25.01.2022 We had some special guests today from The DET Healthy Ears & Nose Blowing program; Sam, Lucy & Margo. Sam & Lucy helped us learn how to blow our nose properly to clear our ‘eustachian tubes’ and the importance of hand hygiene. First we use our little crab claws to pull out the tissue, then we fold along the magic line. Then we block one nostril with our index finger and cover the other with the other half of the tissue. We take a big breath in and we blow all the boogers out.... We fold the tissue in half and repeat on the other side. Then we put our tissue in the bin and wash or sanitise our hands. All the children were super engaged and followed all the instructions and we were so proud of their best audience manners. Margo told the children if they have regular ear issues or constant runny noses that they need to remind their families get their ears/hearing checked every school holidays. Margo also gave each child a little book to take home in their bags.

11.01.2022 GASTRO ALERT Increased rates of gastro are being reported in NSW child care centres this month. NSW Health have issued an alert to child care centres, the ...key points are: Gastroenteritis outbreak notifications have increased in childcare centres across NSW Alert staff to be vigilant for symptoms of gastroenteritis in children Reinforce basic hygiene measures, such as regular hand washing, to prevent the spread of infection Exclude sick children and staff for at least 48 hours after their last symptoms The two most important things you can do if your child has gastro to break the chain and stop the spread are: WASH YOUR (and everyone in your household) HANDS FREQUENTLY with soap and water! KEEP your child home for 48 hours AFTER their last vomit and/or diarrhoea (typically diarrhoea will go on for longer than the vomiting). Why? Because your child can still be shedding the virus after the symptoms stop! We get it, it can be so hard, especially if you are a working parent. But it is key to stop the spread! Remember, always seek medical advice if you are concerned about your child. 05.01.2022 Day 2 @ Tullibigeal - Talk Like a Pirate Day This afternoon we had so much fun outside! Miss Tyannua made up a treasure map for us to carefully follow. First we had to head out the door, turn right and on the corner was a little note, which read keep on following the map and you might find some items to help you find your treasure.... The map than told the children to head to the blue dish, the pod and cubby house. At these points they found some items such as buckets and spades. (Hmm I wonder why they were there). As we got closer to the end of the map, it took us to the sandpit. The children all started digging around to find the treasure. At last they found a box which inside had lots of chocolates. #TalkLikeAPirateDay2020 http://www.talklikeapirateday.com.au//lachlan-childrens-se
