13.01.2022 Why you can’t stay to watch, or be with your dog while it’s getting groomed YOU are creating a very UNSAFE environment for your dog & the Groomer ... Th...is is a very serious topic, and I understand many of you don’t work in this industry so you will not have the understanding of how grooming works and the reasoning behind this ... so here I am to try to explain my industry and try to help educate you grooming can be a stressful situation for a dog, and i for one have a sound skill set on keeping dogs calm. We also use super sharp tools while grooming which can cut skin just upon touching of scissor blades etc. trust me I’ve sliced my fingers many times just from my finger accidental hitting the side of my scissors When you stay You are creating more anxiety for your dog. WHY? Because your dog has a connection with you, it wants to be with you, yet it is stuck away from you (on the grooming table) Making it feel trapped and anxious, and wanting to get to you. Your dog will move around to see you, figure out how to get to you, cry, pant, bark, jump. This anxiety can also set off other dogs who were otherwise calm in the salon. Meaning my job becomes even harder with the next groom. Can you imagine trying to cut the hair of a moving target? That’s the environment you are creating by staying! Therefore, you are creating more anxiety and a higher risk of a groomer cutting themselves or more so cutting YOUR DOG. So if your dog is nervous & you love it dearly. Please leave the Groomer to do what they are trained to. Allow the groomer to do what they do best, calm your dog and work with it safely. So for the safety and health of your dog, can you see why it’s not the right decision to ask to stay??
