25.01.2022 With only 10 peeps permitted inside, it’s feeling a little sparse, but we’re not complaining. To simply be able to open the doors and do what we love is amazing. And we don’t have to deal with 100,000 Covid cases being diagnosed every single day like the US...imagine! A big shout-out to all the VERY patient customers who are being so tolerant despite our tech teething problems - thank you! Your safety, and that of our staff, is the most important concern for us right now. It ...might be irritating ordering via a QR code, maybe a little impersonal, but it’s safe! If you can’t find a booking we have tables available for ‘walk-ins’ and a whole lot of new street furniture on order (wish it was here yesterday). And you can always order takeaway. 24.01.2022 Sweet sweet news to our eager ears today. Thank YOU Melbourne, just when we need it most - the festive season! November & December are normally the busiest months for most hospo businesses, but this year we’ve had to really rein it - safety has been our priority. We’re licensed for 200 people in Prahran but we’ve only been able to seat 20 inside...do the math, it’s not ideal. Thankfully we’ve managed to reclaim car spaces formerly used for babysitting cars and turned them into dining zones for eating, drinking & general merriment. 15.01.2022 What started as a call out for an emerging artist to help paint our newly built, then tagged ‘parklet’, ended up being a series of special acts of kindness. Notwithstanding the damn fine creative artwork. Cutting a short story shorter, our ace friend Shelley Freeman rallied up her even ace-er students at Collarts to design a creative response. They decided to rollout a design inspired by @lydiawattdesign ‘s chicken called ‘Kieven’ (you can spot him walking around the walls)...... THEN Manfax Paint and Hardware DONATED all the paint and vinyl lettering - this is amazing and grateful doesn’t even come close. And THEN, Jane Faulkner from Wine Matters threw in a case of delicious vino for the students (she’s never met them)...but the kindness keeps kinding... THEN, Esilio Benedetti decided he wanted to shout the students a feast after the brushes were washed...He’d never even met them either, but thought they deserved a treat for their efforts. Amazing! We’ve had a rough 2020, all of us. But the generosity and kindness of our local neighbourhood and Ladro customers, despite the year, blows us away and sends goosies up our arms. Frankly it’s bought tears to our eyes. Happy tears. We’ve spent most of the year apart, but we’ve never felt more together. And that’s what community, neighbourhoods and precincts where people are connected are all about. Feeling very lucky & very loved. THANK YOU, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU... To our hood, art matters.
