24.01.2022 I have entries for this in my office - please come pick one up!

23.01.2022 "I am very pleased to confirm that Western Australia has again detected zero new local cases overnight, with another incredible tally of tests conducted yesterday. Provided that no cases are detected in the next few hours, Perth, Peel and the South West will exit lockdown at 6pm tonight. This is an absolute credit to Western Australians. By stepping up, doing the right thing, and getting tested in such incredible numbers, we're able to move forward with confidence tonight. As... unveiled last night, at 6pm the South West will transition immediately back to pre-lockdown restrictions, while Perth and Peel will move to a transitional stage until Sunday 14 February. Over the coming eight days, it will be critical that we continue to follow the rules and keep up our testing numbers. I am so proud of how West Aussies have responded this week - banding together and getting the job done. The next week still won't be easy, but we will get through this, together." - Premier McGowan. 22.01.2022 NAIDOC parade past the office this morning always was, always will be. It is the responsibility of all of us to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners of this land. Now during NAIDOC Week of course but every day during the year as well.

22.01.2022 The McGowan Labor Government’s Aboriginal Procurement Policy has surpassed its 2019-20 targets by an astonishing 275 per cent, with more Aboriginal businesses than ever before engaged by the State Government. The recently released Aboriginal Procurement Policy Second Year Performance Report shows the policy is successfully improving the economic prosperity of Aboriginal businesses, their suppliers, sub-contractors and the broader Aboriginal community. In 2019-20 the State Go...vernment awarded 234 contracts worth over $172 million to Aboriginal businesses, which have actively contributed to Aboriginal economic development and downstream business benefits. This includes 7 contracts, worth $1,185,727 being awarded to Aboriginal businesses in the Goldfields-Esperance region.

20.01.2022 Every four years, a historic moment occurs at Government House. But I never thought it would look quite like this. Today I met with the Governor Kim Beazley for... the issuing of the writs for the upcoming state election. Despite suspending the WA Labor campaign because of the outbreak, the Governor is still required by law to issue the writs today in order for our fixed day election to take place on Saturday, 13 March. But our work to fight the emergencies facing our State will not stop. It is my number one responsibility as Premier. We want to crush this virus and WA is prepared for a COVID-safe election. The pandemic will pass, but our democratic traditions must, and will always continue into the future.

20.01.2022 Awesome to celebrate 10 years of Full Circle Therapies Inc. in the Goldfields on the weekend huge congrats to Kirsty and the team for a massive few years recently! Pictured here with my little mate Sebastian I met who is a real legend.

18.01.2022 Important update from the Premier: As you know, the short-sharp lockdown of Perth, Peel and the South West is due to end tomorrow evening at 6pm. As of 8pm tonight, I can confirm that we have recorded no new local cases of COVID-19. This is a remarkable achievement, and the credit belongs to each and every Western Australian. The short five-day lockdown has done the job it was designed to do to reassure us that we don’t have community spread of the virus....Continue reading

14.01.2022 What a great outcome for the Goldfields, for the migrants who have moved and settled here, and for the Goldfields Community Legal Centre who have been doing amazing work on this program.

14.01.2022 On Wednesday night I brought to the attention of the House yet another allegation of a multi-national ripping off a West Australian contractor. I will continue to call out these disgusting behaviours, as I have done on many occasions. You can watch the full statement here: https://youtu.be/aMUtcqALdRU

12.01.2022 Huge news for the Goldfields This is a significant announcement for Western Australia and yet another sign that confidence is returning to the State's economy, as we continue our recovery from COVID-19. I congratulate APA Group on its investment into this important project, which is expected to create 500 WA jobs throughout construction.... The Northern Goldfields Interconnect project is likely to stimulate significant economic development along its route in the Mid-West and throughout the Goldfields region.

11.01.2022 We’ve launched the Path to Safety: Western Australia’s strategy to reduce family and domestic violence 2020-2030, a long-term vision for a Western Australia where all people live free from family and domestic violence. It sets out a clear whole-of-government and community plan for reducing and responding to family and domestic violence over the next decade. This is part of a comprehensive packages of reforms and initiatives delivered by the State Government to increase the safety of woman and children.

10.01.2022 We have rolled out the $1 million WA Respectful Relationships Teaching Support Program pilot, supporting school staff to teach students about domestic violence prevention By teaching students about healthy and positive relationships and by implementation of a whole-of-school approach to violence prevention, we’re making sure WA students have a better understanding of preventing, identifying and stopping family and domestic violence.

06.01.2022 We’ve just released SafeWA, a free app which will provide businesses with a digital COVID-19 contact register system. SafeWA is endorsed by the Department of He...alth and includes key features such as unique QR codes for venues which patrons can scan to register their attendance. Data will be encrypted at the point of capture, stored securely and only be accessible by authorised Department of Health contact tracing personnel, should COVID-19 contact tracing be necessary. The app is being provided as a free, easy, contactless solution. A paper-based register system will also be available. To learn more and download the app visit safewa.health.wa.gov.au.

06.01.2022 The Kalgoorlie 'one-stop hub' for services to help victims of family and domestic violence, is on track to open by the end of this year. The hub will enhance safety and wellbeing by simplifying access to supports, promoting wraparound services and supports where women experience less trauma by only having to tell their story once not to multiple services. The new regional hub will provide additional options for people experiencing family and domestic violence in Kalgoorlie-Boulder and surrounding communities to seek help.

03.01.2022 Remembrance Day 2020 Thank you to my staffer George for laying a wreath on my behalf in Kalgoorlie today - I’m sitting in Parliment this week. I would encourage everyone to spend some time today thinking about the sacrifices made for our freedoms. And to specifically spend time remembering our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers who fought, many of whom were not properly recognised for their service.
