16.01.2022 The Lumbar Spine - Balancing the Internal Flame The lower back constantly supports us in daily life and in yoga practice. But do we pay attention to the messages it sends us? If there is disharmony in the back we feel it in every part of our being - physically, mentally, emotionally. Awareness in action is the key in yoga practice when it comes to supporting the lumbar spine. Many postures create relief and space for this area but some may push us away from a comfortable and... safe range of movement. Each person will have a different experience based on their own unique body. Along with the structural aspect of the back, yoga views this area as the storehouse of jathara agni (the digestive flame). When agni is imbalanced (through negative lifestyle choices, food, medication etc) we may experience it as pain or discomfort in the lumbar area. Fortunately, appropriate yoga practice combining breath and movement can bring pacification to both the energetic and physical form - if practised via the process of vinyasa krama (to place step by step). Join Jill for this nourishing practice that will move gradually towards stretching and strengthening the lumbar spine, and give balance to jathara agni, assisting our digestive process. This class is via Zoom this Sunday November 1 at 9am-10.15am. Bookings via the link below. https://kyoyoga.com.au/structural-yoga-spring-series/

05.01.2022 Garden Flow Sequence. Practising outside can be a test for the senses. There are so many distractions - sounds, activity, pets! Try this opening and balancing sequence to build steadiness and focus. Do it dynamically or by staying in different poses for a few breaths.
