17.01.2022 A surrogacy journey: Watch the amazing journey between a surrogate and the family she carried four children for. "This is the story of their family, how they we...re able to bring children they so very much wanted into the world." -Videographer Jennifer Hamilton / Mamarazzi Photography Read more about their journey here: https://trib.al/51cVEDA

12.01.2022 The photo on the left was posted by a doctor and has been circulating Facebook. Every time I see it it makes me sad. And frustrated with our medical system and ...how we provide care for women and infants in America. Yes, the female reproductive system is amazing. Birth is beautiful. The umbilical cord is such a clever design and wonder. But do you see the cord on the right? Thats my daughters cord from my home birth. I sat and let it continue to pulse precious blood into her tiny body for about half an hour after she was born. Because every drop is precious. After the placenta emerged I gave it a couple more minutes and then finally cut the cord. See the difference between the two cords? One plump and purple, full of cord blood. The other flatter and pale and drained almost completely. What you want for your baby is that thinned pale cord. You want what rightfully belongs to your baby IN their body. Just a little FYI: those stem cells in that cord blood are super valuable. Its pretty likely that the doctor in that first photo financially benefited from saving that blood instead of allowing it to go into the baby. On top of that, hospital births are all about turnover rate. The faster they can get you in and out of that delivery room, the faster they can get the next laboring woman in because birth is highly profitable. So most doctors are not keen on standing around for 20+ minutes after birth waiting on a cord to stop pulsing. This is why I always suggest expectant mothers look into home birthing as an option if their situation allows for it.- Starr Rich

10.01.2022 Wow! We are amazing!

04.01.2022 I was thinking I can’t do this. It’ll never end. I had spent hours staying positive. Even feeling pleasure at times and relaxation in the midst of a contraction.... But all that was over now. What made me think I can do this? When I managed to speak (no small task) I yelled, Get it out of me!!! They kept saying, You! You have to do it! They kept telling me to lower my register when I screamed, till the only sounds coming from me were low growls, followed by a rumbling roar. On my knees I was angry. They said, Use your anger, Daphna. That made me frustrated. What was I doing wrong? But it was then, in a moment of despair and a feeling of futility, that I found something in me I didn’t know I had. For so many years, in so many waysinnocent and maliciousI’ve been told what I can and can’t do. What my body is and it isn’t. What it should and it shouldn’t. They made me feel less than a man. Less. But it was then in that moment, as my daughter emerged into the worldthat I came to understand my true power. My love to all the women who’ve birthed before me, and those who will after; to those who never will, but who’s bodies nonetheless have that inner strength to be superhuman and at the same time so very human. Don’t let anyone ever tell you what you can and cannot do. . . Thank you Kimm Sun & Kateryn Nuñez , and Leigh Cohen for the work that you do to bring babies into the world.
