21.01.2022 WHO DOESN'T LOVE A SWEET TREAT?! When it comes to classic Christmas recipes, it doesn’t get much more old-fashioned than a sweet White Christmas slice made with creamy white chocolate, dried fruit and nuts! It is always a crowd favourite, makes the perfect addition to a hamper or just enjoy it all to yourself! If you are going to make a Christmas treatyyy.. whip up this bad boy! It is a no-bake, gluten free, easy and quick recipe you will have finished in just a few minut...es! Ingredients: 75g white chocolate 1-2 tbs coconut oil 15g desiccated coconut 1 tsp vanilla extract cup rice puffs cup mix ins (roast almonds, pistachios, macadamias, goji berries, cranberries, sultanas, dried apricots, glazed cherries) 30g vanilla protein powder (optional but adds a delicious flavour!) Method: 1. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil together in a bowl until smooth 2. Stir through the protein powder. Then fold in the rice puffs and your mix ins until evenly coated. 3. Pour mixture into a lined baking tin and place in the freezer for 20-30 minutes until set. 4. Cut into 8-10 pieces ENJOY!

Here are some TIPS to make sure you nail your first KX experiences Book your classes in advance so you don’t miss out on the class that suits your schedule... AND you are committed for the upcoming classes! ... Arrive 5-10 minutes early to your classes! Our instructors and clients are friendly and would love to have a chat to get to know you. Let your trainer know of any new niggles or injuries prior to class (IMPORTANT!) Bring a water bottle and sweat towel Stretch, refuel and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Remember: KX Pilates is not like any other workout you’ve done before. It will feel different and you will probably be sore after your first class but that is totally normal! 12.01.2022 TIPS TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR KX WORKOUT! If you are a KXer you would know that we all love a good workout nothing beats getting sweaty, sparking the endorphins and moving your body. To get the most out of each KX workout follow these tips and you will see the difference they make! 1. WARM UP! At KX, the instructor will always lead you through an 8-10 minute warmup to prepare your body for class. A thorough warmup is essential so you can activate the key muscles you wil...l be using, elevate your heart rate, notice any tension you have in your body and increase your proprioception. This prevents injury and actually allows you to use your muscles properly, performing movements correctly so you get more out of them. 2. FOOD IS FUEL! If you’re working out regularly at KX, your body is going to need more food to fuel the energy it’s using in each session. Make sure you are eating enough protein and carbohydrates each day; to replenish your body and your energy stores. Having a post-workout meal which includes a quality source of complex carbohydrates and a source of protein, can really help synthesise your muscles after a workout. This will ensure you get more out of the session, see better results, as well as bring your energy levels back up so you don’t feel drained for the rest of the day. 3. STRETCH Never underestimate the importance of stretching! They say consistency is key in working out, but you cannot be consistent if you have; sore, tight, tired, aching muscles! Taking just 5-10 minutes after each workout will help your recovery so much! Try and hold each stretch for around 30 seconds, target the muscles you used and focus on deep breaths. 4. TAKE REST DAYS! Rest is another key factor in getting the most out of your workouts! It might seem strange but without rest days, you will never see the results you’re striving for! Your body needs downtime to rest, recover and repair. Ironically, it is these rest days that actually allow your muscles to strengthen and rebuild. Have at least 1-2 rest days per week, even if that means sticking to a light walk or yoga flow on that day.

Classes have been filling up quickly so dont forget to book in advance. ... You will notice that we have implemented some new practices within the studio to keep our community safe. Please read the below, share this information with your KX friends, stay safe and have fun ! Take note of amended start times. We have allocated an extra 5 minutes between each class to allow for additional cleaning of equipment and to avoid mass movement during class transition Sanitise your hands as you enter the studio Do not attend class if you are unwell Ensure your trainer registers your attendance before each class Maintain a 1.5m distance from all clients and trainers at all times Bring your own pre-filled water bottle. 06.01.2022 While our studios are reopening our booking schedules will look a little different. You will notice that class start times have changed and you will only be able to book your classes 10 days in advance. This allows us to keep on top of our schedules while we ease back into post-lockdown routines and to keep up with Government changes and restrictions. Make sure you check in with our schedule often. 03.01.2022 Meet our Studio Manager Kelcey We spent a few minutes with Kelcey to find out why she loves KX and what she is currently studying at Uni. We also discovered that Kelcey would be handy to have around if we ever found ourselves having to live without electricity ... Why do you love KX? Whats not to love?? The instructors are always so bubbly and motivating, the studios are pretty, the workouts are so fun and no matter how many classes I have been to, I always end up sore and feel like I have accomplished something for the day. I have been a gym junkie, a couch potato, a yoga lover, I even tried running at one stage (I hated it) and then I found KX! I love the fact that even on days when I dont feel like getting out of bed, and getting my bum to the studio is the hardest thing in the world to do, just three minutes into the class, my body is warm and I feel 1000x more energised. Not only has my body shape changed, but I have a whole new family ... maybe its the endorphins but we all seem to love each other in the KX community which is just as great as the workout! What are you currently studying at uni? Nutritional Medicine Whats a fun fact about you? I dont know if its fun but I am originally from the deep South of WA. I grew up on a farm in Happy Valley, Denmark and when I was 13 my dad thought it would be funny (it wasnt) to live without power for a year and get back to the basics. I wouldnt recommend it if you want your children to still love you, but I did get a lot of sleep, read a lot of books and learn a lot of life skills that may come in handy if I get asked to go on survivor. You can catch Kelcey in the studio on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays !!

02.01.2022 We have received quite a few enquires of late regarding prenatal pilates and whether our beautifully pregnant clients can attend group classes. As a general rule of thumb a regular client can continue to attend group classes until around 15 weeks. After this point, due to the dynamic nature of our classes, we ask that clients continue their journey with either private 1:1 sessions with one of our qualified prenatal instructors or a womans health physiotherapist. It is im...portant to follow these guidelines as your baby and belly grow, taking into consideration that some exercises will no longer be suitable. Exercises that involve forward flexing or crunching of your abdominal muscles are best avoided. This includes crunches, knee tucks and even pikes. Instead, working your side abdominal muscles or obliques and the transverse abdominus or TVA muscles are safe to perform and will be much more effective. The TVA muscles run deep and essentially hold everything in place like a corset. Strengthening these core muscles can help with lower back pain and improved posture and stability. The basic plank and side planks are safe exercises to perform and are great for working these muscles. Performing them on your knees for less load is also an option. Any twisting action is also great for the obliques, so think woodchoppers, oblique knee tucks and upper torso rotations. It is important that you always consult your physician and stop any exercise if you feel unwell.

01.01.2022 World Baking Day is upon us Sunday, May 17. For those who dont know, World Baking Day is a day when folks from around the world pledge to bake a cake, pie, cookies anything sweet and bakeable for somebody special in their lives Stuck for ideas? Why not try out this recipe from trainer Ruby Head over to Rubys Instagram page @spoonfuls_byruby for more baking inspo HEALTHY FLORENTINES by Ruby ... There is something SO satisfying about biting into a crunchy Florentine cookie but theyre usually loaded with refined sugar, preservatives and a tonne of saturated and trans fat. I decided to come up with a healthier version and these seriously hit the spot! INGREDIENTS: 1 cup almonds 1/4 cup cashews 1/4 cup walnuts 1/2 cup sultanas 1/4 cup dried cranberries 2/3 cup honey 3-4large TBS almond butter 1 tsp vanilla essence 2 cups GF corn flakes 200g dark chocolate Method Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Spread almonds, walnuts and cashews flat on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes or until nuts are starting to brown slightly. Remove from the oven. While the nuts are cooking combine dried fruit and cornflakes in a large bowl. After baking, chop nuts and add to the bowl Heat honey, almond butter and vanilla over stove top until runny and combined. Pour the syrup into the bowl and mix to combine. Spoon mixture into cupcake holders and pop onto baking tray, flatten them down with a spoon (you may need to mould with wet hands slightly) Bake for 8 minutes, remove from oven and pop in freezer to harden (~1 hour or longer) Melt chocolate and when Florentines are solid dip them or just spoon chocolate on top Pop back into freezer or fridge to harden. Happy baking and let us know if you try this recipe

01.01.2022 IN THE KITCHEN WITH JAZ Trainer Jaz has been iso busy cooking up a storm. Each week we will share one of her delicious recipes for you to try at home. Let us know what you think STIR FRY STICKY NOODLES... Ingredients: Yields: 2 2 tablespoon Honey 2 tablespoon Oyster sauce 1 tablespoon Soy sauce 1 tablespoon Sesame oil teaspoon Chilli flakes 2 small, fresh chilli, thinly sliced 1 large brown onion, diced 4 cloves Garlic, diced 500 gm Potatoes, chopped into cubes (par boiled) 3 Carrots, chopped into small cubes 2 Eggs 1 packet uncooked Ramen Noodles 4 tablespoon Olive oil 1 teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Pepper Method: Place noodles in a large heatproof bowl. Cover with boiling water. Stand for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir with a fork to separate. Drain. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a medium skillet pan set to a medium heat. Place the potatoes into the pan, making sure they are distributed into one even layer. Sprinkle teaspoon salt for taste. Fry the potatoes for approximately 3-4 minutes, or until they are golden on the bottom, before turning them over. Cook for a further 3-4 minutes. Remove potatoes from the pan and set aside. Place the two eggs into a small saucepan. Cover with water so they are submerged by an inch. Place a lid on the saucepan and bring water to a boil on a high heat. Once the water has reached a rolling boil, set a timer for 6 minutes on a medium heat (this leaves the yolk creamy and soft in the middle) Drain the boiled water from the saucepan and run cold tap water over the eggs in the saucepan to prevent any further cooking. Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in the medium skillet pan over medium heat. Add half of the chopped garlic and carrots. Stir-fry for approximately four minutes, or until carrots are slightly tender. Add the green beans and stir fry for a further three minutes. Pour the honey and chilli flakes onto the vegetables and mix to combine. Cook for a further one minute until the sauce mixture starts to boil. Remove veggies and set aside. In a separate small pan, heat one teaspoon oil. Add the chopped onion and fry until crispy. remove from pan and set aside. Heat one teaspoon of olive oil into a medium pan. Add the other half of the chopped garlic and fresh chilli, frying until aromatic. Add the noodles, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and teaspoon of salt. Mix to combine. Feel free to add any extra sauce or chilli at this time. Remove eggs from the saucepan and carefully peel. Cut the eggs into halves. To serve, dish the noodles into two bowls, add the potatoes, carrots and beans. Place two egg halves next to the veggies and garnish with the fried onion. Bon appetite
