25.01.2022 Just born! Its a lovely Brahkle heifer calf!

23.01.2022 Today we have another of the famous Shane videos! At least its the grass hay. Something I have noticed from the video is the 2 red calves are hanging around together. Neenah and friend only went in the same paddock a few days ago. She was with Fifi before. She doesnt want to know Fifi now. Also Ive seen Fifi hanging around with the only white Speckle Park heifer in the paddock. Coincidence? We will see!

23.01.2022 As you can see,Shane done the top paddock check this morning.

23.01.2022 The easy way to yard cattle! They all come running to the gate.

22.01.2022 Looks like Shane has finally figured out that they are not hungry!

22.01.2022 A Shane photo he just emailed me. I guess a little grass hay wont hurt.

21.01.2022 One from last week! Kiona and her new born heifer calf!

20.01.2022 Shane feeding some of the young heifers this morning! Yes hes meant to be feeding them. They are in a small holding paddock until the bull thats visiting the neighbours goes home. Just in case he has ideas of visiting them.

20.01.2022 The little run away calf is still very adventurous. She has to be in everything. So very curious. Thats her mum Kaya on the left keeping a close eye on her.

20.01.2022 Some of the young heifers waiting to go in the next paddock!

19.01.2022 Yesterdays new heifer calf napping in the sun this morning. Kiona is keeping a close eye on her.

19.01.2022 Feeding off some Kikuyu before the frosts next week. Amazing that its still green when its almost the end of Winter!

19.01.2022 Lakota and Makaya two of our beautiful Brahkle heifers. Photo credit goes to my neighbour!

17.01.2022 There always has to be one!! Tancy the only heifer in the group has a mind of her own. She is not doing the right thing in any of the photos. When I finally convinced her to stop chewing her friends ear, she stuck her tongue up her nose.

17.01.2022 Tarsha is getting a lovely udder! Shouldnt be too much longer!

16.01.2022 Kiona the overdue Brahkle and her friend Kaya who is also expecting. Its going to be cold checking her tonight!

14.01.2022 Shane corrupting the latest calf!

11.01.2022 No cows today, due to the rain! Instead we have yesterdays Sunset. I hope youre not too disappointed.

11.01.2022 Neenah and Fifi relaxing up on the mountain top! The wind is just about blowing me away!

10.01.2022 A couple of lovely Brahkle heifers! Only about 6 weeks to wait on Imala! She is springing already!

09.01.2022 Apparently Rocky wasnt impressed with no breakfast this morning. Shane was going though to fix a fence but Rocky was trying to stop the Can Am to get breakfast.

09.01.2022 This is Basil! Hes an F1 4 year old steer. Hes around 6 feet tall. Hes out of a small Murray Grey cross cow by a Speckle bull. If you want to breed fast growing steers. Then Speckles are an ideal breed to cross with. Hes trying to convince Shane to open the gate!

08.01.2022 Good morning Kaya! I see you bought your baby back to the yard to sleep last night. They are both up on the mountain tonight though.

08.01.2022 Seems Tess isnt impressed with her grass hay breakfast.

07.01.2022 Heading back to the Top Paddock after Vaccinations this afternoon.

05.01.2022 WHAT CAMERAS ARE EVERYONE USING TO OBSERVE THEIR CATTLE? Thanks!WHAT CAMERAS ARE EVERYONE USING TO OBSERVE THEIR CATTLE? Thanks!

05.01.2022 J.M Ellis & Co sold a pen of 12 Speckle Park X Milk Calves on behalf of JH & JL Wardlaw. The Hiefers weighed in just shy of 150kg and returned a massive $1000 per head or 675c/kg. Congratulations!

04.01.2022 The latest arrival. She is very lucky to be here this morning to get her photo taken. Last night she decided it would be a good idea to go through 3 fences and run down the road for 300 or more metres as soon as she was born. I checked her mother a first calf heifer at 10pm. No activity and sound asleep. She was showing no signs of calving. I went back over to do another quick job at 11.35pm. Her mother Kaya was still sleeping where she was at 10pm. I almost didnt walk down ...to her because she hadnt moved. I thought Im not that far away another look wont hurt. When I walked down and woke her up I thought she was calving as I could see what I thought was the broken water bag. She didnt seem in labor and there was no sign of any calf. I got her up and moved her around to have a good look. There seemed to be too much empty bad hanging but with no sign of any calf I didnt know what to think. She wasnt at all worried. So I decided to leave her a while. As I was walking back to the house I thought I heard a calf. I went back over and looked around again and listened but nothing. I thought it was my imagination. Then I heard a faint sound again. It was coming from down the main road. So I opened the gate and began to walk down the road. In the distance I could see a white calf wandering down the road about 300 metres ahead. She was almost to a an old well that was just through the fence in the neighbours. Lucky I got to her before she could fall in. She wasnt keen to go back up the road and of course I didnt have a phone. So after a lot of effort I returned her to her mum. Once Kaya smelt her she knew she was hers. Only problem this little darling didnt want to know her. She ran away 3 more times before Shane got home from work. She was as fast as a week old calf. It was 9 degrees and she was still wet but it wasnt bothering her. Her mother was trying to clean her but she didnt want to know. As soon as he got home we put them both in a secure yard. I wasnt game to leave her to open the gates in case she ran off again. The yard was one that she couldnt escape from. After a few minutes she was on sucking and had decided her mother wasnt that bad after all. Kata was doing a good job of cleaning her so I decided at 1am it was OK to leave them. She looks so sweet and innocent now. She is definitely one very lucky calf. She could have easily been ran over or taken or drowned in the well. Edited: the only thing that I can think of to make her run away. There are 2 big double sensor lights. They shine right where her mother was sleeping. Maybe they were shining in her eyes as soon as she was born. So she ran the opposite way. See more

04.01.2022 Makaya the Chocolate Brahkle! Hopefully she will have a calf around October. It will be interesting what colour she will throw! Stay turned!

04.01.2022 Imala has a lovely bag of milk! Only problem she is either early or there has been a bull visiting. We will soon know! Stay turned!

04.01.2022 I think Tilly wants to help in the vegetable garden!

03.01.2022 Trying to get reflections. All I got was waves from the gale force Winds. Still the cattle dont look too bad for the end of a Winter.

02.01.2022 A couple of the latest Brahkle calves. More Speckles and Brahkles due next month.

01.01.2022 First Selfie for Neenah the Brahkle heifer calf! Not easy because she was trying to eat my phone and clothes. She is an unusual colour now. She has black spots now too. Very unique indeed.

01.01.2022 The new kid on the block. Hes a lovely pure bull.

01.01.2022 The youngest Brahkle heifer calf is growing well. She will soon have some younger brothers or sisters. Another 4 Speckles and Brahkles due before the end of the year. I’m on calving watch again.

01.01.2022 The Rural Crime Prevention Team - NSW Police Force are embarking on a major operation across NSW to address the ongoing issue of stock theft. In the past 4 y...ears NSW stock owners have had over 88,000 sheep and 9,000 cattle stolen - and this is just whats been reported. The actual numbers could be higher! Remember that moving stock requires you to have a correctly completed Transported Stock Statement (TSS) or Waybill, which is generally a correctly completed copy of the current NVD. Keep an eye on your stock and report anything suspicious to the Rural Crime Prevention Team - NSW Police Force. Information can often help piece a picture together!
