02.01.2022 We have a full range of violets available in store, plant them now in time for late Winter to early Spring flowers, beautiful in pots or the ground. All colors available! #Violet #Sweetviolet #violets Sweet Violet ... The Sweet Violet is so called on account of its pleasingly seductive perfume, and sometimes said to be the flower of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. It was a favorite garden plant back in medieval times and in the 1800's. Writers often commented on its scent. In the 1500's Sir Francis Bacon said in his essay Of Gardens: "That which above all yields the sweetest smell in the air is the Violet." This charming image is beautifully observed study, although both double and single flower forms appear to be growing from the same root. Modesty is the virtue most associated with the violet, it is small, grows close to the ground and prefers secret, semi shaded spots in the garden.
