25.01.2022 THE EDUCATORS ROLE// MONTESORI TEACHING The Montessori teachers role is different from the role played by traditional teachers. Traditional teachers present a lesson to large group of students who are expected to listen and absorb the information provided. Montessori teachers work with only one or two students at a time providing learning material for the needs and interests of each child in the class. The teachers advise, present a lesson or observe children quietly while ...they work. In this way, children work at their own pace in a peaceful environment. #montessoriteacher #theroleofthemontessoriteacher #educator #educatorsrole #earlychildhood #practicallife #montessoripracticallife #montessorisensorial #sensorial #sorting #sortingactivity #encouragement #maths #montessorimaths #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare

23.01.2022 BUTTERFLY LIFE CYCLE // BIOLOGY To begin their exploration of biology, children are introduced to the concept of living vs. nonliving. Teachers read books about and discuss the needs of living things: soil, air, and water, and often exhibit real objects that the children can hold and study. Children create categories using objects and photographs, dividing them into groups of living and nonliving things, plants and animals, vertebrates and invertebrates. Finally, the fi...ve vertebrate classes fish, amphibian, reptile, bird, and mammal are introduced. Children learn about the variety of animals in each group, their distinct features, the names of their body parts, and their habitats #montessoribiology#biology #zoology #educatorsrole #earlychildhood #butterfly #butterflylifecylce #montessorisensorial #insects #encouragement #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare
23.01.2022 THE BEAD CABINET || When a student first walks into a Montessori classroom and explore the room, they are instantly drawn towards the beauty, simplicity and elegance of this seemingly magical material called the bead cabinet. The children learn how to count in linear sequence, and then progress to mastering skip counting. Montessori students begin working with the material around four years of age once they can confidently count from 1 to 100. The main purpose of the Bead Ca...binet is to help develop childrens knowledge about numbers from the concrete to the abstract. By working with the material, children form a strong understanding of number sequencing, as they learn how to skip count by twos, threes, all the way through to tens. #montessorieducation #montessorischool #montessoriaustralia #qualitychildcare #thebeadcabinet #skipcounting #importanceofearlychildhoodeducation #montessoridifference#comingsoon #staysafe #earlychildhood #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorisydney #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare #redrodsmontessori
23.01.2022 Joy reveals itself through busy, natural learning where children are free to move about and talk to one another, a place where community flourishes along with individual learning. Children who freely choose their work and develop their own inner teacher are happy children. They find comfort, routine and joy through the very process of their work. In whatever form it takes, concentrated work is the key to a childs joy in school. #montessorieducation #montessorischool #patien...cenparenting #montessoridifference #comingsoon #mariamontessori #staysafe #earlychildhood #themontessoriclassroom #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorisydney #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare #redrodsmontessori #joy See more
22.01.2022 MARIA MONTESSORI || Maria Montessori was born on the 31st August 1870 in the town of Chiaravalle, Italy. When Maria graduated secondary school, she became determined to enter medical school and become a doctor. Despite facing many obstacles due to her gender, Maria qualified as a doctor in July 1896. At the age of twenty-eight Maria began advocating her controversial theory that the lack of support for mentally and developmentally disabled children was the cause of their deli...nquency. In 1901 Maria began her own studies of educational philosophy and anthropology, lecturing and teaching students, Maria was offered the opportunity to introduce her materials and practice to 'normal' children. There, in 1907, she opened the first Casa dei Bambini (Children's House) bringing some of the educational materials she had developed at the Orthophrenic School. What she came to realise was that children who were placed in an environment where activities were designed to support their natural development had the power to educate themselves. By 1909 Maria gave her first training course in her new approach to around 100 students. Her notes from this period provided the material for her first book published that same year in Italy, appearing in translation in the United States in 1912 as The Montessori Method, and later translated into 20 languages. #montessorieducation #montessorischool #patiencenparenting #montessoridifference #comingsoon #mariamontessori #staysafe #earlychildhood #themontessoriclassroom #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorisydney #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare #redrodsmontessori
21.01.2022 MEAL TIMES// Mealtimes with a young child in a Montessori classroom looks a little different than most people might expect.Teachers commonly give children unbreakable plastic ware to eat with in a high chair that puts them at a distance from the table. But the Montessori method doesnt separate children from the grownup way of eating. We want to give children a sense of independence by providing them with child-size versions of real tableware and letting them sit at the table... #montessorieducation #montessorischool #montessoriaustralia #montessorimaths #montessorinumberrods #childmealtimes #montessoridifference#comingsoon #staysafe #earlychildhood #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorisydney #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare #redrodsmontessori
18.01.2022 PRACTICAL LIFE// SORTING Children have a natural desire to make sense of their world, to create order in a world that seems largely out of their control. For that reason, sorting activities often attract children. Sorting is a beginning math skill. It may seem that a big chunk early math is about learning numbers and quantity, but there's much more to it. By sorting, children understand that things are alike and different as well as that they can belong and be organized into... certain groups. Getting practice with sorting at an early age is important for numerical concepts and grouping numbers and sets when they're older. This type of thinking starts them on the path of applying logical thinking to objects, mathematical concepts and every day life in general. #bekind #saveourfuture #diversity #race #aboriginal #aborginalculture #practicallife #montessoripracticallife #montessorisensorial #sensorial #sorting #sortingactivity #encouragement #maths #montessorimaths #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare
18.01.2022 BENEFITS OF PRACTICAL LIFE ACTIVITIES With practical tasks, we can keep children happily occupied while their movement improves in coordination, their egos develop and are reinforced and the personal security and self-esteem continue to be enhanced. These important messages are absorbed in the developing human being and will serve to sustain him throughout all future activities: I can, I am capable, I am worthy of something, my collaboration is needed by the people with whom I live, my work is important to others and I can transform the world around me with my work.

17.01.2022 MOVABLE ALPHABET || The moveable alphabet is a box of individual letters that have been cut out so the child can move them around to make up words. Typically the consonants are pink or red and the vowels are blue. The child familiarises him or herself with the materials by finding the known letters, taking them out of the box and then working out where to put them back in. The adult then says a word which incorporates the known sounds and models how to sound and identify ea...ch letter in turn and place them from left to right to make a word. After modelling a couple and inviting the child to say, identify and find the symbols which match the sounds, the child is encouraged to continue to think of words they would like to make and to continue in the same way. #montessorieducation #montessorischool #montessoriaustralia #qualitychildcare #importanceofearlychildhoodeducation #montessoridifference #comingsoon #staysafe #earlychildhood #movablealphabet #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorisydney #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare #redrodsmontessori
17.01.2022 PRE WRITING ACTIVITY Pre-writing skills are necessary to master in the early years for many important reasons. Just like children need to walk before they can run, students need to master pre-writing skills before they can have legible and efficient handwriting. Some benefits of working on pre-writing skills include: Promoting proper hand grasp/pencil grasp on objects used in hands-on activities (such as tongs, paint brushes, grasping objects, etc). Particularly working o...n the pincer grasp will be helpful for future handwriting skills. 15.01.2022 The Decalogue of Montessori The ten fundamental rules as outlined by Dr. Maria Montessori can be found in the front entrance way of many Montessori schools. It serves as a reminder to the staff and administration, and as an outline to parents of what the expectations are when it comes to the care of the children. 1. Never touch the child unless invited by him (in some form or the other).... 2. Never speak ill of the child in his presence or absence. 3. Concentrate on strengthening and helping the development of what is good in the child that its presence may leave less and less space for evil. 4. Be active in preparing the environment. Take meticulous and constant care of it. Help the child establish constructive relations with it. Show the proper place where the means of development are kept and demonstrate their proper use. 5. Be ever ready to answer the call of the child who stands in need of you, and always listen and respond to the child who appeals to you. 6. Respect the child who makes a mistake and can then or later correct himself, but stop firmly and immediately any misuse of the environment and any action which endangers the child, his development or others. 7. Respect the child who takes rest or watches others working or ponders over what he himself has done or will do. Neither call him nor force him to other forms of activity. 8. Help those who are in search of activity and cannot find it. 9. Be untiring in repeating presentations to the child who refused them earlier, in helping the child acquire what is not yet his own and overcome imperfections. Do this by animating the environment with care, with restraint and silence, with mild words and loving presence. Make your ready presence felt to the child who searches and hide from the child who has found. 10. Always treat the child with the best of good manners and offer him the best you have in yourself and at your disposal. See more

15.01.2022 METAL INSETS// Metal Insets is an activity that offers the child help to prepare for writing. The child uses each inset with a pencil to trace the shape onto paper. The Metal Insets invite the child to create as many geometric design possibilities as their imagination will allow. These drawing activities facilitate lightness of touch and evenness of pressure. As the child uses this material the muscles in their fingers, hand and wrist are strengthened allowing their pin...cer grip to develop and coordination of the necessary wrist movement for writing. #monesstorieducation #montessoritoschool #metalinsets #independence #educatorsrole #earlychildhood #encouragement #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare
14.01.2022 PRACTICAL LIFE Practical Life activities are the activities of everyday life and they are involved in all aspects of life. The child observes these activities in the environment and gains knowledge through the real experience of how to accomplish life skills in a purposeful way. These activities are cultural and specific to the child's time and place. Practical life activities help give the child a sense of being and belonging, established through participation in daily lif...e with us. Through practical life the child learns about his culture and all about what it is to be human. Generally the activities of practical life revolve around four areas: Caring for the Self, Caring for the Environment, Grace & Courtesy and Movement of Objects. There is another area which encompasses all four areas and which is a very important part of practical life, namely food. Practical Life activities are an integral part of any Montessori environment. #monesstorieducation #montessoritoschool #practicallife #comingsoon #montessoripracitcallife #earlychildhood #encouragement #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare

10.01.2022 THE CYLINDER BLOCKS// help a child develop tenacity in seeking out the right answer, and comfort with making mistakes, as it is in making mistakes we stumble upon our deepest learning. Additionally, a child is learning many internal characteristics. The goal is that a child doesnt find where a cylinder belongs through mechanical testing, but through visual examination, which is more difficult. This grows self-control and discipline. Lastly, this is a preparation for math. 09.01.2022 How dose a child transition to a traditional school after being at Montessori? Montessori is considered education for life, this implies all of lifes challenges and includes transitioning from a Montessori school to a traditional high school. A child who has been enrolled with Montessori from the age of three will have had many years of practice in working collaboratively, negotiating, leading, following and learning how to adapt and rely on themselves. This is the perfect... preparation and provides maximum potential for your child to develop for their move to traditional schooling. In fact all of the skills a child learns in their time in Montessori will assist them in high school, tertiary education and the workplace. #monesstorieducation #montessoritoschool #schooltranistion #preprationtoschool #educatorsrole #earlychildhood #encouragement #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare

05.01.2022 KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE Maria Montessori wrote about the importance of supervising the hygiene at her centers: as soon as the children arrive at school we make an inspection for cleanliness. If possible, this should be carried on in the presence of the mothers, but their attention should not be called to it directly. We examine the hands, the nails, the neck, the ears, the face, the teeth; and care is given to the tidiness of the hair. If any of the garments are torn o...r soiled or ripped, if the buttons are lacking, or if the shoes are not clean, we call the attention of the child to this. In this way, the children become accustomed to observing themselves and take an interest in their own appearance. #monesstorieducation #montessoritoschool #montessorihygine #comingsoon #staysafe earlychildhood #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare
04.01.2022 THE DIFFERENCE// The Montessori education is unique in its profound respect for a childs sincere desire and ability to learn, and in its recognition of his need for independence. A balanced attention to intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual development is regarded as fundamental to their progress and enjoyment in learning. Children have an innate curiosity and love of work, and of order, that can become life-long traits if encouraged appropriately. 04.01.2022 NUMBERS & COUNTERS 123 Many early childhood classrooms promote counting activities with various numerals and counters, but there are a few elements that make the "Montessori" version unique. Firstly, the use of wood rather than plastic creates a beautiful, inviting aesthetic. The presence of exactly the right number of counters (as opposed to the haphazard provision of random quantities sometimes seen in classrooms) helps to provide a 'control of error' so the child can... independently assess his/her counting. The use of one colour throughout, and simple counters (not novelty shapes), also isolates the purpose of the lesson rather than creating a distraction through an array of colours or patterns. #counting #numbersandcounters #montessoriintherealworld #educatorsrole #earlychildhood #encouragement #encouragmentvspraise #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare
03.01.2022 NUMBER RODS 123 These rods may seem familiar to you, and they should if youve ever seen the Red Rods. They are exactly the same except for one feature: alternating blue and red segments. The child will typically work with the Number Rods after mastering the Red Rods. If you recall, the Red Rods help establish visual discrimination of length. The Number Rods are a natural progression, naming the quantity shown on each number rod with red and blue demarcations. 03.01.2022 GEOMETRIC SOLIDS The Geometric Solids with bases belong to the Sensorial Area that Dr. Montessori emphasized as crucial for the childs development of his senses and key in understanding the world that surrounds him. The 10 three dimensional geometric shapes are specifically designed to allow the child the exploration of each through the touch and visual senses. This way he discovers its characteristics by playing and touching the shape of each solid. This educational toy c...an be used in different ways. At first, the child can simply touch the geometric bodies to get familiarized with their differences. Later on, he may recognize each by name. Once he knows their names many games can be proposed: they can all be placed inside a tray and hidden under handkerchief. The child can be asked to grab one at random without seeing and guess only by touching which solid it is. This game can be played with two or more friends at a time making it a great activity to share! Another possibility is to ask the child to find under the handkerchief a specific geometric solid by naming it. Only with his hands he can recognize the three dimensional shape and find it! There are many ideas that can be put in action with this Montessori material. And remember there are also 11 flat bases that make a fantastic addition to this toy: they challenge the child to visually match the geometric solid with its geometric shape base. As he plays with this wooden toy he will realize that more than one solid body can share one same base! #monesstorieducation #montessoritoschool #geometricsolids #comingsoon #staysafe #earlychildhood #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare
03.01.2022 Sand Paper Numbers// The Sandpaper Numerals (sometimes known as the 'Textured Numerals' or 'Tactile Numerals') are a fundamental part of the Montessori Numeracy Curriculum. These number symbols provide a tactile sensation so that a child can form both a visual and sensory impression of each numeral. Our educators utilise the 'Three Period Lesson' format to help the child to relate the name relating to each number symbol (that is, "one" to 1, "two" to 2 and so forth). Each time the child uses the fingertips to trace the number shape a 'muscular memory' is developed and reinforced. This will translate to success and confidence during later attempts to write numbers, as the hand and mind are both familiar with the movements required to form each numeral.
02.01.2022 BIG//MEDIUM//SMALL- Maria Montessori's sensorial work uses "sorting" in specific ways that work to use all of the child's senses, one at a time, in order to refine them. The goal is to train the brain to create more organized thoughts and ways of retrieving information. Montessori also recognized how much children appreciated order in their worlds (a large piece of her main philosophy) and how important it was for them to create this order independently. While the works given... to the child are teaching them valuable skills, they don't seem to notice what they're learning. It is delightful work for them. Montessori also believed that when children are given a work that uses senses that they hadn't noticed or are new to the child, the learning and awakening that occurs is just as important. What is learned isn't just kept in isolation with a singular work; the child uses the sensory information and intelligence gained and applies it to other areas of his life, furthering his adaptations and experiences within it. 01.01.2022 Dr. Montessori emphasizes the use of real materials in the classroom. She believed that imagination is the natural inclination of the child; it stems from what is real. To stimulate children’s imagination, give them real objects and a real understanding of the world. While it is natural for children to be drawn to fantasy, it is the knowledge from the real world that can enrich their ability to imagine and create. #montessorieducation #montessorischool #patiencenparenting #...montessoridifference #comingsoon #mariamontessori #staysafe #earlychildhood #themontessoriclassroom #newbusiness #newchildcare #underconstruction #montessorisydney #montessorichildcare #supportsmallbusiness #montessoriwesternsydney #wetherillparkchildcare #childcarecomingsoon #earylearningcentre #mariamontessori #montessoriphilosophy #montessorieducation #childcare #redrodsmontessori #joy See more
