In this video, the student is reading aloud to his Mum so she can listen to his fluency and expression. This gives the students Mum the opportunity to guide him by saying, Try that one again. This interaction gives the student confidence to keep going and prevents mistakes from becoming a habit. 15.01.2022 Kumon Centres are still open but we are ready for home-based study in the event of school closures Dear Kumon Students and Families, At Kumon, our first priority is the health and welfare of all students, staff and parents. ... Kumon Centres are still open. However, if schools close to slow the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, Kumon is ready to go to home-based study until schools reopen. This is to comply with health authority advice and government regulations. Worksheets can be provided from your centre for the duration of the school closures, so your childs learning is not interrupted. Kumon is traditionally a home-based, pencil and paper programme. It is designed for students to study at home every day on their own. It is ideal for extended periods at home. For a short time, every day, no calculator, no keyboard, no screen, no high-speed internet connection necessary. Students take out their worksheets, pick up a pencil, read, think, write, and use an eraser to correct their errors. Kumon Instructors can effectively manage communication with families through a variety of electronic means. Continued daily worksheet study at home will ensure that disruption to your childs progress and learning is minimised. We hope it is reassuring to know your childs Kumon programme can continue during this period. Please contact your Kumon centre for details and to make arrangements now. Kumon is a home-based, pencil and paper programme students can study, at home, every day on their own.... Our worksheets are ideal for extended periods at home. The mathematics worksheets develop calculation ability. The English worksheets develop reading comprehension. Learning continues at home Kumon is a partnership between student, parent and Instructor. This partnership continues during extended periods at home. The Instructor creates an individualised study plan for each student, and sends home the worksheets they are ready to learn next on their own.
