24.01.2022 COVID got in the way of our Gasshuku plans in May, however, due to the ease in restrictions we had the Gasshuku from the evening of Thursday 6 August to mid-afternoon Sunday 9 August. Unfortunately our interstate people couldn’t attend. This year we focused on the introduction of our dojo’s own syllabus for throwing and grappling (strangles & holds) techniques. None of these are new as we have been practicing them for many years particularly the techniques found in our exten...sive list of kata. The techniques we included had to obviously work as useful self-defence, complement our Karate basics and individual style. However the standard Kyokushin karate syllabus is still paramount, with the pursuit of the essence of karate that is found in a single thrust, strike or kick. One highlight of the Gasshuku was having a cup of tea break and listening to the thoughts and ideas participants had on maxims synonymous with the martial arts and of there relevance in a modern fast changing world. We also revisited knife defence protocols including hanjo as well as the empty hand. See more

23.01.2022 Osu Great news! It’s been a good week as we are allowed to close the gap between training partners and as of tomorrow start using equipment again. So apart from being more vigilant about personal and environmental hygiene everything is normal. See below for training times.

22.01.2022 Nice message from Oishi Daigo Hanshi. At 68, he still moves so well. And his message is valuable for everyone regardless of affiliation. Oishi Hanshi's love for Sosai and honest humility (despite being an excellent leader) is refreshing.

14.01.2022 Question: Do you have a copy of The Budo Karate of Mas Oyama first edition? One thing I never did was collect testimonials. I am putting together the new webpag...e now so would love your testimonial. How did you find reading The Budo Karate of Mas Oyama? How important was it to your training? Leave a message below or if you prefer, send me a PM. And thank you in advance! Osu PS: Please feel free to share. I don't understand Facebook's algorithms that determine who sees posts and who doesn't.

13.01.2022 2020 gone, 2021 up and running. We achieved so much in the last few months of 2020 from the end of the states lockdown. If you were thinking of training with us and still haven’t managed to get along yet then today is a good time to start. We have the whole year ahead and presently engaged in our traditional January strength and conditioning. Tournaments, State camp, an all day training and a grading before June so today is a good day to begin the Budo journey.

07.01.2022 We have been up and running as normal with a handful of eager beginners to boost the ranks for a month now. Since the easing of restrictions in SA. we have been pushing towards our junior grading in a few weeks and a junior/senior grading in November. A good time to start from scratch or resume training as the focus is all about basics and building up strength with them. For anyone wanting to start up or resume look at the info. below for times and location. Just imagine how much you could achieve by Christmas.
