25.01.2022 Hello. It's been a while since I've posted here, I've been more in the Instagram space recently and juggling life in our Covid world. I've put down a few thoughts and the 75th anniversary of WWII, and how navigate our Covid lives. I hope you're keeping well and safe.... http://www.abc.net.au//kumi-taguchi-nagasaki-hiro/12529238

19.01.2022 It was a real privilege to co-host this documentary - and also have it recognised by the Japanese Consul-General here in Sydney. I am, literally, made up of two sides of one war. It felt significant and made me realise how important moments like these are.

18.01.2022 It is May and I am not sure how that happened but here we are! Time seems to be moving differently these days and I don’t have any real markers to break up the last month. Life is busy albeit in a very small world. We created and launched the ABC’s first Instagram Live show, called Cuppa with Kumi. It’s a weekday afternoon program where we catch up over a cuppa and chat about the times we are living in. We are aiming for an 8-week season at this stage. I am itching to get in...to nature, adventures and writing my book. They are food for the soul. I’m looking ahead in my calendar to see when I might be able take some time off and recharge. I appreciate your support as ever. And I hope you are keeping well and connected to others, and being kind to yourself. ... 16.01.2022 Hello :) It's been a while since I've been on here. I hope you're all doing well and keeping safe. I wanted to tell you about a film my wonderful team has made. Not only was it produced entirely in lockdown, but the team also mentored emerging filmmakers along the way. I'm so proud of them - and the seven young filmmakers who pushed their own lockdown boundaries, letting us into their lives.... It's on this Tuesday 29th September at 9:30pm on ABCTV. And anytime after that on iview. https://amp.abc.net.au/article/12705292

13.01.2022 Was such a privilege and loads of fun working with Catalyst on the Teeth Clinic. I learned so much! I hope you do too, and enjoy seeing some amazing parts of Oz and meeting great people. This Tuesday 28th April at 8.30pm on ABCTV #abccatalyst

13.01.2022 I'm still deciding what to do with my social media during this time. I may post more than once a month here. I've been spending too much time on Twitter. I'm trying to find the right balance, in these spaces and so many others now. ... I just want to say I'm thinking of you and all the readjustments and recalibrating that is happening in your life. I'm thinking of job losses, separations from family, oceans that can't be crossed and doors that can't be opened. Hugs that can't... be shared. ... And I'm making sure my daughter keeps her routine, school and life going as much as I can. We've bought skateboards. We've bought books. We're nurturing plants. We're playing games. We're being silly together. ... She was up early this morning, at her desk. I'll be at mine here at home, working on ways to bring you content, connection and conversation from afar. Stay safe today and be kind to yourself x See more

06.01.2022 Happy March to you. March already? I'm a day late to this as I gave myself the weekend off :) The highlight was heading into town to watch the Sydney Mardi Gras parade. For the first time, the ABC had a float! I was so happy to see my wonderful colleagues celebrate and dance and laugh and be together. I have been head down in dozens of books and meetings to shore up the final pieces of our next story jigsaw. I really enjoy the creative process. My only concern now is that w...e still get to fly out to Japan towards the end of the month. The coronavirus is hanging over us, fingers crossed we still get to go. I really want to tell this story, it is an important one. Finally, Compass is back on-air on Sunday 8th March at 6.30pm on ABC TV, and anytime on iView. We have a great first episode on Physie. Are you a Physie person? You might see me in a few Sunday newspaper liftouts, promoting the show and the season ahead. ... Thank you, as always, for your support. ... 05.01.2022 Hello to you, in these strangest of times. I can’t get my head around how much has changed in a month. I could write one of these each day, to be honest, given the rollercoaster we are on right now. But I will stick to this familiar monthly post for comfort. So, April. For me, it is a month synonymous with cherry blossoms in Japan. ... Our Japan story, of course, was cancelled and our unit has been working hard to re-configure our plan for this year. The challenge of creating... content is huge (not just for us, all media organisations, streaming services etc). But we have come up with some exciting ideas. Watch this space. ... I worked on an episode of Catalyst last year, which was great fun. The highlight was travelling to far-west Queensland to the tiny town of Quilpie, getting my boots dusty and meeting the most wonderful dentist, who operates out of a truck. The episode is due to air at the end of April, I’ll post more closer to the time. ... I hope you are staying healthy and connected to others as much as possible. We are a strong, resilient and adaptable species but we also need time to contemplate and adjust. It is OK, normal and healthy to feel a bit tender.
