25.01.2022 As a Not-4-profit organization, we are excited when someone supports us in our ventures within the Chinchilla Community. A the beginning of this year, Stayover by Ausco on Zeller Street offered to help us, which was by no means a small deal. However, it wasn't until COVID touched our town that their offer of help became such a massive deal to our organization. Due to the size of our little shop, we have always required an extra storage area. The storage area we had was not wo...rkplace compliant. We were generously offered some off-site storage by Stayover by Ausco. This seems small, but during the COVID crisis, we needed to store all donated goods for a period of time. We determined that that was until the crisis no longer affected our area - a period of about 3 months. It was at this time, that the help from Stayover became more than just support. Without their help became we would not have been able to accept donations. The storage areas supplied by Stayover were perfect, and we are so very grateful for their support and help. Not only this, it provided a safe area for our volunteers to work. We want to take this time to welcome Stayover by Ausco on Zeller Street as a major supporter of Kup of Kindness Incorporated, and thank them for their help.

18.01.2022 Our Christmas Eve meal was amazing. I think that the total count was 40 people fed. But we sent home meals with two young blokes, one elderly gentleman, and a young woman who had just lost her job. A few people contacted me the next day and picked up food because they needed it. Nothing went to waste. A huge thank you to our fabulous chef Jason and his mum Debbie, who volunteered their time for the evening and cooked a mouthwatering feed. Thank you. We had some wonderful volu...nteers who seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. I cannot thank you all enough. I won't mention all of you, but you know who you are. Thank you for the young couple who decorated the tables. The two couples who both brought their sons to help. Two other ladies who came at the start and worked thru the evening until the end. An elderly couple who came and helped, fetching ice when I realised I had forgotten. Finally, the only photo we have of the evening was taken by Frances Prentice who oversaw the music for the evening. Thank you to Libby and Bethany Prentice for the passion you put into playing and for the joy you brought to us all.

18.01.2022 As a concerned community organisation, Kup of Kindness Inc. is deeply concerned of the far-reaching implications of the COVID-19 virus. More importantly, we are fully aware that some of the people we reach with our Soup Kitchen already have compromised immunity, due to poor health and lack of nutrition. We do not wish to cause further suffering in our desire to do good. We place our staff under strict guidelines for health and food safety. It is a request of our staff that th...ey are not to volunteer if their health is such that it can cause another person to be infected. Furthermore, our volunteer staff must disclose immediately if they have come in contact with the COVID-19 Virus and must cease volunteering immediately. This means that all staff might soon be in need of self-isolation. Our kitchen is cleaned and sanitized after every meal cooked in our kitchen. All utensils are washed thoroughly and all bins and floors are washed and sanitised. I personally see to this process. All food purchased, is used immediately and kept within correct temperature control. All our food is given to people in Bio-pak (cane mulch) takeaway containers. This means that we are covered under new restrictions put in place by the government last night. Our former seating arrangement for eating will be changed to guarantee that the restrictions are followed. Despite this we are fully aware that the virus outbreak may cause us to suspend our service, and this is something that saddens us greatly. The very people who will need us the most will be left without. It this time our Monday night meals will continue but will be assessed on a weekly basis. Added to this we have now found that the food we need to purchase for the School Breakfast programme is becoming impossible to purchase within our town or any town. The ingredients we need for homemade muffins (flour, sugar, eggs and milk) are now no longer available to us in the quantities we need. We have purchased, at considerable expense, approx. 2 weeks worth of bulk Muffin Mix and Pre-packaged cereal. At this time, we will continue our free breakfast until the close of this school term and will reassess our situation over the school holidays. Thank you to the Chinchilla and surrounding communities for your support to us, as we all face this crisis together. Ruth Lindsay Food Safety Supervisor President - Kup of Kindness Inc

17.01.2022 During the major overhaul of Kogan Creek Power Station last year, CS Energy and its contractors Downer, Siemens and Intertek encouraged their staff to collect recyclable aluminum cans, glass and plastic bottles to help donate money to Kup of Kindness Inc. They also placed a donation box for anyone who would like to donate money. The outcome of this venture included 12 large bags of collected material, which was brought to our shed and sorted. The can tops were removed to give... to the Chinchilla Lion's Club to go to the Australian Lion's Spinal Cord Foundation. The plastic tops have been put aside to give to Lids4Kids. The final count was 3,522 cans, 39 bottles, and 246 plastic bottles, giving us a grand total of $380.70 from the collection. On top of this, the generous workers donated a further $237.90 to our organization. A huge thank you to CS Energy, Downer, Siemens and Intertek for enabling this to happen. Thanks also to Kim Lindsay, who was our CS Energy onsite organiser and bottle collector extraordinaire and to the ever-helpful Don Wardle who assisted me in sorting and transporting all of this to Containers for Change.

07.01.2022 Kup of Kindness Breakfast programme: This year has been a huge year for our volunteers, despite not being able to continue our breakfast programme during the second term of school. Our programme to supply breakfast to as many children as we could, took us to Miles High School on a Tuesday, Chinchilla High School on a Wednesday and Chinchilla State School on a Thursday.... At one of the schools alone, we supply 400 muffins, 30 pkts cereal, 4 pkts raisin bread, 15 litres of fruit juice, 4kg fruit, 20 litres hot chocolate milk every week. We have 5 volunteers, 2 school chaplains and various teachers who, along with our Food Safety Supervisor, Ruth Lindsay, run this programme. A huge thank you to Keith, Rhonda and Margaret who helped Ruth at Miles. Maria Keating, and Chaplain Mark who helped Ruth at CSHS, and Chaplain Leanne and Jenny who helped Ruth at CSS. You guys are awesome. The dedication to helping every week, the laughter and comradery you all brought to the team has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you for not complaining at the 6am starts. Finally to the staff of these schools, for your support. A special mention to all the school staff, including Mr McCloud and Mrs Manandhar of CSHS, who decided to help us out either every week or at different times of the year. You guys ROCK!!

06.01.2022 My awesome volunteers staff and Chappy Mark making breakfast at the Chinchilla High School. What a great way to start the day!

06.01.2022 What a privilege to be part of a free breakfast programme at Chinchilla State High School. This week, we had photo time with the Principal Mr Insley, and the Deputy Principals Mr Bowman and Mrs Dorries. Thank you also to the school leaders Alisha, Joh, Lachlan, and Jamie for dropping by. At the moment we are cooking about 140 muffins, and supplying fruit, juice and cereal. We have also, this week, added hot chocolate...ready for our winter months. I have three volunteers to... help me, including Danica, a student from Chinchilla Christian College. Chappy Mark is a great help as well, roping him into making muffins occasionally too. Towards the end of our breakfast, we are joined by Kiara, who helps me by washing up. A great team, and a fabulous breakfast.

01.01.2022 Our breakfast program is now spreading to include Miles. Miles State High Principal and their Wellbeing Team approached us with a novel and exciting idea of a Café Breakfast for staff and students. This exciting idea provides an opportunity for their students and staff to spread a bit of kindness by chatting and listening to each other over a yummy breakfast with a café atmosphere full of music, laughter and satisfied tummies. Well done to the amazing staff who welcomed our ...team of volunteers and worked with us to achieve this. Kup of Kindness would like to thank Camby Downs Mine for coming alongside us in providing financial support for this Cafe Breakfast. Their ability to see a need in the community, and step forward to help, is appreciated.
