22.01.2022 I’m sure everyone has heard about the restrictions being imposed on the Metro, Peel and South West. At this stage we are business as usual but we are asking everyone to use the common sense you’ve been practicing over the past 10 months. Please notify reception staff if you have any flu like symptoms where you will be advised to place a mask on prior to entering. Let’s all not panic and work together at keeping our community safe.
21.01.2022 Writing this from a distance, and I see that the page is not being actively updated. This is understandable as Dr Olat is working very hard to give what I hear is an excellent service. May I remind everybody that the clinic remains completely at your service, and encourage you to support the clinic as well as you have supported me in the past. By all accounts, you have an excellent doctor in the area, and the clinic staff are not too shabby either!
19.01.2022 Flu jabs! I understand that there are issues in being able to provide flu shots for some - many - of you. In these days of odd situations, we have had a conversation within the practice, and have decided that on this coming Tuesday 5th May I shall be attending in Mukinbudin in the afternoon,. and bringing with me all the supplies we need for influenza immunisation. Would you please spread the word to all in the community? Not everyone there is on FaceBook. Share this with ev...eryone you feel needs to hear, and please then book in for the clinic. Call us in the office here in Kununoppin today, and Monday, so that we can arrange for adequate supplies. Stay happy and healthy over the weekend, and happy seeding!
14.01.2022 At last! Normal services will resume from next week. As if anything is normal about what we do. Let me rephrase that: from next week I will be attending as usual at the clinics in Mukinbudin, Beacon and Bencubbin. Using HotDoc as before, you can book in your appointments or, if there is no space, give a call to the office in Kununoppin and we can see how we might fit you in if possible. ... Except. EXCEPT! If you have a fever, cough or other flu-like symptms, please first of all call us and we will arrange a teleconsult. Why? What is going on? Covid19 is not going away. It is here for the long term, and all we have done is flatten the curve so that our health service does not get overwhelmed. Think UK and USA. But look at Germany, where excellent results had been achieved, the reins were loosened, and immediately the cases spiked again. This means that we need continued vigilance. Social distancing will be with us for a while. Have you seen the research which showed how one person at a buffet can infect a large number of other vistors? Now just imagine sitting at the buffet table of a medical waiting room. And your neighbour coughs. Exactly. So what of the future? Well, we all expect a second wave to come through. And a third, and every year. We need to get used to the new normal. Here in the Wheatbelt we have had it very easy. That will change. Don't know when, but it will change. What we do now, the patterns we set, the practices we put into place - the new "norms" that we create - will largely determine how well we manage in a second and third wave. All of you have done so well, the BS meters remain on high alert, and a farming community will have a core of good old-fashioned common sense to draw on for future actions. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing you in the communities again.
