12.01.2022 If your coming down to the Kyneton Community Park-Garden Party on Saturday then don't forget you can grab a freshly ground coffee from the stunning little 'Wanda' caravan. There will also be delicious treats for all the kids. Bring your own cup and you can save 50 cents. Let's keep our park clean from rubbish!!!

25.12.2021 Come and join this wonderful celebration for a special place!

17.12.2021 These are some of the women who made it happen.

12.12.2021 Come on down! The gates are open. Today there was a small ceremony to finally open the park. Anyone who ever attended an event, signed a petition, sold or bought a raffle ticket, baked, stitched, questioned or donated is as much a part of the park as the dignitaries who spoke today. ... Photos to come

09.12.2021 This is disappointing but don't let it over shadow all the good work that has been done! Kyneton - this is your park. The more we use it for good, the less this will happen. Opening will be real soon. Get down there and check out the amazing new things that have been installed.

06.12.2021 So close you can almost smell it! In the past fortnight there have been some major changes including: The gravel circuit path has been completed;... Softfall sand and mulch are fully installed; Preparation for rubber paths continues; The main asphalt path is being prepared; The two refurbished tractors have been delivered; The sandpit digger has been installed; Lawns are being laid; and The stock fence maze is being constructed. Off-site, the tank fort cubby decorations are being made. We are looking forward to: Asphalting the main path; Finalising the tank fort cubbies; Furniture installation; and Site reinstatement. While we are asphalting, we will resurface some of the adjoining asphalt paths and internal roads to improve the transition between the community park and the surrounding Botanic Gardens. This work will create some disturbance, with McKenna Drive closing for a short period and the intersection of Clowes and Ebden Streets being disrupted. We will try to minimise the disruption by providing more information when dates have been finalised and providing signage on-site during work. We apologise for any inconvenience.

20.11.2021 Update from MRSC - Lots of progress to report. Take a look at the pictures to see where recent works have been concentrated. Over the last few weeks: The ropes course (imported from Germany) has been installed... The tank forts have been installed and they fit into the space very well The petanque court is in progress The play tunnels are in progress We are looking forward to: planting garden beds completing paths constructing the stock fence maze installing a drinking fountain and bike racks completing surfaces; and laying turf. Off-site, the two donated tractors are being refurbished ready for installation. It’s hard to believe after so long the works are now coming to an end and the park will soon be ready. The main landscaping works mentioned above are due for completion over the coming few weeks, and we are planning an official ‘political’ launch (attended by government representatives attached to the funding of the park) in late June. While that is being planned we’ll keep working on other elements that will be added as they are completed such as some animal sculptures, an entrance art piece, the mosaic art and interpretive signs component and a new toilet block to replace the existing red brick block. As previously mentioned we will also be planning a community celebration event (pencilled in for early Sept).

02.11.2021 OPPORTUNITY ~ Kyneton Community Park Artwork After a long period of planning and preparation, the Kyneton Community Park is under construction. We are now seek...ing expressions of interest from local artists for chainsaw and metal art for the project. This is a community project and it would be fantastic if we could work with local people on this part of the project. We are particularly interested in a chainsaw artist to create 3 timber sheep and 1 pig. The animals are to be approximately 2 x 1 x.59 solid timber hardwood, without rotting or major cracks. We are also seeking a steel/metal artist to create an entrance arbour and a cubby entrance. The cubby entrance has a natural theme and should be engaging for children. The entrance is to reflect the local area. Contact Janyce on 03 5421 9645 or [email protected] to discuss this project further.

26.10.2021 We need you! Council are looking for someone to renovate (make safe) two tractors suitable for play. This might be a boiler maker, an artist, a sheet metal worker, a panel beater or a restorations specialist. Get in touch with Jodie Turner at Macedon Ranges Shire Council if you are interested.

16.10.2021 If you go down to the Kyneton Botanic Gardens today, you’re sure of a big surprise Construction works for the Kyneton Community Park are happening! Here are some of the park elements in their very early stages.

30.09.2021 Update on Park Construction from Macedon Ranges Shire Council Last Tuesday 6 December we hosted a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony as well as a Cultural Induction performed by Taungurung men David Merry and Rodney Monk. It was a great way to connect the project to the traditional owners, the lands origins and also mark the occasion of a new beginning for the site. The ceremonies were attended by Cr Radnedge, former KCP Inc President, current Friends of Kyneton Botanic ...Gardens members including their president, the Landscape Architects Laidlaw and Laidlaw, the landscaping contractor representative, Council’s Parks staff and Council staff involved in delivering the project. The cultural induction was a great educative session helping us all to understand the rich history of the Taungurung clan in the Kyneton area and the significance of cultural artefacts that may be found on the site. After the ceremony, the following works have occurred or are due to be completed prior to Christmas: The worksite fence has been erected to provide a safe work area for the contractors and to define the works for the community, The surveyor has marked out all the critical elements of the development, Council officers have met with the main contractor, the Landscape Architect and the play equipment contractor to review and finalise the set-out, Tree Protection Zones have started to be marked out and will continue to be set out, Weed control has commenced and will continue, We have selected some wonderful rocks from generous donors in Tylden and Kyneton and delivery of these will commence next week, Our first delivery of donated tyres will also arrive over the coming two weeks, We will continue to seek and arrange delivery of donations in preparation for their installation after Christmas, and Park trees to be planted outside the park development area have been marked out in preparation for planting.
