18.01.2022 WOW! What a way to end my 2020 wedding bookings!! Congratulations Isabelle + Fraser Backstory: It flooded the day before Next level flooding where I low key thought I wasn’t going to make it #PTSD from 2016 ... Isabelle’s Mum made her dress! Turns out she is a retired designer Fraser’s Mum is our very own and much loved chef at @2cooksinthekitchencatering ! Talk about a talented family!! The ceremony was tucked away behind a neighbour’s private property (sorry everyone who DMd me ) They even got their family Priest to perform at the BEACH!!! If you know anything about Catholic Priests they NEVER do this - it’s kind of a big deal They had their reception at our favourite local restaurant @tavernakingscliff I know I said it a million times on the day but Im so freaking happy for you guys that it all worked out!! 18.01.2022 2hrs before I flew to Port Douglas for a friends wedding I was capturing Emily + Jake’s stunning elopement in Byron Bay! THIS LIGHT I raced home from Byron to backup images while I had a quick shower and with lightening speed created these sneak peeks! ... We did nearly miss our flight haha I was running through the airport with wet hair Bloody Jetstar cancelled our morning flight - I thought I had all night to do these. Good thing I’m experienced at my job Location: Wategos Beach, Byron Bay It’s no secret this *instagram* location is *not* my favourite beach in Byron, why? Cos it’s packed!! No parking and it’s always stressful. We did politely ask several groups to move for the ceremony so they weren’t in the background and we could create a private space. They were happy too! Most people are accommodating. @ceremoniesbyleisa did her thing while a family friend played Silverchair on the ukulele!! Loved it!! These guys travelled from Ballina We have teamed up with @bramblewoodfarm as *Bilambil locals* to offer Family Sessions on their private property - perfect if you don’t like sand or want a private experience!... Xmas is the busiest time of year for family sessions because everyone is together! 09.01.2022 We celebrated Valentine’s Day with our girls today (tomorrow is Mummy and Daddy time ) The girls picked out a few pieces from @lujadesigns for Mumma Standard Aussie family day: brekky at the local cafe, swim and sunshine ... We actually live closer to Coolangatta (8mins), it’s not our favourite (too busy). Now the borders have opened we thought we would support some local businesses who have struggled. You’ll find us most weekends on the Tweed Coast side of the border, around Kingscliff Our fav swimming holes are Dreamtime beach at Fingal (if we want waves + dog friendly), Cudgen Creek in Kingscliff (great for young ones / SUP / dog friendly and walking distance to Kingy Pub for Sunday arvo love music) or Hastings Point rock pools... all within 15-20mins from our house. 03.01.2022 I wrote my: 2020 Negatives to Positives below What did I learn? To slow the f@&k down! Being a workaholic isn’t cute anymore Sarah-Jane ... My body literally came to a grinding holt with chronic pelvic pain from an undiagnosed bladder disease #intersistialcystitis QUOTE OF THE YEAR: If you don’t make time for *wellness*, you’ll be forced to by *illness* Negative: Covid: the wedding industry shut down Positive: Couples decided to elope and my brand @luxeelopements_byronbay exploded! Lucky it was already established (3years in Jan) I was in chronic pain and put on a ton of weight It went to my bra I had to buy a new wardrobe - online shopping, baby! I had to cancel my OWN wedding cos my hubby-to-be is Irish and 50% of our guest list were travelling from Ireland I used our wedding money on renovations for our house - LOVE my new laundry + studio toilet + front door and entrance deck I went from being a healthy Woman to literally bedridden crying in pain daily. Told there is nothing we can do, you have to learn to live with the pain - close your business and get a carer, you need a hysterectomy I had surgery and they found a bladder disease which is manageable with major lifestyle changes! I won’t ever be pain free but I can enjoy life again I was crippled with chronic pelvic pain. I couldn’t walk, sit, drive or bend Hubby-to-be came home to care for me and our girls for 4.5mths while I healed and got through peak wedding season! He has been working FIFO 3wks away, 1wk home for 8 yrs! Very privileged to have a successful business to financially be able to do this. Quality family time. He was home for bday, Xmas and weekends away! 2020 looked so different for everyone. It’s a reminder to always BE NICE, you never know what someone else is going through. Covid hit everyone hard. I’m going to ride this wave through 2021 with a smile on my face and capture all the LOVE as long as I am legally allowed
