25.01.2022 There's a reason they call it #liquidgold.

24.01.2022 Thought this could be helpful to some mommas Ashley

24.01.2022 Thank you to the Australian Breastfeeding Association as an organisation and a local group for the wonderful work they do supporting mothers and professionals in infant feeding

24.01.2022 This would make access to skilled support much more equitable. Speech pathologists have Medicare provider numbers yet IBCLC’s do not. Please support.

23.01.2022 Some encouragement for all you weary mothers as you respond to your little one & feed (again!) during those long nights ...

22.01.2022 A woman’s body is an amazing creation!

21.01.2022 Dear mothers, I hope you find this article reassuring - ANY breastfeeding is protective for your baby so continue to breastfeed or express milk feed as much as you can, remembering to wash your hands and practice general good hygiene as per the guidelines provided by public health departments. Mother’s milk is a unique biochemically complex substance that contains live antibodies to protect and grow our babies. It is both food and medicine. The Australian Breastfeeding Asso...ciation has excellent, evidence based information available on their website. Let’s all keep calm and carrying on caring for one another. See more

20.01.2022 Finally a story on the lies from big companies that prey on mothers The claims are all marketing. You’re paying for the marketing, you’re not paying for a bett...er product, Dr Gribble says. Even if a mother eats McDonalds every day, her milk will still be better than formula. *** What if alongside these cans we also found Supplementary Nursing Systems (SNS), various express pumps, nipple shields and phone numbers for support in our feeding journey? Most parents are pretty stressed out when it comes to feeding their children. In that place of struggle, don't fall for marketing claims but instead be aware. Reach out to someone you can trust, get second or third opinions. Alongside this trust your instinct, listen to your baby and your unique situation and learn about the latest research on feeding. Getting informed and consulting a IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) who knows their stuff can go a long way to supporting you in matters of health and feeding. After all #informedisbest and we want to support you in finding what's best for your child and family, sales and marketing aside. https://www.news.com.au///2f9d0ed6e55e132e9f3514e868555887 #formula #artificialmilk #breastfeeding #breastmilksharing

20.01.2022 To all of those for whom this mirrors your story, I’m so sorry. Please know there is compassionate, kind and skilled help available if you want to breastfeed. It can be really tough but it can also be a wonderful.

19.01.2022 As we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, this insightful article says it so much better than I ever could. To those who are or have, breastfed - well done! I know it takes commitment, so much time and is often accompanied by tears before the joy comes. My heart goes out to all of you who desperately wanted to but, for whatever reason, were unable to achieve their breastfeeding goal. Your grief, sense of loss, anger, disappointment, feelings of failure and inadequacy is real and I’m so sorry. World breastfeeding week inspires me to continue to use my gifts, knowledge and skills in lactation to support all women in their feeding and mothering and to equip other health professionals to do the same.

19.01.2022 "My name is Jen James and I run my private lactation practice, Lactogenesis, out of my home in East Toowoomba. In addition to extensive experience as a registe...red nurse and midwife, I have worked for the last 15 years as a lactation specialist (IBCLC) in both hospital and community settings. As well as being skilled in general breastfeeding support, I have experience in working with mothers and babies of all ages, including those with complicated issues impacting feeding such as maternal medical conditions and breast surgery, prematurity, cleft palate and Down’s Syndrome. My passion is to support women and their families in pregnancy and mothering, regardless of their feeding choices. I endeavour to do this by providing high quality care with compassion, respect and gentleness. Kind Regards, Jen

18.01.2022 Definitely worth trying!

17.01.2022 I’ve shared this post in the hope that it will encourage those of you in the midst of mothering little ones. It is so very tiring, often so much of what is done seems unappreciated, unnoticed and of little value to society. Life is made up of constant demands, interruptions and many humble chores which are endlessly repeated .... day after day. The love, time, energy and talents you are investing into the lives of your children will not be wasted. In the midst of the busyness, take time to delight in your little ones and treasure the days you have them. You won’t regret it!

15.01.2022 Does anyone have a medela supply line that they aren’t using anymore? I have a client who needs one by tomorrow morning and would appreciate either a loan or for one of mine to be returned. Thanks in advance, Jen

15.01.2022 Thank you, ABA, for the work you do.

10.01.2022 In war-torn places like the DRC, UNHCR’s mother and baby programs that focus on the ‘golden hour’ after birth, can literally mean the difference between life and death. You can help make that difference http://bit.ly/2KycYRt

10.01.2022 It’s such a beautiful time of year here in Toowoomba and parks and gardens are the perfect spot for families to enjoy over the spring break. Just letting you all know that I will be away for a few days during the school holidays - Monday 30th September to Friday 4th October. I apologise for any inconvenience but know you will understand the importance of investing in the lives of those we love.

09.01.2022 "Well-established health benefits of breastfeeding for the baby include: decreased risk of asthma, childhood leukemia, childhood obesity, ear infections, eczema..., diarrhea and vomiting, sudden infant death syndrome, and type 2 diabetes. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding at least 12 months and until the child is two years of age, if possible. The World Health Organization recommends two years or more." #WorldBreastfeedingWeek #BreastisBest #LiquidLove #MamasMilkRocks #IBCLC

08.01.2022 Breastfeeding to sleep is not a 'bad habit'. You might be told that you are going to be the only one who can get ever your child to sleep, but that's not the ca...se. We want people to see that breastfeeding to sleep can be a wonderful nurturing part of a routine and a natural progression. #breastfeeding #feedtosleep

08.01.2022 This is so true. Mothers are frequently worried or advised to supplement breastfeeding unnecessarily based simply on a single weight or the misconception that to be below the 50 percentile is to be underweight. It’s vital to always look at the whole picture, not simply numbers in isolation. Each baby is a unique individual and humans come in all shapes and sizes!

03.01.2022 A specialist lactation consultant hosted by the South West Hospital and Health Service last week held a series of education sessions around the region for clini...cians. South West HHS Clinical Midwifery Consultant Anne Bousfield said the aim of the sessions was to educate health professionals about the health benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and babies. These clinicians can then educate women and families and help them make informed decisions about breastfeeding based on scientific evidence,’’ Ms Bousfield said Read the full release: https://www.southwest.health.qld.gov.au/expert-delivers-la/

01.01.2022 So much better than using a bottle and teat as long as baby is awake and alert

01.01.2022 It has been a while since I’ve posted anything so I thought it time for an update. Many of you will know that my husband had a stem cell transplant in April. We are so thankful that he is in a full remission from Mantle Cell Lymphoma. He is currently on the long rehab journey of rebuilding physical and emotional strength. In view of this, I have resigned from my position at Toowoomba Hospital to focus on my family and this lactation practice. I would like to thank you all f...or the messages, meals, prayers, cards and ongoing care and support that have been given. I am now available to continue to support mothers in their feeding and to assist health professionals to gain the skills and knowledge to do the same. Please contact me on 0435 057 258 or via messenger if I can help you!

01.01.2022 Hello Lovely Ladies, I am in urgent need of a supply line. If anyone has one of mine or is willing to lend one, I would be very grateful. Thank you

01.01.2022 So well said! Dear mother of a newborn, Extend grace and kindness to yourself; spend time resting with your little one getting to know each other. Everything else can be done by someone else’s hands but only you are given the gift of mothering this precious little one.
