25.01.2022 Do you grow from cuttings? This is a great idea for an easy way to do that.

20.01.2022 Many of you will have heard of Diggers Club. They have a garden & shop not far away in Blackwood. You need to be a member for discounts and some other benefits. But they also have a "Garden Advice" section to their website that is available to all and has some good videos and other info. By the way, Kyneton is in Cold zone 9 and Heat zone 4 in their system. https://www.diggers.com.au/garden-advice/

19.01.2022 Good Life Permaculture is another great resource. They have free videos, a blog and a fb page. Tassie based. https://goodlifepermaculture.com.au/about/free-videos/

19.01.2022 We've shared this website before as it's based on 30 years gardening experience in Ballarat, which has a very similar climate to us. Now looking even better.

19.01.2022 Want to study permacutlure now? Face to face permaculture courses are fantastic but if you have constraints on money, time, travel or just want to do some study during lockdown, you could try this free course. Not based in Australia but lots of examples from all over. Very thorough as it's 52 classes - designed to be done weekly over a year but now flexible delivery. https://www.freepermaculture.com/

18.01.2022 If you're after gardening info, you can't go past ABC's Gardening Australia. You may watch the show but have you explored their website? It's amazing. There's a plant finder, fact sheets, lots of vegie info or just (re)watch some of their segments and programs. You can get lost for hours... https://www.abc.net.au/gardening/

16.01.2022 A great resource for permaculture living is Artist as Family based in Daylesford. Lots of great stuff on community and household resilience. https://theartistasfamily.blogspot.com/

15.01.2022 It's International Compost Awareness week and the local council is running a competition for it. And the prize is a load of compost. Could be a great boost for garden preparation over these colder months. And on Friday they have some webinars running with a soil scientist. Details here: https://www.mrsc.vic.gov.au//Bins-Rubbish-Recycling/Mulch-

15.01.2022 Would you like to go on a permaculture tour while you're staying at home? Happen Films have a few tours and other relevant films - some are as close as Melbourne, Hepburn and Seymour and some are further afield. Check them out here: https://happenfilms.com/permaculture

14.01.2022 Help a great local regenerative farmer by just subscribing to his youtube channel.

14.01.2022 We recently snuck up to 400 likes on this page. A great little community. Please let us know if there are other things you'd like to see on this page. We miss having a chat with some of you at our produce swap table at the market. Hope to be back in September to hear how your gardens are going and what else you've been up to.

11.01.2022 Retrosuburbia is the name of the latest David Holmgren book and website. It covers all aspects of permaculture living appropriate to where many of us live - in town. It is divided into three main fields: built, biological and behavioural. Since lockdown they have made the online version of the book available for what you choose to pay. There are also many resources and case studies on the website. Great to explore. https://retrosuburbia.com/

09.01.2022 Friends, the Victorian Expressions of Interest process for the former Kyneton Primary School site concludes on 1st June. Check out the DELWP webpage for the EoI document. Please get across the Kyneton District Town Square Cooperative Inc.website (kynetononline.org) for info and contacts. This community cooperative has been advocating its credentials to manage the former primary school site on behalf of the community. Also, check out the Cooperative's Facebook information. Ap...art from individual memberships, there are several community organisations that are members of the Cooperative. The Cooperative's community vision is inclusive BUT seeks to avoid fragmentation of management of this valuable community precinct by different organizations, including the Macedon Ranges Shire Council. The Cooperative is wanting to embrace the needs and activities of Kyneton & District community organizations as well as businesses and individuals having proposals that meet the goals and objectives of the Cooperative. Indeed, there will be opportunities for Government agencies to promote their activities within the precinct (e.g.MRSC Arts & Cultural events; Kyneton Museum exhibitions; VicGov & MRSC community information etc) The Cooperative's vision for the open space between the Goldfields Library/Kyneton Bowling Club and the former school's buildings is oriented to maximise this area for the recreational space for town workers, residents and community, visitors and tourists. Open space for the Kyneton Daffodil & Arts Festival and other festivals, community markets and entertainment opportunities that includes the possible development of an amphitheatre. The Cooperative is aware of the challenges in achieving its community oriented objectives, including addressing the importance of the issues surrounding the financial sustainability of its planning for the development of the primary school site for the Kyneton & district community, visitors and tourists. Its creative practical thinking and objectives could be a template for the use of former Victorian school buildings and precincts in rural regional areas. See more

08.01.2022 If you need to know about growing fruit, these are the people to help. They're just up the road in Harcourt and have been growing organic fruit for many years. They now share their land with other organic growers who sell fruit boxes and fruit trees (currently taking orders for bare rooted trees). Lots of information free on their site (including a free weekly webinar) but they also have inexpensive online courses. They are known as Mount Alexander Fruit Gardens. https://www.mafg.com.au/

04.01.2022 Another great permaculture website is hosted by PIP the Australian permaculture magazine. Lots of great free articles, videos and podcasts as well as a regular newsletter. The paid hardcopy magazine is good too. https://www.pipmagazine.com.au/

04.01.2022 The Kyneton Permaculture at the Pub group is having virtual get togethers at this time. If you know anything about permaculture or don't but may like to, or even if you're just interested in developing your sustainable garden, perhaps you might like to join them. Contact them through their fb page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/kynetonpermacultureatthepub/

03.01.2022 If Retrosuburbia has whet your appetite for being more sustainable in town, then you'll love Under the Choko Tree.
