23.01.2022 Love your walking trails? Well Kuranda has plenty of trails to choose from for all levels. The trails around Kuranda Village are suitable for all, but if you like more of a challenge there are other rainforest walks for the more adventurouslike the Smiths Track. The Smiths Track can be accessed via the picturesque Speewah Camping Grounds at the Speewah Conservation Park. It's a great rainforest walk with lots to offer including a view of the Kuranda railway line from above,... coastal views at Toby's Lookout, Stoney Creek crossings, and some incredible massive Kauri pines. Don't forget to be prepared for your walk. Take plenty of water, good walking shoes, take a friend and allow enough time to explore. It's a special walk that you won't forget. 1) Stoney Creek 2) Kauri Pine @stevennowakowskipanoscapes #kurandavillage #kurandawalks #smithstrack #stoneycreek #kauripines #explorekuranda #exploreathertontablelands #explorefnq

20.01.2022 Repost @skyrailcairns - Here in the ancient rainforest, there is beauty hiding around every corner One of our rangers here at Skyrail captured this stunning photo of this plant, also known as the Hoya macgillivrayi, which is considered to be one of the most spectacular species in Australian flora. It thrives in the strong light of the tree tops or along open creeks. We are so lucky here in @tropicalnorthqueensland, don't you think? : @timhackwood #TheAncientRainforest
20.01.2022 Did you know you can drive to Kuranda. It takes about 35 minutes from Cairns or Palm Cove. There is a magical lookout on the way up the Kuranda range that takes in the views across the Greater Cairns Region. Kuranda is a sleepy village away from the hustle and bustle, some of our gorgeous cafes open from 7am to serve breakfast to the early birds. The rest open around 10am and close between 2-3pm. If you come to Kuranda from Monday to Wednesday this week, expect to find the ...parts of the markets closed. There is a few places open at Original markets on Monday ! There is a number of lovely boutiques and outlets of all descriptions open throughout the rest of the town . Birdworld and Koala Gardens are open every day in the Heritage markets. Butterfly Sanctuary is open 7 days. On the outskirts of Kuranda (around 8 minute drive ) you can find Rainforestation, they are open Mon and Tuesday but not Wednesday! Other fun things to do could include a ride on the Kuranda Riverboat, Kuranda ATV Rainforest Journey tours, walk some of our lovely walking tracks, sit at Wrights lookout and breath in the fresh air and views. So much to do in Kuranda #cairns #tropicalnorthqueensland #ExploreTTNQ #TTNQ See more

09.01.2022 DOONGAL ABORIGINAL ART & ARTEFACTS Doongal Aboriginal Art hosts a stunning collection of local Aboriginal Rainforest Art as well as artwork from Central Australian Aboriginal artists. Enjoy viewing one of the largest collections of Aboriginal art in Australia in a beautiful, relaxing environment at our Galleries right in the heart of Kuranda. Aboriginal culture did not have a written language, instead their laws, stories and social behaviour was passed on in the form of song,... dance and paintings. Many well-known artists began their life traditionally and only as young adults had their first contact with Europeans. It is for this reason that the significance and value of their artwork is priceless. They represent the last generation to have lived the semi nomadic traditional lifestyle and Central Australian Artists are represented in the Doongal Art Galleries today. The Doongal Galleries also have a huge collection of locally made Didgeridoos and Boomerangs as well as a large range of other traditional artefacts to suit all budgets. Currently Providing FREE Shipping Worldwide on website paintings.
