25.01.2022 We have been a little quiet here on Facebook but we have certainly been busy on the farm! We have been hatching the most gorgeous little Pekin ducklings , the turkeys from our January hatch are growing up very quickly , we have introduced some different coloured guinea fowl to our flock and most of our hens are coming out of moult so we are seeing an increased supply in eggs! Moulting is the natural process that chickens go through where they stop laying eggs to give their... little bodies a well deserved rest. If you would like some farm fresh eggs this weekend please PM your order through for Saturday morning delivery to selected areas, or pick up from our farm, just off Hermitage Road **Contactless pick up/drop off available- just ask** #farmfresheggs #kurrajonghills #kurrajong #shopsmall #guineafowl

22.01.2022 Great news! We managed to pick up some more beautiful girls to add to our flock this week. They are busy settling in to their new environment and are now loving the wide open spaces. It took them a day or two to realise they had so much space! They kept on huddling together at first. A few of them have started to lay the cutest little eggs, so in around a few weeks time, with the good quality feed we give them, and lots of space to forage around on, we should see the qualit...y eggs we aim for. Don’t forget we are offering contactless pick up and delivery, so while our supplies may be somewhat limited at times, please get in touch if you are after some eggs and I will do my best to get some to you. 22.01.2022 Our first duckling for 2021 Here is a short time-lapse video of this gorgeous little duckling making its way into the world. It might look easy, but this hatching process can take around 24-48 hours from the first little crack in the egg to being fully hatched. It’s tiresome work and they spend lots of time sleeping afterwards!

08.01.2022 S O R R Y!! We feel the need to apologise that we are currently unable to meet demand for our delicious eggs at the moment. Since the recent COVID-19 crisis we have had a huge influx in orders and we simply can’t meet that demand. While we have loads of space for more hens, our supplier, as well every other supplier that we know of, have sold out of hens In order to keep track, I have a list of people who are after eggs I’m contacting those as the eggs are available, while... still servicing my customers who have regular weekly orders as best I can. We hope that over time we can increase our stock and continue to provide you all with a regular supply of eggs once we see the back of this virus. On that note, we are able to offer contactless pick up if you prefer, just let me know before you arrive. Thank you for your patience! Mel See more

06.01.2022 D U C K E G G S We are excited to announce that after being asked often if we sell duck eggs, we finally do! We have raised most of our own ducks from ducklings and we are now seeing a supply big enough to offer them to other customers as well. If you haven’t tried a duck egg yet, we have an offer for you! Buy a carton of chicken eggs and we will gladly swap out up to four chicken eggs for duck eggs for you to try out- Just let us know when you order (this is for a li...mited time only). Duck eggs are larger than chicken eggs, and when cooked, are a lot fluffier which makes them perfect for cakes and baking, and they also make a nice fluffy omelette. Like fluffy homemade pancakes? Then you’ll love duck eggs! These eggs are $10 a dozen. We also have deliveries going out to the village tomorrow morning so feel free to let us know if you’d like some chicken or duck eggs delivered, or pick up from the farm over the weekend. #duckeggs #hawkesburyduckeggs #farmfresh #fresheggs See more

01.01.2022 This week our favourite mumma hen hatched six beautiful little Guinea Fowl- three Pearl and three Lavender. Our incubator has also hatched five with more on the way. Just as we thought the season was over, our Guinea Fowl are still laying! If you’re not familiar with Guinea Fowl, read on.. Baby Guinea Fowl are known as ‘Keets’. These quirky birds who originate from Africa, are very interesting and are a must-have for those on acreage, who are not fond of snakes, spiders, or ...tics and who grow their own veggies and like to kill pests without chemicals. How do Guinea Fowl help, you may ask! There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there on Guinea Fowl, so I’m going to tell you how we raised them, and how they help us on our farm. I am referring to our experiences only. Firstly, Guinea Fowl start calling if they see something unusual. This could be a snake, a car in your driveway or something new that you’ve put outside that they’ve seen for the first time. They are great at alerting us to something out of the ordinary. Our Guineas (pictured) are free ranging and roost in a tree at night. Many people advise against this due to predators, but we have never had an issue with this. We kept them in a cage for about 4 weeks to ‘home’ them. Once they know where home is, they will always come back. Guinea fowl love eating spiders, ticks and bugs. They also love eating pests that are attracted to your veggie garden. They go into my veggie patch and eat all the bugs, but they do not touch the veggies! Incredible Because they are free ranging, they get most of their food from the foraging around the farm. We do offer them feed in the afternoon. Sometimes they eat it, sometimes they only have a nibble, depending on how much they’ve eaten during the day. We noticed when it was dry they ate a lot of it but not as much now that there is so much life around with the recent rain. I always get asked if they are ok with chickens- yes! Our Guinea Fowl live in harmony with our chickens, ducks and turkeys. Any questions? Please ask If you have bought some Guinea Fowls from us, we’d love to see some pictures! #guineafowl #guineafowlaustralia #kurrajonghills
