23.01.2022 Could you help with this project to promote healthier masculinities in the Macedon Ranges? The most valuable thing you can bring to the working group is your experience of being a young person and your ideas on how we can challenge gender stereotypes faced by young people in the Macedon Ranges. To find out more, contact Deepa via email [email protected].

23.01.2022 You might have seen our recent promotion about the upcoming online education sessions we’re running for carers and family members of people living with dementia. Woodend local Sandra came across our article in the latest edition of the New Woodend Star and it prompted her to get in touch. Sandra has been working hard to make ‘Busy Blankets’ knee rugs that have activities and different textures to help people with dementia stay occupied. ... She has kindly donated the blankets to our Treehouse clients and we know they are going to be well received. We therefore want to say a huge thank-you to Sandra for thinking of us! We can’t wait to share them with our clients. For those interested in our upcoming online dementia education sessions, the first one is on Monday 14th September and will focus on Coping with changes in behaviours. 22.01.2022 10,000 THANK-YOUS We recently passed a major milestone at Kyneton Health more than 10,000 COVID-19 tests have been taken by our nursing staff, with the recent support of the ADF. This isn’t something to celebrate in itself, but it does demonstrate our community’s commitment to coming forward to help track the spread of the virus. ... Getting tested isn’t something to be ashamed of - it shows that you care about yourself and those around you. By encouraging one another to get tested, and supporting those who test positive throughout the recovery process, we are looking after our friends, our family and our wider community. So today we want to say thank-you to every one of those 10,000 people who have been tested at Kyneton Health. Together, we can slow the spread. Photo Credit: Sandy Scheltema Photographer

05.01.2022 Kyneton Health was recently tasked with conducting contact tracing and clinical monitoring of positive COVID-19 cases who reside in the Macedon Ranges. We provided this localised service on behalf of Bendigo Health’s Public Health Unit who are responsible for the Loddon-Mallee region. Part of the role of the contact tracers was to conduct daily welfare checks on positive cases as there is the potential for them to deteriorate during the course of the disease. This has been c...hallenging work for the team however feedback from the community has been outstanding and their dedicated support very much appreciated. The following feedback was received from a member of our community: I would like to thank your whole team for the care and concern shown to me over the last four weeks. It was a great comfort knowing that someone was on the end of the phone if I needed them. [] Your care and concern and the fact that you always rang and never missed a day helped more than you or your colleagues will ever know. Knowing that I could ring [] your team during the day made me feel safe. Everyone in the team made me feel like I was more than just a name on a list that they needed to contact. Thank you again. Thankfully, all positive cases under our care are now well and no longer considered active. This means our contract tracers can return to their usual roles within the hospital, with our sincere thanks.

02.01.2022 VIRTUAL DANCE SESSION FOR TREEHOUSE CLIENTS The team at the Treehouse continue to embrace virtual technology with their first online dance session held yesterday afternoon. Three treehouse clients, plus the dance instructor (a regular Treehouse volunteer) and Treehouse coordinator, Dora Mansbridge, logged in to the session. ... Dora is pleased with how the trial went and plans to continue to offer this to clients in the coming weeks: Dance is a regular feature of our usual Treehouse program, so it’s great we can continue to offer this whilst we wait for our program to resume face to face again. It was so lovely to see our clients enjoying the music - Annie and her husband were up and dancing, the rest of us bopped along and clapped to the music. It was lots of fun and a great circuit breaker from the usual routine, said Dora. Future sessions will remain small to keep clients engaged and troubleshoot where required. With this year’s Dementia Action Week theme being ‘A little support makes a lot of difference’, we hope these virtual sessions will continue to help our clients and their carers feel connected to our services. We can’t wait to get back to dancing in person!
