19.01.2022 How well do you protect your time? Are you making the most of every minute? Is day filled with intent, or are you just floating through? ... These are three questions I try to ask myself weekly In each of those weeks, we are gifted 168 hours 168 hours which we can utilise or squander The "I don't have time" excuse doesn't hold water Think of the most successful person you know ... they too receive 168 hours. What you do/ dont do in that time will determine the quality of your life. Including your health, your relationships, your finances, and about every single quantifiable part of your life. My point for this weeks email What you don't do, is more important than what you do Protecting your time should be one of your most important priorities Have you gotten to Wednesday or Thursday arvo and wondered why you haven't achieved anything? Have you wondered where the days have gone? I know I sure have These are the weeks when I dont protect my time. I let low priority distractions pull me away from my high priority actions The best way to protect your time Its to look at your calendar at the start of the week Fill in all of the most important things For me, the following 5 things need to start becoming priorities. 1. KP Time 2. Training/Movement 3. Meditation/Reading 4. Eating and Hydrating 5. Friends + Family Social Time (Coffee) All of the things that will fill my cup. All of the work and 'extras' come next. If I dont look after 1-5, 6-10 won't matter. What are your 5 things? Wallace.
17.01.2022 Here's the thing... You can have virtually anything you want, but you can’t have everything you want. This simple line from Principles by Ray Dalio hits home one of the basic fundamentals of life. ... Choosing a goal can mean rejecting your wants, needs and desires. You can have anything you want if you’re willing to work for it. If you’re willing to be patient, to put in the time and to put in the resources to get there. If you do this, then there’s a good chance you’ll get to the top of the mountain. BUT. This always comes at a cost. To get what you want most, you must sacrifice other things that could be important to you. If you want to train at 6am before work, you sacrifice a sleep in. If you want to build a business, you sacrifice daily coffee dates and ‘spare time’ If you want to spend a day at a conference, you sacrifice a day at work. If you want to work late, you sacrifice a night with your friends or family. If you want to take a day off, you sacrifice a day working towards your goals. If you want to sit for 12 hours a day, you will sacrifice your mobility. If you want to enjoy a meal of junk food and alcohol, you sacrifice your health. Sometimes this sacrifice may be worth it, other times it might not, but what you prioritise will ultimately determine where you end up. Just remember, every time you say yes to something. You’re saying no to something else. Make sure that these decisions serve future you, not just present you. You can have much more than what you need to be happy. Make your choice and get on with it Wallace
16.01.2022 I unapologetically hold myself to a high standard... That is reflected on my staff, clients and everyone around me. Here’s the thing, these standards don’t mean I don’t fail or that I meet them every day.... It means that when that happens, I don’t just blow it off and drop my standards. I pick myself up, dust myself off and make sure that I hit the standard the next day, and then the next. Soon enough, these high standards become your new baseline. My advice, focus on the thousands of inputs rather than the single result or outcome. Be the example. Wallace
13.01.2022 The way you do one thing is the way you do everything. The way you start is the way you finish. These two little sayings have quickly become a permanent fixture of my vernacular over the past few months.... If you plan on having a productive week, plan well on Sunday. If you want to train well, then your movement prep is paramount. If you want to have time for you, then book TLC times out in your diary each week. If you want something done on time. Set a deadline. Hold yourself to the same standards while you're making the bed as you do with work and all the seemingly more important tasks you complete daily. It won't seem like much at the time, but it adds up. Like anything right? And if you don't? Like when I forgot to make the bed this morning, then acknowledge it, and do better tomorrow. Yes, this shit is simple, but simple doesn't necessarily mean easy. We all look for an easy answer, a quick fix, but at the end of the day, doing the simple things savagely well will get you where you want to be. Thanks to all of the legendary humans who offered feedback from last week. Cheers to you all, Have an amazing week, Don't change for anyone. Wallace
12.01.2022 When asked what surprised him most about humanity. The Dalia Lama delivered this zinger. "Man. ... Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived." This quote has been on my mind all week. Being in the 'Health and Fitness industry' It has been a constant fixture for the past 8 years. But for some reason, it resonated a little bit more this week. I did spend Saturday night in the hospital with concussion, so health was front of mind. But thats a story for another email. In my 'job' I'm fortunate enough to work with hundreds of people each year. Through my own coaching or through our groups, other coaches and other services. The older I get (currently at the ripe old age of 26) the more I begin to notice patterns. I see people 10, 20, 30 years older than me struggle with their health more and more as they age. Passing the point of no return without realising. They put money and work ahead of health. Usually, its for unselfish reasons. Supporting their family, or partner. Or its because they feel as though they don't have any other choice. The cost of living has backed them into a corner so tightly that chasing money is (seemingly) the only focus. When they come to the realisation that life ends quicker than they thought. Or the ability to function they way they want to disappears. It's too late. Hence the above quote. So here is another quote for today. "All men seek happiness. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end. It is without exception." When I'm asked in 20 years how I chased my happiness, whether I chose health or money first. I hope I'll be able to say that I chased fulfilment, connection and cultivated my environment. What are you chasing? Lachie

10.01.2022 I'm an all or nothing kind of person. I'll struggle to read more than a handful of books, or I'll commit to reading 52 books a year. I'll train every day for months, or I'll struggle to get a few sessions out each week. ... I go all in, dial in on one thing, usually go over the top and eventually fall in a heap for a few days, realise I need to fill my cup then I pick myself up go hard, and then do it all over again. This is my pattern. I'm beginning to understand that. This is ok, this is me, I'm not going to try and change it, simple as that. What I am doing is trying to be aware of it, and ensure that I can couple this intensity with at least a little bit of 'fill my cup time' Comments I hear all of the time 'You work too much' 'You need to slow down' 'Mate, have a day off once in a while' I appreciate the love and care shown in these comments, but it doesn't serve me. I believe that we all have a different wavelength. What I mean by that is that most of us tend to fit into one of three categories for each part of our lives. High Capacity / Medium Capacity / Low Capacity. For example, I have a High Capacity to spend time working on Virtus. Working 6.5-7 days a week is normal. That's me, I'm ok with that. If you don't agree, thats ok, you do you. If you understand your capacity. Your wavelength. Your patterns. Your wants and needs, then you're well equipped to make the small important adjustments to move you in the right direction, look after yourself and understand when you can go hard, and when you need to pull back. What matters, is awareness. Awareness of your patterns, your capacity and your desire to get from where you are now to where you want to be. If you're aware, then you're way ahead of the curve, you can gain a better understanding of where you're at, and make the best decisions in terms of looking after yourself, and simultaneously improving who and what you are. Just a thought process, a brain dump. Let me know what you think. If you disagree. Let's discuss it. Be Amazing. Wallace
09.01.2022 I’m working on a theory. There should be no such thing as a bad day. Stay with me. ... Let me explain where I’m coming from. Bad things happen. Life happens. Sometimes all at once. Yet, I truly believe that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. A Marcus Aurelius quote comes straight to mind You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realise this, and you will find strength Is this optimistic view of life naive? Maybe. People die, sometimes lots at once, bad things happen to good people, and horrible accidents can occur at any time. I am fully aware of this, yet I stand by my earlier statement, 'there should be no such thing as a bad day' How you react to each situation, each event and each 'bad thing' is entirely your choice. You can choose to wallow in self-pity, you can let it define you, or you can feel how you need to feel, identify why you feel how you feel, and take action to improve it. Change your environment. Take the plunge on that big idea. Connect with someone who you haven't spoken to in a while. Make peace with things you have done that don't fit within your values (because you know that you'll be better next time) My phone background right now has a quote that resonates so strongly with me that I find myself repeating it daily. The Bad News: Everyday has been the hardest day of my life. The Good News: I'm simultaneously aware of indescribable personal development" Through struggle, pain and suffering comes growth, meaning and prosperity. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... "Growth is never pleasant at the time" If you look at life this way, and I try to, then you realise that whatever happens, you'll be alright. If you're unhappy, you'll be happy again. It just might take some time, effort self-reflection. Have an amazing day. Wallace, out. (Below, some delicious Leunig)

05.01.2022 I have a short sharp one for you this week Partly because I don't want to waffle Mostly because It is a topic you shouldn't overthink... Overwhelm I believe when you focus on the result, rather than the process, overwhelm will smack you in the face If you're so attached to an outcome that it is all you think about You'll lose the ability to appreciate and enjoy the process Happiness isn't about killing yourself for an outcome. Happiness is about embracing the little steps along the way, stopping to smell the roses so to speak If you focus on the outcome you'll be overwhelmed, if you focus on the little things, you'll make progress. So two things I want you to think about What is the outcome I am looking for? What are the tasks I need to accomplish for that to happen? Once we know your outcome, detach from it Once we focus on the tasks, we can enjoy the journey and tackle each task as it comes If you need help with either step, ask for help. Life is just us doing a heap of cool shit before we die, don't waste it being overwhelmed. Lachie (Below) How cool are cool people? Eliza just laughing at a hilarious thing I said (probably)
04.01.2022 How good is travelling? Especially to places like Japan. Japan is a magical place, and I will most certainly be back multiple times. To borrow a phrase I heard describing this country 'Japan is as it should be' meaning if we were to build a civilisation from scratch, the Japanese culture would be the first point of call. From cleanliness to customer service, to public transport, to genuine manners and an overarching theme of quality, it was difficult to find a bad experienc...e over the last week. The quote below epitomises what I experienced Japanese culture to be. "The standards we walk past, are the standards we accept" The lessons i have learn and have had reinforced over the last week won't all fit inside this post, but I'll attempt to be succinct with a few of them here... apologies if i ramble, but i need some time to unpack these thoughts. Opportunities only happen when you take action. If you sit on your hands and wait for amazing adventures to be thrust upon you, you'll be bitterly disappointed, and have sore hands. Live in the moment, If you are constantly focused on the past or the future, you may tend to forget to enjoy the now. A wise friend once said to me that the past is just stories we tell ourselves, we change these stories to suit our needs at the time, I feel as though the future and our expectations tend to be the same. Stop, take a breath, and say to yourself, 'how good is this'. Find the one thing you love to do, or that you're supremely good at, and do that. Live your life on your terms, not others. This way hard work is worthwhile and meaningful. This lesson was taught to me without words, at a little roadside kebab shop, where I learnt that the owner would spend the winter making delicious kebabs, save up, and then spend the summer surfing. I have some incredible friends, I knew this, but I guess it is a nice thing to be reminded of so intensely. Travel reminds you of your insignificance, it really makes you rethink your place in the world, whether I'm on the Shinkansen to Tokyo or sitting at Virtus in Mornington, the world is still going about its business, all at once, its things like this that shows me the importance doing what makes you happy and following your dreams and all of that stuff.
