18.01.2022 So far this weekend we have lost four lives on NSW roads. Avoid driving in the current weather conditions. If you have to drive, slow down, keep your head lights on and pull over if visibility is too poor.

15.01.2022 Clever concepts To engage the community and help change unsafe behaviour on the roads, we develop education and awareness campaigns. Ride to Live gets to the heart of what keeps motorcyclists safe: making good decisions. The campaign gives riders useful information about the risks they face on the road and how they can best manage them.... Don't trust your tired self focuses on drivers before they get behind the wheel, helping to reduce the number of fatigue-related crashes. The success of Don’t Rush continues with "How sorry will you be?", encouraging passengers to tell speeding drivers to slow down. Earlier versions of the campaign showed how more lives would be lost if there were no speed cameras and presented frontline medical staff directly impacted by the consequences of road trauma. The Plan B drink driving campaign is about making positive choices to get home safely after a night out, reinforcing the safety message that if you are having a few drinks, driving is not an option. Our Get Your Hand Off It campaign includes a cheeky YouTube video that pokes fun at the excuses made by drivers who use mobile phones illegally. The humorous message empowers people to speak out against friends and family who use their phones in a reckless manner while driving. Our Double Demerits Think Twice road safety campaign encourages safe behaviour on our roads, reminding drivers and riders that during double demerit periods the consequences for breaking the road rules are more severe. They're counting on you encourages the correct use of child car seats and raises awareness that many seats are not fitted correctly. It also includes our new video on driveway safety featuring TV personality Scott Cam. Road Rules Awareness Week helps anyone whose knowledge of the road rules isn't as thorough as it used to be. During the annual week, road users are encouraged to phone a special hotline to have their questions answered by road safety experts. Slow down and give us space aims to improve safety for those who work at the roadside responding to crashes and breakdowns.

04.01.2022 Double demerits start at midnight tonight and continue until midnight on Monday. Police will be targeting speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and helmet offences. We all have a part to play in reducing the road toll. #TowardsZero

04.01.2022 Staying safe Arrive alive All road users in NSW should be able to arrive safely at their destinations. This section of our website provides information, tips and advice to help keep you safe no matter how you're travelling.... Speeding, fatigue and alcohol are the three main causes of death and injury on our roads. We develop solutions and campaigns to keep drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists informed of the best and latest road safety measures, including mobile phone use and vehicle safety standards to help reduce crashes and injuries. On the road 65Plus has advice and safety tips for people in our community aged 65 and over to help make safer choices when driving, riding, walking, using a mobility scooter or catching public transport. Children are quick to move and need special care to keep them from danger on the roads, especially near schools. Statistics from crashes show drugs and alcohol contribute to many fatal crashes and that about one third of all drink drivers killed are aged 17-24 years.

02.01.2022 THE BIG TEST - TIPS. But why is it so excruciating? The pressure to perform can be intense, particularly when your friends and family know you're going for your Ps. There's also the stress of being assessed by someone you don't know the testing officer. To help you calm those nerves and prepare, Geared speaks to actual testing officers and we can tell you that they're human, they're reasonable and they don't hold any prejudices (despite the myths!). They just want you to re...lax, focus and drive as you would with your parents or your driving instructor. Testing officers see hundreds of learners come and go every year and they've been kind enough to give us some excellent advice about eliminating mistakes, calming those nerves and getting some perspective on the dreaded reverse park, so that you’re fully prepared on the day.

01.01.2022 Calming the nerves. Take a deep breath, talk to the testing officer or whatever works for you and remember to take your time. Try treating the test like any other driving lesson and not think of it as a test. Nerves affect everyone differently; we are all human including testing officers. Testing officers are not there to put you under any more pressure than you already feel. Remember the old saying "You cannot change the past" therefore if you make a mistake don't dwell on ...it. We know it's easier said than done, but some learners make additional mistakes because they are worrying about a minor error they made, instead of concentrating on the remainder of the test. Students who pass are confident and relaxed or at least they appear to be confident and relaxed! If you obey the road rules and drive safely often everything else will fall into place. See more
