25.01.2022 Today I took some photos of the state of our bowling green. Top photo: From last years effort by many volunteers to repair the green and clean up for the season to take place (which has been done repeatedly for about 10 years now). Bottom photo: To today from many years of rain, heat, humidity and wind it is now beyond repair......hence why we are working hard to get funding, support & help to get it up and running again.

25.01.2022 Some positive news for today!! Helen the President & Yvonne the Treasurer were very fortunate to discuss the current position of our Lawn Bowls club and the desperate need for funding to become operational again, with Minister for Sports & Recreation Mick Murray and his team Alex Hamilton & Michael White, along with Labor Candidate Divina D'Anna and Maria Geier Department of Local Government, Sport & Culture Kununurra. It was a lengthy discussion about the current financial p...osition we are in and the amount of funding required for us to afford a new bowling green and the future development of the Kununurra Sporties Lawn Bowls Club. After our meeting, the Minister & his team had discussions with the local shire - SWEK. Here is hoping that the meeting went well and we may receive some positive news and outcomes in the very near future. A BIG thank you to Maria Geier for arranging the meeting with the Minister, it is so very much appreciated. Keep all of your fingers, toes, legs and arms crossed all of you dedicated Lawn Bowlers. We will keep you informed if we receive any further details.

25.01.2022 A lot has happened today and Jason Van Der Wees has been liaising with the trades to get the job done! The stone is all removed and the ground levelled out and the concrete guys have been in to do the boxing around the green. Progress photos of stone removed:

17.01.2022 Wow, this was a BIG surprise today in the post. If only Sporties Lawn Bowls could vote, I think we all know who would be getting our vote. Being completely selfish, I think KSLB knows who they want to get voted in. ... This is the most promising news for our club in 20 plus years!!

17.01.2022 It has been made official today!! Divina D'Anna MLA for Labor met with Helen (President) & Yvonne (Treasurer) to advise that KSLB will receive $120,000 by the end of this financial year (within 3 months) to get a new synthetic bowling green. A massive thank you to you and your team Divina. WHOOOP, WHOOP bring it on. KSLB will be back. ... 16.01.2022 Don't forget the busy bee this Saturday 26th October @ 7am. Please bring an outdoor broom, shovel and bucket as well as sun protective clothing, hat, sunscreen & water. If there is anyone that could assist with helping the committee clean the concrete surface of the green to remove any stones, dirt/sand & weeds that would be greatly appreciated. Please message if you can assist.

14.01.2022 Oh my goodness it is starting to look great. The drain has been cleaned out and the ground all levelled at the back gate. Now we have new concrete paths down the sides of the green. Next will be the new stones!! Exciting

13.01.2022 A HUGE thank you to the committee members and lawn bowls players that helped clean the bowling green area on Saturday, you all did a fantastic job removing the excess stones & sand. Now the rest of the clean up has begun!!

12.01.2022 The latest update: We have submitted a grant application to the Australian Government, Department of Health - Driving Social Inclusion through Sport & Physical Activity for the full amount of replacing the synthetic turf. We will keep you updated on the progress of that, however we are unsure on a date they will advise applicants if they are successful or not. ... In the meantime can every please keep their fingers crossed for us. A BIG thank you to Clare Cuppitt (secretary) for her writing skills in the grant, she did an amazing job.

11.01.2022 Now that our new drainage is done, the old synthetic grass has gone and the new gravel throughout the property is about to be done, we are going to have another busy bee. If there is anyone that could assist with helping the committee clean the concrete surface of the green to remove any stones, dirt/sand & weeds that would be greatly appreciated. The busy bee is planned for Saturday 26th October @ 7am. Please bring an outdoor broom, shovel and bucket as well as sun protectiv...e clothing, hat, sunscreen & water. Please message if you can assist.

09.01.2022 Most impressed with the job that Kimberley Excavation have done with the replacement stone throughout the Lawn Bowls property. A BIG thank you to Troy & Andy for the attention to detail and extra mile you have gone for us with the clean up at the front entrance and drainage area on the front verge as well as removing all of the remnants of the old green to the local dump. Also a BIG thank you to the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley for the funding for the stone replacement to take place.

09.01.2022 Day 2 of the drainage works by Ibac Plumbing!! New piping with a special sock to drain the water well with only stone over the top (no sand=no mess). Definitely a new pipe in need to get the water away......no wonder the green flooded all of these years with all of the sand in the drain and a drain pipe/s like this (check out the image)!!

08.01.2022 Kununurra Sporties Lawn Bowls is excited to announce that we were successful with an annual community grant through the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley to contribute towards the upgrade of our facility. This will not allow us to get a new green, but it is helping us get one step closer, so keep your eyes open for some ground works that will be done in the near future. A BIG thank you to the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley!!

07.01.2022 Another BIG thank you to everyone that came for our busy bee today. All of the sand is now removed from the concrete and ready to roll when we get enough funding together for our new synthetic green. Thank you to Clare, Helen, Jason, Yvonne, Rici, Mandy, Red, Julie & Shelley for your hard work once again. Awesome job everyone!!

07.01.2022 A big thank you to Ibac Plumbing who have completed our drainage and Seafarms for providing the funding. It is greatly appreciated! Now for a scheduled clean up day in the near future to remove the old turf, dirt, sand and stones.

04.01.2022 Well I guess given McGowan Labor got in, it looks like we should get a new bowling green. As a back-up, we have been working hard on a new grant application too.Well I guess given McGowan Labor got in, it looks like we should get a new bowling green. 03.01.2022 Our funding from the Wyndham East Kimberley Shire is now going to good use. Troy Potter from Kimberley Excavations is currently removing all of the rubbish, cracker dust, stones, weeds etc ready for all of the new stone to be laid throughout the whole Lawn Bowls area. Progress pictures of before:

01.01.2022 Day 1 of the drainage works by Ibac Plumbing!! How exciting to see some work being done. The concrete drain is in perfect condition so that is an absolute bonus!
