17.01.2022 Midland Shield is on this Sunday. Basically register just below Yatch Club at 7 and register, I will be there to give you form and rules etc. The club will pay for your entry and five dollars worth of raffle tickets and then fish up until 3pm. Photo with tag, catch and release or keep and measure. No BBQ this year at end, but I will put on a sausage sizzle after, maximum of ten. Covid rules apply....... Let me know if you are coming unfortunately our Melbourne members will not make it this time but we will be having something later. Carmello has been catching Yellas at Eppalock last week. Water is still rising. Peter, Robert, John, Terry and friends spent some time on the Murray near Cohuna last week targeting Yellas but only caught one a 52cm. Methods worms, shrimp, yabbies, lures trolling and cast, A number of Cod were caught the biggest a 62cm and returned waiting for Cod season. The river was high and flowing fast more rain is expected in the catchments so should be great Cod season coming up in a month. For those not in the Club and want to fish send a message and I will let you know details..... Cheers and tight lines....John Photo Baby Crays and yabbies were being caught in our shrimp nets.

15.01.2022 Great fishing On the Loddon...

09.01.2022 Vera fishing for Yellas on the Loddin lands a 40+ Cod ...here she is just before returning it to the water...Well done Vera that deserves a prize at our Christmas party....showing up dad hey! Mean while...From Rohan, Hi John. Fished Lauriston Res Saturday by kayak for 2 hours 6-8pm. Water temp @ 20 degrees. Plenty of fish on the sounder, medium size between 1 and 2 meters, large fish midwater and bottom. Some bites on Zman 2.5 Slim Swimz (Pearl @ Calico Candy) both slow tr...awling and bottom hopping. Cheers, Rohan. Dave and Brad have been catching Yellas at Eppalock on lures in close and Caurn Curran is still firing.

08.01.2022 Spent a few days at Eppalock Fishing it was tough... only a few small Redfin and large Carp caught. All methods used.. Water temp at boat 21-23c, barometric pressure low and erratic, water turbidity clear, water level slowly dropping and at 43% , south easterly winds predominant with sudden changes. This time last year in contrast was very good fishing for alll species... But hey it was nice to be on the water...and a swim now and again was great... Carmello has had much the... same experience... Graham had an interesting experience at Cairn Curran on catching a small Redfin and put back and an Eagle swooped down and got it right in front of him... Happy Days and Tight Lines See more

08.01.2022 John wins the Perpetual Shield of the Midland Shield with a 550mm Yella. Joining many well known fishermen from Central Victoria. Castlemaine won the Shield, Maryborough second and Kyneton third great show by our club , Bendigo Fly and Heathcote also there. Run at Cairn Curran the best day of the season thus far, wind early south easterly changing to a northerly and the dropping off at midday. Strangely the fishing dropped off then. The water was at 50% and steady, medium t...urbidity, temp at boat quite cool for this time of year 16 to 18c, barometer was steady to rising 1020hp. All anglers caught fish whether on boat or shore mainly Golden Perch, small Redfin, and carp. Worms yabbies, lures, jigging at the boat was very effective for Yella bellies. One boat landed 9 keeper YBs from jigging ( only five allowed to keep) Seb, Rob and John from Kyneton were our most productive fishermen. ( Photos on FB and Instagram) But all had a great time and we tried out our new Webber style BBQ for our snags after. Thanks to Sean Crombie (Maryborough)and Greg Hellsten ( Bendigi Fly) and Midland and North Central Angling Association for the day. Stay tuned for date of Christmas breakup and fish in December. Welcome back to our Melbourne Members ... See more
