09.01.2022 Sadly cemeteries are closed in Poland for All Saint's Day this year due to surging coronavirus numbers but we're sure the traditions and memories of loved ones are still being honoured from home. Normally, this time of the year the cemeteries in Poland turn into a sea of candles and memories. All Saint's Day is an emotional day where Poland’s past and present come together in a moving act of national and individual remembrance, for those who fought to give them life and t...o give respect to those who no longer are with them. There are many extraordinary customs and traditions relating to the days of Souls and Saints - such as lighting your own candle at an empty nearby grave to make sure no soul gets forgotten, leaving doors and windows slightly open, or the tradition of leaving food at the table, in case any passing visiting souls are hungry. Long ago, rural people also did a thorough clean in preparation to make it as comfortable for the souls as possible to visit their old home. #polishtraditions #folktraditions
