24.01.2022 Wow aren’t these pretty? Which style and colour would you choose? Debbie Bryan ships to Australia at very reasonable cost and quickly - although maybe too late for Christmas this year.
#citedentellemode #calais #dentelle #dentelledecalais #dentelledecalaiscaudry #lace #lacework #patrimoine #HautEtFort #LaCitéchezVous #CulturechezNous #Museumfromhome See more
23.01.2022 Saw this shared in another family history group. Wish I had more hours in a day to fit them all in!
23.01.2022 There is a lace exhibition currently on show at the NSW Embroiderer’s Guild. For those of us who can’t get to Sydney, there is a video tour to watch. Enjoy! N.B the tour starts about 9 minutes into the video
19.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all Lacemaker Descendants wherever you may be celebrating We’d love to know where you are today and which Lacemaker family you are from.
17.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who joined us at out meeting this afternoon. We were delighted to have Fabrice with us, all the way from Paris. We talked about how to find out when our ancestors arrived in Calais - checking our index of Calais census records on the website can help you pinpoint a date range. https://www.lacemakersofcalais.com.au/calais-census
13.01.2022 I’m lucky that I can visit in person but I still use the e-resources available through my library card often.
12.01.2022 Happy February! Can you believe it is almost 3 months since we had our last 'virtual' meeting on Zoom? Who'd like to do it again this month? Traditionally we have met on a Saturday afternoon, but we know that doesn't suit everyone. Please add a comment below to let us know your preference (all in Sydney/Melbourne/Canberra time).... Thursday 18 February at 8pm Saturday 20 February at 2pm Sunday 21 February at 2pm Monday 22 February at 8pm
08.01.2022 We’ve added some buttons and links to our website homepage. If you have a question for our Research Officer, Gillian, you can send her an email by clicking on the ‘Ask Us’ button.
05.01.2022 For the next time you visit Trove. I noticed last week newspapers from the Mudgee NSW area have been added. If you had Lacemakers that went to Bathurst or ended up in the NSW Goldfields, there may be some new discoveries awaiting you.
05.01.2022 This looks like a great way to spend a Saturday. SAG is hosting a virtual conference focusing on technology tools and how they can be used to support and enhance your research. There will be a mixture of international and Australian presenters, most presenting live on the day. Special guest is internationally recognised genealogist and blogger, Thomas MacEntee, presenting live from Chicago.... There are breaks between presentations and recordings will be available to all who register. https://www.sag.org.au/event-4179168
04.01.2022 This is another topic we discussed at yesterday’s meeting. Have you tried sharing your family history and stories with your kids or grandkids? What was your ‘hook’?
01.01.2022 Have you explored our Members section of the website? There are some treasures to be found, including: - Australian, English and French records relevant to our Lacemaker families; - Stories, research and images generously shared by members;... - A dedicated webpage for every Lacemaker family group. For a one off donation of $20 (which goes towards the cost of the website) you can get access to this section. We’d love for you to join us! https://www.lacemakersofcalais.com.au/sign-up-new-members
