22.01.2022 Kumon Pimlico is still open but ready for home study! Kumon is traditionally a home-based, pencil and paper programme. It is designed for students to study at home every day on their own. It is ideal for extended periods at home. For a short time, every day, no calculator, no keyboard, no screen, no high-speed internet connection necessary. Students take out their worksheets, pick up a pencil, read, think, write, and use an eraser to correct their errors. Contact us to learn how Kumon can support the development of your childs maths and reading. #supportlocaltownsville

21.01.2022 We would like to offer a gentle reminder to parents and students to protect yourself and others from getting sick by washing your hands or using a sanitiser before going to your Kumon class. Together, lets keep good hygiene habits at home and at Kumon.

21.01.2022 Some great tips to help get the most out of Kumon at home!

19.01.2022 Why is Kumon so popular for pre-school aged children? Have a look at Joe on level 5A, where the aim is for him to read aloud sound parts and short sentences. We increase his vocabulary by introducing 113 new words and also trace letters neatly in the correct direction and stroke order. Preparing him for school next year.

19.01.2022 Still taking enrolments Kumon Pimlico, a home based Maths and English programme, are still holding regular Parent Orientations and FREE diagnostic testing! Click the Book now button to secure a time.

18.01.2022 What are you doing this weekend to relax and unwind? We are thinking of a play in the park with friends, a ride around the river and maybe roasting marshmallows on the fire pit to top it off Of course 10 min of Kumon will be squeezed in somewhere......... because learning doesn't have to stop.

17.01.2022 The one in the hammock enjoying a book = progress. Persistence is key.... and some gentle encouragement every now and then! #happysunday

15.01.2022 Its almost time. Awards day 2019!! @lushballoonco @partytimetownsville @supportlocaltownsville

14.01.2022 At Kumon, students develop a mindset that no problem is too difficult to attempt! They feel empowered to have a go and give the worksheet a try. Dont we all want this for our children?

14.01.2022 Have you ever heard of students looking forward to a test? At Kumon they do!! Passing an Achievement Test indicates that a student has achieved mastery of the concepts in that level and has the skills necessary to handle the work to follow..... And reaching their grade level is definitely a reason to celebrate Well done Alex!

11.01.2022 What a fabulous day at the @pakmag_online Expo! Celebrating their 9th Birthday. It was a huge success and great for Townsville.

10.01.2022 As we begin welcoming students back to the centre we wish to say a big Thankyou to our Kumon parents and guardians! The extra workload you have taken on, marking and recording worksheets and encouraging your children to continue their home study will no doubt stand out in your childrens progress! Well done!

10.01.2022 Self learning is the set of skills and capabilities that allow one to pursue learning independently and to acquire new knowledge. Dont you love it when your children have the lightbulb moment?! #priceless !

09.01.2022 A very interesting read, especially given the resent data showing Australian students have dropped further behind other developed countries in their maths, reading and science performance. Kumon promotes independent learning and problem solving with the worksheets and they only need to spend 20 min( give or take a little) on a worksheet. No need to add 20 hours to your childs study and they can still have fun! https://www.msn.com//in-china-nicholas-studied/ar-BBXGBX6

07.01.2022 When Kumon students encounter a new problem, concept or challenge, they have a go by themselves first. They study the examples, draw on previous learning and give it a try. They try and fail until they are finally able to do it. They come to expect the challenge of a difficult problem and the joy of discovering something new for themselves. They learn no problem is ever too difficult to attempt to solve. Watch this video to learn how completing Kumon Maths helped Jesse to have a strong Year 12 by building in him the skill of self-learning.

07.01.2022 Yay! Congratulations Molly. I do hope you get to use the movie voucher very soon.

06.01.2022 Need a little reminder on how to mark the maths worksheets? Here is a short video to help. Benefits of marking include: Reduces the number of errors in future worksheets. Consolidates the content for the day.... Gives a sense of accomplishment when students correct the book to 100%. For parents you can see on a daily basis the progress your child is making and it is a great time to give recognition and praise for their effort. Mistakes are an integral part of learning, timely correction makes the most of this learning opportunity. See more

04.01.2022 Kumon centres are still open and offering a home-based programme! Dear Kumon Students and Families, Our first priority is the health and welfare of all students, parents and staff.... Kumon centres are still open and offering a home-based programme. If the government on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer closes schools to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, Kumon is ready to go to 100 percent home-based study for the duration. Kumon will always comply with CMO and government advice. Worksheets are being provided from your centre, so your childs learning is not interrupted. Kumon Instructors can effectively manage communication with families through a variety of electronic means. We hope it is reassuring to know your childs Kumon programme can continue during this period. Please contact us for details and to make arrangements now. Procedures at each centre will vary during this period.

03.01.2022 Kumon doesnt have to take up all of their play time during the holidays. We have adjusted the boys study plan so fitting in Kumon while away is much more achievable. *Addison took the opportunity yesterday to get his work done while travelling.

03.01.2022 Blowing off a bit of steam today! Couldnt escape these monkeys though! #isolationlife

02.01.2022 Another great benefit of studying Kumon!

01.01.2022 With homeschool being thrust upon so many busy families at the beginning of the term, it is great to hear such positive outcomes like this! Thank you to Sarah and the girls for sharing with us you experience. Your hard work is absolutely paying off. How did you have to modify your approach to home study ? ... We had to modify the times the girls did Kumon which was for the better especially with online learning from school aswell. They were happier to do some Kumon in the morning as I didn't have to get them up so early and they were able to do another earlier in the afternoon due to no sports. Because we were also doing 2 x 10 page books a day, I didn't make the girls do Kumon over the weekend which helped greatly with them doing it through the week. It also gave me leverage if they didn't want to do it one day during the week, they had to do it on the weekend. What has been the biggest struggle? The biggest struggle which hasn't really changed before home study has been getting the girls to do it. Out of the 3 of them there is always 2 that have a whinge. Fortunately it only took a few days before the 'new' routine kicked in and they were sort of happy to do it. Also because they were only doing 5 pages due to being so busy during the week, getting them to do 10 pages was a struggle. What has been your greatest moment? Getting them to do 10 pages instead of the 5 they have been doing before home study started. Especially when they worked out English books were easier when they did a whole book and not 1/2. Seeing the look of achievement when they get a book 100% when they have been struggling on it for a while. Sometimes you get a feeling that they aren't advancing, then they will come home from school and make a comment on something and you go yes, they have got it!. What do you think KUMON has helped with the most ? Depends on the child...My youngest, concentration and copying things correctly (in english) - getting better on this but still a problem. My middle one - comprehension, meaning of words, quick recall in maths. My eldest - that she can do it even when she thinks she can't, cementing time tables.
