24.01.2022 COVID Update - 13 August, 2020 Kyneton Health continues to do an amazing job with contact tracing and testing. As there are now multiple positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) reported in the school community, and more broadly within Kyneton itself, the complexity of contact tracing has increased. As such, its important to protect the vulnerable people in our community by continuing to remain at home. Additionally, if you have been contacted by DHHS and advised to remain... at home or self-isolate, you must follow their instructions. However, just to confirm, other family members, partners and people sharing a home, do not need to remain at home (unless requested by DHHS to do so). This means those people may leave the home to attend their job (if a permitted worker), exercise daily within the State 3 restrictions, seek care, give care, or shop for essential goods. Access to the School The school is undergoing a further deep clean this week. When the school is officially re-opened, we will organise a schedule for students to return onsite if they need to collect resources for remote and flexible learning. Thank you for your continued patience and support. We will provide further information as soon as we receive any updates from DHHS. Stay safe & well.

24.01.2022 Gareth and Kyle from the Wellbeing and Equity teams are creating a space for KHS students to socialise during these distance learning weeks. We will be running social online games which will only require a device (laptop/tablet) and a phone. Students are welcome to express their interest to their homegroup teachers and receive the link from them. The image below shows the timetable for the time being. We will adjust this depending on demand. Hope to see you there! Gareth & Kyle

21.01.2022 Our Year 10 Project Ready students have been working hard this year on achieving their VET Certificate II in Active Volunteering. As part of this they have been working on a project to improve the facilities at the school's boxing gym. The students are looking for donations to help source new equipment, including boxing gloves, mouth guards, club singlets, and hopefully, self-defence classes for kids. The gym is a safe space for many students at Kyneton High, building confide...nce and supporting their mental health. It would be great to be able to better equip the space. Please consider donating, to this worthwhile cause. Even the smallest donations will help and will be gratefully appreciated. https://www.schoolsplus.org.au/gearing-up-our-gym/ Thank you to CLLRN for been so supportive of our Project Ready Crew this year https://www.facebook.com/CRLLEN/.

21.01.2022 Hello students and families We hope you are safe and well as you adjust to remote learning 2.0. You are all showing incredible resilience during this challenging time. If you have been finding remote learning a little smoother this time around, that's awesome! But if you are feeling more stress, you are not alone. Ongoing stress can impact our wellbeing and learning. But a simple daily practise of mindfulness meditation can help to destress, improve focus, motivation, sleep q...uality, and overall wellbeing. If mindfulness meditation is a new concept to you, here is a link to a quick explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PkrhH-bkpk . Mindfulness for the mind is what brushing teeth is for a healthy mouth simple but effective! Here is a mini mindfulness moment session to try! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1Ndym-IsQg 'Smiling Mind' is also a great evidence based resource for young people. Download the app or go to the website, create an account, and log in to access the free mindfulness sessions whenever you like @ www.smilingmind.com.au/mindfulness The Wellbeing Team will provide some ongoing resources through-out the remote learning phase, however, if you would like to explore an individual mindfulness session with Andrea, please contact [email protected] and I will get in contact with you. Kind regards The Wellbeing Team. See more

19.01.2022 Covid-19 Update Monday 10/8 The deep clean of the school is complete; however the site will remain closed as we wait for the contact tracing team to complete their work. DHHS will keep us informed about this, and in turn we will inform the community as we receive further information. The work of the DHHS contact tracing team involves identifying and contacting people who have been in close contact with a person confirmed to have Covid-19. DHHS requests information from the sc...hool regarding classes, staff, etc. and we provide them readily with the information needed to do their work. Once a close contact is identified, DHHS will contact that person to advise them of next steps. Close contact means having face-to-face contact for more than 15 minutes or sharing a closed space for more than two hours with a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) when they were infectious. At the moment, the most important thing that students and staff must do is to remain at home. This includes limiting movements to home-based activities and not attending public places. At the moment this needs to be for a two-week period starting from last Monday 3 August (the last day students were at school); however this may change depending on advice we receive from DHHS. We know this is a challenging situation to be in, particularly for those working in industries like health, aged care and child care, however we must do our part to protect the vulnerable members of our community. For clarification about what self-isolation and quarantine means, please see the DHHS website here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/self-quarantine-coronavirus-cov'. We will provide regular updates via Xuno, email and Facebook (where appropriate). Thank you for your patience at this challenging time.

16.01.2022 COVID Update 11 August 2020 The DHHS contact tracing team is making significant progress in its highly complex and detailed work. We are very grateful for the amazing work that is being done by Kyneton Health on behalf of our community. DHHS have confirmed that there are further cases of students who have tested positive for COVID-19, and that contact tracing and testing for these students is well underway. We have had questions about the advice from DHHS and have tried to p...rovide some clarification below. Who does the remain at home advice apply to? DHHS asks that staff and students restrict themselves to home based activities whilst contact tracing continues. This requirement applies only to those who work at, or attend, Kyneton High School and does not extend to family and other members of the household. For how long do staff and students have to remain at home? At the moment this needs to be for a two-week period starting from last Monday 3 August (the last day students were at school); however, this may change depending on advice we receive from DHHS. Some students who were identified as close contacts of the first reported case may have received automated messages from DHHS to say that their quarantine period finishes earlier e.g. 13 August. The latest advice is that Monday 17 August is the date until which staff and students must remain at home. We thank you for your patience in these challenging times and the resilience that makes us such a strong community.
