16.01.2022 First time at Kwinana Motorplex last night for drag racing in both of the LM tuned A45s. LHS: - E85 blend (40/60) Time: 12.5 1/4 mile ... Launch RPM (set in DCT tune): 3250rpm Tyres: 32psi RHS: - 98, Willall intake, Downpipe with high-flow cat Time: 12.4 1/4 mile Launch RPM (set in DCT tune) 3000rpm Tyres: 32psi Some great things to learn here, gutting the downpipe is actually more of a hinderence to performance than you might think. The factory downpipe almost doubles in diameter for the catalytic converter, then reduces down to 3" to meet the midsection of the exhaust. Without the cat the exhaust gas will slow down due to the expansion in the catalytic converter chamber, which creates unnecessary back pressure, a significant hindrance to performance. If we were to do the same exercise again I'd replace it with BRB's euro 6 compliant downpipe (coming soon) rather than gutting it. The Ethanol blend A45 has 3 more degrees of ignition advance as well without inducing knock correction or generating high EGTs. The reason why we reduced the launch rpm down from 4000 is to combat wheel spin on the strip. Although the reduction of launch speed does assist with less wheel spin, we found the cars tended to bog down and lose about 0.2 seconds before making peak torque again which we have data logged with bFlash. Next time we will be increasing the launch control rpm back up to help us land within the torque band as soon as possible. From here, we will be working with Bubbas Race Bits in Perth for their euro 6 compliant downpipe with high-flow cat, and their own air intake. Down the line we will be looking at the fueling system including upgrades to the fuel pump and also the addition of methanol injection. There's a lot more in this so keen to see where we go from here. Another interesting thing to note is although the motorplex registered a time of 12.5064 and 60' of 2.002 my draggy on the same run did a 12.4 with a 60' of 1.96.

08.01.2022 @colossusgt on the dyno with his Passat intake, cat delete and our custom tune. Stock pass was 218 after pump gas tune it picked up 30 whp. On E85 we did not f...inish playing with but it seemed promising of gaining another 11-14 whp. All this is without dsg tuning. With the DSG tuning we will move the shift points a little higher to allow car to have a better power band. Next test will be some nitrous and see how it likes it. See more
