13.01.2022 Can Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine Help Stress? At Kurrajong Natural Medicine Centre, we talk about stress in a particular way. Typically when we hear the word stress, we associate it with ideas of being overwhelmed or burnt out, but this extreme doesn’t cover the full spectrum of stress that we encounter on a daily basis. Originally the term stress was defined as the non-specific response of the body to any demand for change. Another way to think about it is as a ...load that forces your body to step up and adapt. For example: waking up early for work before you’ve had enough sleep is a stress on the system; traveling in peak hour traffic is a stress on the system; running after the kids is a stress on the system; eating lunch on the go is a stress on the system; etc, etc. It’s important to remember stress isn’t always bad, however, for example exercise is a great example of a good stress that causes healthy adaptations (when done right with the right amount of recovery). It’s only when the stressors, or amount of load builds up and continues for an extended period, without the necessary de-load or de-stress time. This is the kind of definition we use when talking about stress. There’s nothing wrong with being busy, but we do want to make sure we’re helping you offset the amount of load or stress coming in from life, to help keep you feeling strong, happy and healthy. At Kurrajong Natural Medicine Centre, we use traditional acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to help offset stress and relieve stress related symptoms. To find out if we can help you with your stress, please contact our Clinic on: (02) 4573 0784

07.01.2022 Self-Reliance Herbal Medicine Course Get all the details here: https://theherbalhealthcoach.com/herbal-medicine-course-ou/ My conceptualisation of what I think is an almost ‘perfect’ Herbal Medicine course is one that incorporates a strong sense of the human connection to all the aspects of the natural environment.... Traditional Herbalists through the ages have always been custodians of the natural environment, with deep connection and knowledge of the inter-relationships that exist between humans, plants, animals and the natural world. Maintenance of these inter-relationships through correct use of resources and correct action was part of the training of the herbalist (medicine man/woman) since time immemorial. Today, training is focused more on an evidence-based scientific approach that emphasizes plant chemistry and standardization of herbal medicines. This view is a ‘one-size-fits-all’ with little to no recognition of the existence of chi/prana/spirit/soul or consciousness as important components of essential healing mechanisms within plants and humans. In my opinion, this is an unbalanced view that results in unbalanced outcomes. In addition to using a holistic framework on which to base this herbal medicine course, I am also interested to know what you would like to learn; what you feel will be of benefit to you in your journey of healing with plants, and adding this to the course curriculum. I look forward to connecting with you and working with you in the Herbal Medicine Course. Warmest regards Susan
