18.01.2022 The Happiest Man on Earth by Eddie Jaku I finished reading this book last night. I LOVED IT in so many ways - mainly it felt genuine and its simplicity was impactful. It was easy to keep turning the pages. My key takeaways:... 1. In the best and worst of times, education is a lifesaver. 2. The human body is the best machine ever made...Eddie writes,Every day in Auschwitz, my body was pushed to its absolute limit, and then further. It was starved, beaten, frozen, wounded. But it kept me going. It kept me alive. And now, it has kept me alive for more than one hundred years. What a marvellous piece of machinery! So well said! 3. Happiness doubles each time you share it. Eddie again shares,Happiness does not fall from the sky; it is in your hands. Happiness comes from inside yourself and from the people you love. And if you are healthy and happy, you are a millionaire. 4. We are all part of a larger society and our work is our contribution to a free and safe life for all. I could keep going. Reading this book made me feel like an elder was imparting very profound truths. Let me know if you would like to read it.

17.01.2022 My love of reading was reignited four years ago around the time I started my Kumon business. I have read more books in the last four years than I have my entire life prior to that point. I cannot emphasise enough how pleasure reading evolves us - our actions and thoughts. Before we expect our children to pick up a book, we as adults should read too, so we can share the joys of reading with them. Do read the article by Jane Goodall.

In Kumon English, reading aloud helps young children learn the sounds of letters as they trace the letters with a pencil. This will later on support young children to spell and read on their own.

10.01.2022 IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE THIS, THINK HARD BEFORE YOU DO! I have loved reading this book - UNTAMED by Glennon Doyle. Did I make a mistake giving my children mobile phones because every other kid had one? Yes I possibly did. ... The author sums it up beautifully - But I find myself worrying most that when we hand our children phones we steal their boredom from them. As a result, we are raising a generation of writers who will never start writing, artists who will never start doodling, chefs who will never make a mess of the kitchen, athletes who will never kick a ball against a wall, musicians who will never pick up their aunt’s guitar and start strumming. Did you know one of the lowest use of phones among children is in Silicon Valley? Those who made phones are creative people, and they want their children to become people who create, not just consume. They don’t want their children searching for themselves out there; they want them discovering themselves in here. They know that phones were designed to keep us addicted to exterior life and that if we never dive inward, we never become who we were meant to be.

This is the time range in which students should complete their daily worksheet study as they progress through their Kumon levels. This time range also includes time taken for corrections, ensuring 100% for every worksheet. This is one of the key indicators Kumon Instructors use to gain more insight into your childs learning. Therefore, when studying in centre or at home, it is so important that your child always writes the start and finish time on every worksheet set.
