25.01.2022 This is an old friend from school who is making great leaps forward in the world of Australian fashion design. Young students may not see the importance of maths in life, but numbers and maths extend far beyond the use of just money in the real world! This is what Kumon aims to do, develop strong mathematicians who apply their knowledge far beyond the classroom. ... Please like and share with your friends.
24.01.2022 I would recommend Kumon to any parent because I think it builds children’s confidence and it gives them a good foundation to help prepare them for higher levels. When they master one level they can move on to a higher level, and they’re advancing at their own pace, Monica, a Kumon parent. Kumon is running a free trial throughout August and we’d love to welcome you to a centre! To register your child, please contact me on 0406 196 300 or email [email protected]... Please like and share this offer!

22.01.2022 From counting to calculus, Kumon breaks mathematics down into small steps to ensure students master a topic before they move on. This prepares students for the study of advanced mathematics and shows them no problem is too difficult to attempt.

18.01.2022 Kumon centres are still open and offering a home-based programme Dear Kumon Students and Families,... Our first priority is the health and welfare of all students, parents and staff. Kumon centres are still open and offering a home-based programme. If the government on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer closes schools to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, Kumon is ready to go to 100 percent home-based study for the duration. Kumon will always comply with CMO and governmentadvice. Worksheets are being provided from your centre, so your child’s learning is not interrupted. Kumon is traditionally a home-based, pencil and paper programme. It is designed for students to study at home every day on their own. It is ideal for extended periods at home. For a short time, every day, no calculator, no keyboard, no screen, no high-speed internet connection necessary. Students take out their worksheets, pick up a pencil, read, think, write, and use an eraser to correct their errors. Kumon Instructors can effectively manage communication with families through a variety of electronic means. We hope it is reassuring to know your child’s Kumon programme can continue during this period. Please contact me for details and to make arrangements now. Procedures at each centre will vary during this period.

17.01.2022 Kumon Menai COVID-19 Centre Update 22/3/2020 Dear Parents, Thank you so much for your patience during this time of uncertainty. It has been a very difficult time to plan how to best continue providing the Kumon program to your children. As of Friday 20/3, the Menai Illawong Church closed its doors for an unspecified period of time. This means that I am unable to provide face to face instruction within a centre setting. We will be moving to a drop off/pick up system. This mean...s that your children will be able to continue their Kumon study. How is this going to work? We will be setting up a drop off/pick up point on the nature strip between the church car park and the walkway that leads up to Bataan Close. Pick up/drop off time will be 3:30-6:00pm Tues and Friday. If the weather is bad, and it is raining, further details will be provided for the pick up/drop off location. Will there be face to face support? When you pick up/drop off sheets, there will be a number of staff there to answer any pressing questions. They will also do their best to provide you with instructions on any new topics your child may come across. New topics will generally have a red star at the top of the page. Please look out for these stars when collecting work. Please also remember that I am available for phone support at any time. Please send me a text with the following details: level, page number, and question number. Alternatively, just send me a picture of the problematic question. What needs to be done for Kumon to continue to work: It is more critical than ever that parents complete these actions at home before exchanging new sheets: - ensure homework is completed as best as possible - write name, date, starting/finishing times on each booklet - mark homework and complete any corrections - contact me if there any any questions regarding the work Once again, thank you so much for you patience and support. As new information comes to hand, or if new closures are enforced, things may need to change again. Let's hope for the best. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time on 0406196300 or via email [email protected] Please share this with other Kumon Menai parents. Regards Toby Shi

If you are interested in an education that you can do at home during your self-isolation time, give Kumon a try! ... 0406 196 300 [email protected]
15.01.2022 Dear parents. Due to the new laws introduced by the government regarding congregating as a group, please take the following steps when picking up Kumon work. The Kumon sign will be placed approximately 10metres away from the main tables. ... Please wait at the Kumon sign and a staff member will come across to swap your work and take any homework. If your child is doing a test, this will happen in your car. I will forewarn you if they have an upcoming test. Everyone stay safe and take care. Please share or pass on the message. Regards Toby

10.01.2022 16 March 2019 Parents, please read these latest recommendations from the Australian Government Department of Health regarding COVID-19: https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea 1. People who have been in contact with any confirmed COVID-19 cases must be isolated in their home for 14 days following exposure.... 2. Returned travellers from overseas countries must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival in Australia. We thank you for assisting us by keeping any children who are unwell away from the Kumon Centre. We expect this will need to continue with staff and students for the foreseeable future. How you can help us: Keep unwell children at home. Send your child to class with their own drink bottle and supplies (pencil and eraser). Teach your child the correct coughing and sneezing etiquette (into their elbow or into a tissue). Encourage your child to always wash their hands thoroughly and use hand sanitiser if it is provided. Thank you for helping us to maintain student, parent and staff safety.
09.01.2022 If you are interested in a 2 week free trial, please PM me or contact me on 0406196300 or [email protected]
08.01.2022 Dear Parents, Due to the updated Government directives regarding COVID-19, we are no longer able to operate on the church grounds. One of our long time supporters have very kindly offered the use of their front yard (carport during rainy days) to allow us to continue the pick-up/drop-off of worksheets. ... Betty and Graham Stokes are an elderly couple who manage the church hall bookings and have been with me since I first started in 2010. They have kindly offered the use of their property so that we can continue to offer you the program and face to face support. Pick up and drop off details will occur at the following address: 84 Bignell Street, Illawong Tues and Fri 3:30-6pm We will be seated at the front of the property. Hope to see you all soon!!!! Please share this with your friends and family.
06.01.2022 We wish all our families a Happy Lunar New Year! May you have a prosperous year ahead!
03.01.2022 Dear Kumon Parents, I have had to make a very difficult decision. Due to the governments strict social distancing laws, I do not feel it is safe for me and my staff to continue sheet distribution in its current form. As of Tues 7th of April 2020, sheets will be distributed solely via post until further notice. There will no longer be any face to face support. All support will be conducted via phone or video conferencing.... On Friday 3rd April 2020, I will come down to Illawong/Menai to complete my last delivery of sheets and provide my last bit of in person support. Please text me if you require more sheets along with your current address. I will deliver 1 weeks worth of sheets. Sheets will be delivered to your address. No pick up will be available from Bignell Street. From Tues 7th April Kumon Menai will run as follows: 1. Sheets will be posted on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please provide me at least 3 days notice and I will post 1 weeks worth of sheets to your address (please allow for postage time and delays). 2. I will be available for video (via Whatsapp)/phone support Tuesday and Friday 4-7pm. I can be contacted via SMS or Whatsapp message support throughout the week also. 3. All marking will need to occur at home. After marking has occured, parents will need to complete an online score book (I will provide the link to individual parents). Maths marking books are now available online. Further instructions will be provided via email. 4. Achievement tests will also be mailed out along with the corresponding answers. Once tests are completed, we will make a decision on how to progress to the next level. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding. I hope we can make this work and continue your child's growth and developing education. Regards Toby Shi 0406 196 300 [email protected]
03.01.2022 Great news. Due to the easing of restrictions, Kumon head office have now allowed centres to run with a maximum of 10 persons in centre at anytime! Now just waiting on Menai Illawong Uniting Church to open the hall again! It won't be long now! Can't wait to see everyone again!
02.01.2022 Dear Kumon Menai Students and Families, Kumon Menai takes very seriously the health and welfare of all students, staff and parents. Currently we are still open for worksheet study at the centre. Your children are welcome to attend class as normal. But if you would rather pick up worksheets for home study at this time, or reduce days of attendance, please contact me to make arrangements. ... In the event of mass school closures due to COVID-19, unfortunately I will have to temporarily cease worksheet study in the centre in compliance with government and health authority advice. Worksheets will be provided from the centre by mail or pickup for the duration of the school closures. Continued worksheet study at home will ensure disruption to your child’s progress is minimised. Practices such as those we put in place for worksheet study at home or away over the extended summer holiday period will apply. My aim is to keep the centre as accessible and as safe as possible, while also providing comfortable alternatives in the case of any escalation in the situation. Whilst navigating the daily inflow of information and changes surrounding the situation, I hope it is reassuring to know your Kumon programme will continue smoothly one way or another. Best regards Toby
