25.01.2022 We were blessed to hear an awesome message on gratitude (Colossians 13) from Nathan Moore this morning. How wonderful to be challenged by this young disciple to love God more and be thankful. Challenges from the message in a photo below. "Gratitude is a lifestyle, not a season"

25.01.2022 The book of Genesis opens as a grand epic. The first twelve chapters tell of the birth of the universe, the fall of humanity, a devastating flood, and the scattering of the nations. Then, as if all this were merely the prelude, the whole story shifts to focus on the life of a single, otherwise uninteresting figure by the name of Abram. And for the next twelve chapters we are invited to view the world and experience God through his eyesa man who responded to God’s call on his...Continue reading

24.01.2022 If you are struggling today, don't give up. We are never stronger than when we are dependent on God! "I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength. -Philippians 4:13

23.01.2022 YOU CAN’T OUTRUN GOD’S LOVE.

22.01.2022 Abundant life isn’t the default. We have to choose it and seek for it daily. Fortunately, we know the source of life! Here are some questions coming out of today's message about Matthew 7:13-14. 1. The following are some profound paradoxes found in Scripture: o Exaltation through humility (James 4:10) o Strength through weakness (2 Corinthians 12:10)...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Here are some discussion questions from this morning: 1. Jesus begins describing groups of people who are blessed, using a word that could also be translated happy or fortunate. How do you react to these different words: blessed, happy, fortunate? How are they alike, to you? How are they different? Would you rather be blessed, or happy, or fortunate? Why is that? 2. Would it make a difference to say Blessed are the pure in spirit, Happy are the pure in spirit, or L...ucky are the pure in spirit? And so on. What difference? Why, do you think? 3. Which of the groups that Jesus identifies as blessed do you feel closest to? Why is that? 4. Which of the groups do you feel least like? Why is that? 5. What do these groups seem to have in common? What does that tell us about how Jesus sees blessedness? How is that like, or unlike, the way you yourself see blessedness? 6. Do you want to be blessed, according to Jesus? Why, or why not? What would change in your life? https://youtu.be/uMnPXlnFtqk

17.01.2022 As we wrap up our sermon series on the Sermon on the Mount, here are some questions to continue to think through Matthew 7:24-29.... 1. Has anyone ever sat down with you and helped you think through the consequences of your decisions about how you live your life? Have you considered if your worldview works for both now and eternity? 2. The ‘words’ Jesus is referring to are all the things He has taught in Matthew 5-7. This is a kingdom-minded lifestyle filled with choices, com...mitments, and blessings for those who surrender to it. Choosing to let Jesus live in you makes you ‘salt’ and ‘light’, gives you amazing relationships with others, and leads you into Heaven. Go back over these chapters and share with us which parts of Jesus’ teaching were most impactful to you. 3. Have you ever built a new house? If so, what was your favorite part? If not, would you want to? Why or why not? 4. Nobody sets out to build their life on sand, but so many still do. How do so many well-intentioned people end up in a place where their lives collapse in the storm? 5. The word gospel means good news. Though we don’t see a typical short-hand gospel in the Sermon on the Mount (I came to die for your sins, etc), how do we see the gospel in this message of Jesus? 6. As you look back through the Sermon on the Mount, what areas you especially feeling a conviction to obey and grow in? The Teaching of the Sermon on the Mount is not meant to be admired but to be obeyed. - R.T. France To think through this passage more deeply, we encourage you to listen to Tim Keller's sermon, "Authentic Christianity" (https://youtu.be/--mRYu2B4jU). God bless you as you walk with him this week!

12.01.2022 John Hickey, CEO of Baptist World Aid, has this message for you in the wake of the devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.

11.01.2022 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22 Some questions from today's message: 1. Jesus says that Christians are supposed to have a similar effect in our culture that salt has in meat, and light has with darkness. The key to this is that we are supposed to have this effect, but He also warns that may not be the case (salt that is not salty, and a light that is under a basket). In your life, what are some of the things that keep... you from having the effect in your culture that you know God wants you to have? Specifically: What are some things that might dilute your saltiness. 2. The metaphor of salt implies a connectedness or engagement in culture. In what ways do you see God already working through Christians to be Salt and Light in our culture? Can you identify an area of your life where God is pressing you to be more salty? 3. Organizations tend to shift from their original mission, and often get off course. If you look at your life, and your overall mission, is it in line with the mission that Jesus has given his followers? What are some things that have a tendency to pull us off course? 4. Can you identify ways in which our culture is crying out, for help? Think of as many examples as you can of our culture crying out for help, then spend time in prayer asking God to show you, our church, and the global church to enter into the lives of people who may look ok, but who are deeply broken, and hurting on the inside.

10.01.2022 Questions to ponder: 1. A translations of Matthew 6:19-21 could read: "Do not treasure for yourself treasures". What does Jesus mean? Should we not bother with a savings account? Should we not invest in stocks? 2. What is a difference between what we store up on earth and what we store up in heaven? 3. Why do we seek to accumulate treasure on earth? Can you think of at least four reasons? 4. Matthew 6:20 is one of the clearest verses in the Bible supporting eternal rewards.... What does Jesus mean by eternal treasures? 5.What is it you know you cannot be happy without? 6. Our scripture indicates our responsibility to be generous. When Jesus refers to someone having a single eye, he means that person is someone who gives to others with open-hearted generosity. What is the difference in giving with expectations versus giving with no expectations? 7.What does it mean to give sacrificially? See more

10.01.2022 There’s nothing we could ever do to earn God’s love. Still he gives it freely. Here are some questions to.help you think through today's message... Anger (Matt 5:21-26) Which of the Beatitudes (Mat 5:1-12) express the values Jesus wants us to take regarding murder? What is the benefit to us if we do as Jesus wants?...Continue reading

10.01.2022 Below are some suggestions how you can worship with us this week! 1. Sing along with this playlist curated by the awesome Nathan Moore this week: https://www.youtube.com/playlist "Trust and Obey" - https://youtu.be/KB4KcleYiWM ...Continue reading

09.01.2022 Lord, please teach me to hear and know Your voice. Please help me to listen to what You say and to what You are asking me to do. And please give me the courage to respond with, "yes Lord." Amen.

09.01.2022 I don’t know what you are walking through today, but God sees your pain. He notices. And He cares. Cast your cares on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

09.01.2022 Here are some discussion questions from today's passage (Genesis 1:26-31) for you to ponder.... 1. In v26, God proposes making humankind in our image and according to our likeness. What do you understand the image of God to mean? How has your understanding of the image of God been formed, and how has it changed over time? Who has helped you understand what that means? What features of humankind seem to be included in the image of God, based on how you think of that? W...hat difference does it make how we answer this question? Why? 2. A purpose stated for the creation of humankind is to let them have dominion over the other animal creatures. What do you understand dominion to entail? (For instance, we might think of sovereign authority, power, control, etc.) What actions vis-à-vis other creatures are appropriate, given the way we understand dominion? Why? What actions are inappropriate to the way we understand dominion? Why? How does human dominion over other living creatures relate to God’s dominion over creation? (That is, what features do they share, what features do they not share, do you think?) Why do you think this? 3. In v28, God blesses and speaks to the newly-created humankind. How do you hear God’s words to humanity here (for instance, as a command, as a blessing, as an opportunity, )? Why do you hear God’s words this way, do you think? Could you hear them any other way? Why or why not? Does it make a difference how we hear these words? What difference does it make? 4. How do you understand the relationship of Genesis 2:7 to Genesis 1:26? Why? (That is, from what do you get that impression? From something in the text, from teaching you have had or read, from sermons you have heard, ?) What are the possibilities for how these two texts are related? What difference will it make how we answer this question? Why? 5. Nowhere in Genesis does it explicitly state that God walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden before the fall (although it could be inferred). Do you believe God physically walked with Adam and Eve? What difference will it make how we answer this question? Why? 6. How has studying this passage helped you in your walk with God? Have a blessed week!

08.01.2022 Discussion questions about Matthew 7:15-23 1. In v15, Jesus says to beware of false prophets why, do we think? What do we think prophet means, usually? What gives us that idea? Can we think of an example of a false prophet in the ancient world? (see e.g., 1 Kings 22; Jeremiah 29) In these days? 2. Jesus compares these actors to wolves how do we understand that image? How do we understand the metaphor of devouring people?... 3. [More personal] We don’t do that, do we? 4. Let’s take a look at the kinds of false prophets or false teachers we find in the New Testament by looking at the following passages: Matthew 24:24; 2 Corinthians 11:4-15; 2 Peter 1:1-2; 1 John 2:22. Write down what you observe. What kinds of false messages have these false teachers and prophets proclaimed? 5. Read Matthew 12:33-37 where Jesus speaks directly to some false teachers. What is the good and bad fruit that Jesus is concerned about with them? Now return to Matthew 7 and look at verses 21-23. What is the good fruit and bad fruit here that we can observe? 6. In verse 21-23, how is it possible to prophesy, cast out demons and perform miracles in Jesus’ name and yet not enter the Kingdom of Heaven? See also 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12. In light of this, what should we pay attention to when we are examining prophets and teachers? 7. Have you run into any false teachers lately? What was that like? How might you handle the situation more effectively next time because of what Jesus has taught you here in chapter 7? 8. Why do we continue to sin if we have Christ in our heart and the Holy Spirit in our lives? 9. What does this passage tell us about the importance of doing good works? How do good works and salvation fit together? 10. What kind of good works have you been producing lately? What evidence in your life points to your relationship with Jesus? 11. What spiritual disciplines can you use to cultivate your soul this week? 12. In what area of your life can you place more emphasis on doing good works each day this week?

05.01.2022 Some questions to ponder about Matthew 7:7-12... 1. What have you learned about the Father in the Sermon on the Mount? Why is the Father’s place in the sermon so important? 2. How does our view of God motivate (or demotivate) prayer? What truths about God the Father have been most encouraging to you? What questions about God’s fatherhood remain?... 3. How does seeing yourself as a needy child encourage you to pray? Why is it difficult to confess such need? 4. In the context of Jesus’s Sermon, how should we understand Jesus words to Ask, Seek, and Knock. For ask see Matthew 5:42 (beg = ask) and Matthew 6:8; for seek see Matthew 6:33; for knock look Matthew 7:1314; Luke 13:2230; Acts 12:13. 5. When Jesus commands, Ask . . . Seek . . . Knock! he is really saying, Keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. (These commands are present tense imperatives, meaning they are commands to keep praying). How do you do that? How would you encourage young believer to pray without ceasing? 6. How does Jesus words in Matthew 7:711 relate to Matthew 7:16? In what ways do we need wisdom in making judgments (cf. Matthew 18:1520; 1 Corinthians 5). 7. Read 3 John 2. How should we pray for our physical needs? How does the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:914) help us balance our prayers? 8. What else do we learn about prayer in these verses?
