25.01.2022 Reminder there will be a working bee at the Club on Saturday 11th July at 9.00am to start preparing the rest of the paths and some work on the rescue boat shed, tractor and junior Open Skiff boat storage. Please let Josh know if you can attend. Text or phone, 0427837636.
24.01.2022 The Club did a wood chop today to support the junior sailing program. A terrific effort with plenty of members with chain saws, log splitters and hands to load the splitters and trailers. Some where in the area of 15 tonne of wood was split and placed in a shed for people to purchase. If you would like some red gum split wood please call Josh Hancock, Ph 0427837636 or message the Club on this Facebook page.
22.01.2022 Hi All, sorry for the late notice but there will be no junior sailing this weekend as the club is holding its annual Lobster Regatta. Come down for a look and stay for a steak tea Saturday night. Josh
21.01.2022 FIREWOOD by the trailer load available. Looking for split fire wood that the proceeds from will support our Juniors with new boats and sails, insurance and running costs of the rib. Then you can either leave a message here or call the Commodore 0427837636. Wood can be picked up from the farm or we will deliver if that's what you need.
20.01.2022 The Club held it's annual Lobster Regatta over the weekend. This event is sponsored by the Hancock Family in memory of Ann, Wangolina Wines and Humbugz Honey. Saturday presented the fleet with a shifting and varying strength wind with a race held before lunch and two after. The smaller than usual fleet enjoyed close racing with several different boats taking out line honors and the Handicap placings. Some of the fleet also battled to stay upright and experienced minor damage.... A steak dinner was held on Saturday night with sailors and visitors enjoying the stories from the days racing. Sunday was the Cape Jaffa to Kingston race and the wind was once again shifty and variable in strength all morning. The winner of the Cape race was "Ram Raider" Jeff and Liz Southall on both Line and Yardstick. The overall winner of the Lobster Regatta was Josh Hancock and Mitch Moody sailing "Deadly Pursuit". The Monohull division was won by Tom Parker sailing "Solar" See more
20.01.2022 Hi All, there will be no junior sailing tomorrow due to the wind forecast. The club will hold its last dinner for the season. See you there. Josh
20.01.2022 Evening All, looks like we should have nice morning for Junior Sailing tomorrow. Come down and give it a go from 10:00am. Be great to see the BICS out there again. Thanks Josh
18.01.2022 Hi All, there will be no Junior Sailing tomorrow morning due to the forecast weather. Have a great weekend. Thanks Josh
16.01.2022 Firstly due to current Yachting Australia and Government guidelines the sailing season is now closed and no further organised racing will take place. Our Presentation Night is also in doubt and advise on it will be posted closer to it's planned date as events unfold. Racing took place last Saturday in perfect sailing conditions and those that attended said it was probably the best day of the season. Wayne Hancock and Jason Backler on "Rikki Tikki Tavi" took out the first heat... that was a re-sail of the 3rd Club Championship heat, after a real battle all the way around the course with Josh Hancock and Ryan Bawden on "Deadly Pursuit". The lead swapped several times and at the finish they were 11 seconds apart. In third was David Curkpatrick on "Off Ya Rocker" followed by Graham Parker "Jackpot" and Jonathon and George England "Where's Wally". The second race was a re-sail of the 1st Vice Commodores trophy and the tussle between "Rikki Tikki Tavi" and "Deadly Pursuit" continued with 'Rikki Tikki Tavi" finally getting the win after some very close racing. "Off Ya Rocker" got to close to the start mark anchor line and delaminated a lee board forcing his retirement. Third place was "Jackpot" and "Where's Wally" fourth. The third re-sail of the day was for the 2nd heat of the Vice Commodores Trophy. For the third time "Deadly Pursuit" and "Rikki Tikki Tavi" sailed within touching distance for most of the race with "Deadly Pursuit" taking this win after some solid covering once in the lead mid race. Third was "Jackpot" with "Off Ya Rocker" and Where's Wally" being non starters. Back on the beach sailors found it hard to hide the excitement of the great sailing conditions and close racing. As stated at the beginning this was to be our last race day for the season although this wasn't the plan last Saturday. Please stay safe Lacepede Bay Sailing Club Members and I will look forward to racing with you next season again. See more
14.01.2022 Reminder to Anybody interested in attending; The Annual General Meeting of the Club is now going to be held on Wednesday 22nd July in the Club Rooms at 7.30pm.
14.01.2022 Oh what a beautiful morning! Junior sailing at it's best out on the bay with gentle north easterly winds. The kids had a ball sailing the short course in stunning conditions towards the season's end
13.01.2022 Hi All, there will be no sailing tomorrow Saturday the 20th Feb. Rest up ready for next week when will be holding a dinner. Thanks Josh
13.01.2022 Hi All, there will be no Junior sailing tomorrow due to the weather forecast. Thanks Josh
13.01.2022 Here are some shots from the SA Open Skiff State Titles held at Goolwa over the weekend. It was a great weekend, we'll done to all the juniors who participated.
13.01.2022 It was great to be back at the Club and sailing again. We sailed the 3rd heat of the Humbugz trophy series and re-sailed the 2nd heat of the Backler series in a gusty NE breeze. Josh Hancock and Ryan Bawden on "Deadly Pursuit" had the fleet chasing them all day with a win in both races. David Curkpatrick sailed "Off Ya Rocker" into second and third places with Wayne Hancock and Sarah on "Rikki Tikki Tavi" taking third and second. This was Sarah's first sail at Lacepede Bay an...d on a catamaran. Jonathan England and Raymond sailed "Where's Wally" but weren't able to start due to a broken rudder stock. They were able to make some hasty repairs and enjoyed a sail around the bay. This weekend will be the 4th Club Championship Heat and Christmas Dinner. The Club hopes that you can enjoy a days sailing and puts out an invitation to everybody to come along for it's Christmas Dinner. See more
13.01.2022 AGM Wednesday night 22nd July at the Clubrooms starting at 7.30pm. I took a couple of pictures of the beach on Sunday and the finished storage shelves in the Rescue Boat Shed with the Open Skiff's stowed away.
12.01.2022 Hi All, sorry for the late notice but there is no Sailing today due to the long weekend. Have a safe but fun weekend. Thanks Josh
10.01.2022 Evening All, we have our final Club tea of the season this Saturday night. It will be a special night as we are also catering for our Blazeaid volunteers. Lamb, coleslaw and gravy rolls will be the main tea and desserts will be offered as normal. Members - please bring a sweet to share. See you all at the bay on Saturday
10.01.2022 Hi All, the club will have the junior boats available for anyone interested in a sail from 10:00 am tomorrow. Please stay at home if you are unwell. Thanks Josh
09.01.2022 Saturday started off at the Club with the best sailing conditions for the juniors this season. The Open Skiff's were all crewed and sailed around in front of the Sailing Club. The senior sailors started racing in the afternoon in a stiff South Westerly breeze. Wayne Hancock and Jason Backler were back together on "Rikki Tikki Tavi" and led the fleet in the Club Championship race. David Curkpatrick on "Off Ya Rocker" was in second place until Josh Hancock and Tom Parker "Deadl...y Pursuit" over took him on the second reach along the beach. Tom who sails in the morning on the Open Skiff's was crewing for the first time on a Taipan 5.7 and did a great job. David was to have a lee board de-laminate and eventually snap in half forcing him further back in the fleet. Line honors were first "Rikki Tikki Tavi" followed by "Deadly Pursuit", Graham Parker on "Jack Pot", "Off Ya Rocker" and Jonathan England on "Where's Wally". Once racing was completed the club focused on it's Christmas Dinner in the evening and catered for a friendly group of dinners. The Turkey rolls were awesome and a big thank you to the girls who slaved away all afternoon to prepare it. Racing commences again with the Castec Rural Supplies Come and Try Sailing morning and 1st of the Commodore's trophy in the afternoon. See more
09.01.2022 Saturday had the Club back on the water again and the two snow chasers in Graham and Wayne home again from Canada. The breeze was forecast to be quite strong but stayed in the SSE and 10 to 15 knots. Both races were re-sailed from earlier in the year, the first a Club Championship. The first two laps of the up wind down wind course were closely contested between David Curkpatrick on his A Class "Off Ya Rocker" and Wayne Hancock and Jason Backler on a Taipan 5.7 "Rikki Tikki T...avi". David pushed a little to hard when gybing at the down wind mark the second time and tipped over. Martin Flower and Ryan Bawden (who was taking the opportunity to try crewing on the Nacra 5.8 as Josh was in Goolwa with the juniors) on "Defiant", took advantage of the slow recovery by David and sailed into second place. Third was Jonathon England and Deanne on a Taipan 4.9 "Where's Wally" then David and Graham Parker on an A Class "Jackpot". The second race was not as eventful with With "Rikki Tikki Tavi" winning followed by "Off Ya Rocker", "Defiant" (who was reveling in the flat water and mid strength gusty conditions), "Where's Wally" and 'Jackpot". As mentioned our juniors spent the weekend sailing in the Open Skiff State Titles in Goolwa with Tom Parker coming 4th and showing he is improving at a rapid rate. Others to sail in the State Coached Green Fleet were Kate Parker, Will Ogilvie and Tait Hancock. It is very exiting for our Club to have juniors sailing in a State event again and hopefully we are seeing the future of sailing in Lacepede Bay. Next week is another Club Championship race and a re-sailed race from earlier in the season as well. The days racing will conclude with a Club Dinner that the general public are most welcome to attend and mix with the Clubs members. See more
09.01.2022 The Working Bee was well attended today with some excellent out comes achieved. Tractor brakes were looked at and further work on a slave cylinder is needed. The Rescue Boat Shed was cleared out including the BBQ that was donated by Ian Backler from the Lobster Pot after renovations there. The BBQ was advertised on Kingston SE Buy Swap & Sell and sold within half an hour. The area taken up by the BBQ has had a set of shelves built in it's place to house the Junior "Open Skiff's". The final paving was set up so the concrete can be poured completing the first stage of the Club renovations. Well done Lacepede Bay Sailing Club on another well run, organised and job completion Working Bee.
08.01.2022 Hi All, the forecast looks good for the morning so junior sailing will be on from 10:00 am. Come along and have a go. The club is holding its Christmas dinner on Saturday night from 6:00 pm all welcome. Please RSVP for numbers by commenting on this post. Thanks, see you there. Josh
07.01.2022 There was no sailing last Saturday due to the high winds. The Club is planning on not sailing this coming weekend as well because the Taipan sailors will be competing in their State titles at Victor Harbor. There are also several other sailors going to be away so the next sailing day will be the 20th February.
06.01.2022 Hi All, unfortunately there will be no junior sailing this weekend as all the Bics are travelling to the Bic State Titles in Goolwa. Good luck to all the Juniors representing LBSC, have a great time. We will see everyone else the following week. Thanks Josh
06.01.2022 Hi All, no junior sailing tomorrow due to the wind forecast. The club is holding its last dinner for the season, come down for a lamb, coleslaw and gravy roll and dessert from 6:00 pm. See you there. Josh
06.01.2022 Hi everyone, The Management Committee has met after a break due to Covid19. Dates to look out for are;... Wood chop on Sunday 28th June starting 9.00am at "Fairways" the Hancock's property in Reedy Creek. This is to support the Junior sailing program with the purchase of boats and sails as the old ones wear out. Further details including map on how to get there to follow. Lunch will be provided by the Club so some idea of who will attend would be great. Also if your after a load of good quality gum wood all split ready for the fire let us know. There will be a working bee at the Club on Saturday 11th July at 9.00am to start preparing the rest of the paths and some work on the rescue boat shed and tractor. Once again the Club will provide lunch for the working bee. The Annual General Meeting of the Club is now going to be held on Wednesday 22nd July in the Club Rooms at 7.30pm.
05.01.2022 No sailing on Saturday due to the strong and gusty conditions. The Club still held its programmed dinner and catered for the Blaze Aid team. It was a fantastic night and very sociable thanks to the open, friendly and very sociable Blaze Aid crew. Due to the cancellation of the Lucindale Field Days next weekend the Club will be running some re-sail races on Saturday. If we can all be ready to race as early as possible we will try to get at least 2 if not 3 re-sails done.
04.01.2022 Day Two, Race 4
02.01.2022 Pre race warm up
02.01.2022 Up date on Saturdays sailing. As we will not be over 100 people and mostly out doors I anticipate that we will be re-sailing some of the missed races from earlier in the season on Saturday. We will need to be responsible and practice social distancing as much as is possible and if your not feeling well or have been in contact with someone with the Corona Virus please stay at home. If you have an issue with us racing you can contact the Commodore, Josh on 0427837636 an discuss the situation.
01.01.2022 Josh says its going to be a cracking morning tomorrow so he is hoping to catch you all for junior sailing from 10.00am Saturday morning.
