20.01.2022 A film by Kundu Productions coming to SBS on May 27th. It's hard to imagine a more haunting, soulful and beautiful version of the Last Post. It will feature in a documentary I've made with Ray Martin and others to air on SBS at 8.30pm on May 27th: Australian Hero: Keith Payne VC.... When Ray and I first heard Gold Coast musician Rachel Bostock give her unique violin touch to the Last Post, we knew immediately we just had to include her in our film. The masterful camera work is from Andy Taylor and the sounds captured by Jo Bursill.

19.01.2022 This is the stunning story of Napier Waller, an artist who lost his right arm - his drawing and writing arm/hand - in the 1916 Battle of Bullecourt. He learned to write and draw with his left hand - and went on to make some of Australia's most famous murals ( think Myer Emporium and Newspaper House in Melbourne )and become one the world's great mosaicists. Apart from the stained glass windows, Waller used six million mosaics specially imported from Italy. My film includes some wonderful archive of Waller working on the project and cinematography from Andy Taylor , Robb Shaw-Velzen with sound from Jo Bursill .

Those words by our former defence chief and recent Governor-General go to the heart of the story of one of our greatest Australians and our oldest Victoria Cross recipient, Keith Payne....Continue reading
