighter bond with their young clones and the kids will develop super powers to deal with anything life can throw at them. 11.01.2022 I'm organising a FREE Saturday morning workshop for parents with young children 4-6 years. It will be for 30 minutes which is about the attention span of both me, them and a small kitten playing with a laser dot on the floor. The aim is to promote active families and educate parents on how they can be a greater and positive influence in their childs lives through martial arts training. As nothing is ever straight forward with me there will be some play acting involved for mum and dad. Mum has to be the super hero overlord and Dad has to be a bank robber and your kids get to defeat you a lot!! Did I mention that it was free? We will also have our remedial massage therapist on hand in case that small harmless and cute 4 year old hurts you :) Contact me as soon as you read this amazing 'once in a light year' event and share it alot.

10.01.2022 Clearly I have nothing better to do in the mornings. If I can convince anyone to join me for some early morning training we might be able to build it into something regular. I'm thinking some hitting, some kicking and perhaps even some throwing onto the really soft crash mat?? We'll see :) Let me know.

08.01.2022 Earlier this week a work colleague and myself were tasked with inspecting and documenting the subfloor space of an historical building that is requiring substantial rectification work. Before leaving the office I jokingly suggested a bull dozer but nobody laughed . So for nearly an hour we crawled and dragged ourselves around a blanket of rubble and assorted sharp things, vast networks of spider webs, suspended pipe work, low head banging timber framing and around a suspic...ious mud puddle. Turns out I totally enjoyed my morning adventure as it became more like an imaginative workout than work. If jujutsu training had a real life application other than self defence then this was it. My colleague on the other hand did not fair so well. He struggled throughout the task, barely able to negotiate the tight spaces we needed to assess and scan (we have a 3D scanner, really cool). I won’t embarrass him with stats but we are close in age and his lifestyle is very different to mine. 24 hours later he was barely able to move and regretful of having to be subjected to the torture of physical activity outside the safe and predictable confines of the design office complete with the latest coffee machine technology whereas I felt great and invigorated (and convinced we should bring in a bulldozer instead of renovation.) YES THERE IS A POINT TO THIS!! As I approach my 393rd hatching day reminder celebrations when my 1.5billion of my closest Facebook friends will cast copious amounts of accolades and birthday money at me and my young dojo (Monday I think) I am reminded of the fact that I am no longer able to do physically what I could all those centuries ago back in the distant memory of my youth. BUT one thing remains in my favour is that I have always remained active with my martial arts. It is keeping me healthy and literally prepared to face life everyday. My big declaration here is that no matter where we are now it is not beyond us to reboot our aging bodies back into action. Obviously I’m going to promote my martial arts because I’m totally invested in what it has given me in terms of super power since my teen years. Very few activities can offer a lifetime of benefits that the martial arts can. If you got to the end of this post then congratulations and if you are are even a bit curious please give me a call and I will try to convince you to experience what I know. See more

05.01.2022 Here is something to think about. Massage Therapy has been and always will be an effective tool for treating pain and managing injury. It is no secret that a regular massage will in fact improve the quality of life, especially in the area of lifestyle stress related ailments. I'm quickly closing in on 40 years of martial arts training and in that time I have relied on massage many times as a means of helping repair my various training injuries. So impressed am I about the benefits of massage that I went out and married my very own Therapist.

02.01.2022 Back to School: Connection between Learning & Martial Arts Parents want their kids to grow up into healthy and capable young adults. For this to happen they must develop an ongoing working balance between physical activity and academic pursuit. Martial Arts training continues to be an effective physical compliment to learning for children. As parents we get zero education on the proven and inseparable DNA connection between learning and regular physical activity. With invest...ed parents backing them up children who submit themselves to a routine of regular and strenuous physical activity always display better stress management skills and sharper focus as well as a measured ability to take in and retain new information. Here are some benefits to starting martial arts: Improvement of hand-eye coordination (good prep for other sports) Brings forward the capacity for razor sharp focus and attention in the present Builds courage and self-confidence to stand against bullying Combative sports will develop real life stress management skills in study and work The accomplishment of a Black Belt sets up a pathway to future accomplishments

01.01.2022 Koryu Uchinadi is system of old school karate training that can be practiced and integrated into any system of karate training without affecting the overall cosmetics of that style. Practical training flying under the radar of politics - WIN, WIN!!

01.01.2022 Pretty much everyday I watch how my grandchillen (grand children for the OCD folk) are growing and being affected by the environment they are subjected to and it causes me to reflect deeply, and at times sadly, on how we as parents, and grandparents can pretty much set in concrete the future of their young lives. I have actually read the HANDBOOK FOR NEW PARENTS and I couldn't see one piece of evidence in that handbook where it says that our children have to be like us. In f...act I am pretty sure that in the chapter on success they are required by natural law to far surpass anything that we could even imagine for ourselves. The term is 'ELITE PERFORMERS' and it belongs to our children. HABITS is the manner in which our children learn and respond to their environment. Making their own bed becomes a personal habit which eventually shows up in every aspect of their lives forever. Showing up to karate training (business plug) when it is cold and raining is a behavioural habit which makes them tougher than steel. Taking our children to training when we don't feel like it because we have had a bad day is a habit of commitment because we want them to be better than us. Telling our children they are amazing everyday is an affirmation habit that affects their subconscious and one that will pay huge dividens of that childs future that you and they can't even visulize yet. If you want a copy of the HANDBOOK FOR NEW PARENTS go to the mirror and look back on your live so far. It might suck at first as you look through the first few chapters but it does get better, especially if you implement some of the lessons learned. Everyones book will read different but one thing is certain - "The Course Of Every River Can Be Altered" if we put enough energy into it. See more

01.01.2022 Summers looming and I'm looking to order some new look shirts for training. I need some feedback - positive or negative. Maybe give me some suggestions. I need to finalise by the end of the month so let me know. Thanks everyone :)
